Couldn't be happier today =) We went to the Santa Ana office...not the easiest one to find, by the way, many thanks to Mapquest
We didn't stay there for very long, actually. Imma list the details before I forget:
Officer called hubby's name, and then led us to her office
She swore us in, and then proceeded with the niceties (g'morning, how're you)
She asked hubby details about himself--name, current address, social, mom and pops' names, current occupation (he said none at the moment since we were waiting for EAD, she nodded approvingly), birth date, birth place, wife's name
Then she ran through the usual questions about gambling, conspiring against the US, helping illegal aliens, having been registered to vote, etc. 'Course those were all no's
She asked hubby what his number was, clarified whether it was mobile or home phone, asked him who the carrier was
Asked the same information from me, and then asked if we were in a shared plan--I said yes. She asked since when, and I said since he got here last Oct 2006
She asked hubby when we got married
She asked me to tell her how we met, and then asked me how we became a couple and how we eventually got engaged
She asked me when I filed the K-1 petition
Then she told us to give her a stack of evidence to show that we live together--we gave her the usual (bank accounts, bills, renter's insurance, furniture delivery receipt addressed to both of us, wedding contract)
While going through the stack, she asked us how many guests we had at the wedding--we said 50, cuz that's all we can afford and really we just wanted family and close friends there
She also asked if we lived with other people in our current residence
And then I gave her our wedding invitation and Save the Date, which she kept in file
[segue: While I was preparing our stack, I asked her if she could really speak Filipino because she greeted the security officer in Filipino as we passed him on our way to her office, so we did a little small talk regarding that]
And then she said she was gonna approve our case, and that hubby's card will be here in 2 to 10 days!!!!!!
All in all, it was pretty painless. And quick! We got there at 5 before 9, and were on the freeway on the way home at 9:40.
She did say though that lately they've been calling people in for a second interview, maybe to check up on em or something? In any case, our binder (filed by obsessive-compulsive me) will be ready, as will we. In the meantime, I think we're gonna bask in our happiness
Good luck to everybody here! This forum has really helped me and my hubby a lot; I hope it stays on for the rest of the people who are going through any of the immigration processes!

WE'RE APPROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Adjudicator says the card will be in the mail in 2-10 days!!!
-
Same here! Today I got an e-mail saying they sent us a letter regarding the approval of my hubby's EAD on 04/13, but today in the mail his EAD arrived!!!
Interview's tomorrow...wish us luck =)

OMG! I'm sorry to hear that...I hope things turn out for the better for you
-
Thanks! Our interview's on the 17th, so while we technically haven't received his card yet, we did get the EAD approval first.
-
Thanks! I know huh, wouldn't that be nice *sigh*

Thanks! Yeah, it's a good thing, too. After a while, "Patience is a virtue" gets tiring

So because I'm part geek and part crazy person I created this small script that runs on my desktop to count down the days since our application date, since the last touched dates for our AOS and EAD, and to our interview appointment for the AOS.
It's been 53 weekdays (cuz I assume the USCIS peeps don't work on weekends) since our application date, and I got a lovely email from CRIS just as I got back from lunch. Hubby's EAD's been processed!!!
Course there's the "wait 30 days" disclaimer but eh well. Just wanted to share the good news with you all, and here's to more luck to come our way...interview's in [checks countdown script] 6 days, 19 hours, and 6 minutes!
Good luck to us all, actually =)

Same here, we've got our interview date set for the 17th of April, but since the 19th of February, our EAD app hasn't been touched yet. Like Savanphil, we'll take it even though it's bittersweet

This is funny, I was just about to ask the same thing. I love how USCIS writing can be so obscure and ambiguous.
-
Figured as much Thanks! That's kind of encouraging, actually. After receiving their RFE, we responded in two days, and they acknowledged receipt of it within the next two days after that.
The wait is on...

I've looked at previous posts, but none of them seemed to have a pointed answer to this question.
So when we were told to submit our AOS and EAD application within 90 days of getting married, we were also told that those 90 days included weekends. No probs, we submitted just in time.
When my then fiancé arrived in the US and the immigration officer stamped his I-94 with the expiry date, weekends were also counted there.
Now, however, that we submitted our response to the USCIS' RFE, I'm not sure as to whether or not we're to include weekends when counting the 60 days that they said was going to take to return with a decision. So now that it's their turn to move, do we exclude weekends?
Anybody got any ideas? I just need to know so I could be less crazy about waiting. Thanks!

Yeah, but the thing is, we didn't leave out any requirements the first time around. So since I've already filed my taxes (and gotten my refund, yay!), I just included a copy of that as well when I resubmitted the Affidavit of Support along with the rest of the fun stuff (again).
I've always submitted my returns in Jan/Feb so it was just a convenience for me that I could cover all bases.

Hi guys,
we filed our AOS/EAD on 01/25 and still got an RFE for my 2006 tax return. Thank God for TurboTax.

We filed ours on 01/25, and got the RFE for my 2006 tax return. Sux.

that's what i thought, thanks, Luis&Laura!

Sorry, I forgot that part of the story. The law firm that helped us with our K-1 visa also sent us a packet of things to file for the AOS, and in their instructions they said that " Your fiancee’s AOS paperwork should be filed within 30 days after your wedding date. "
Was that just something that they said so that we would do it ASAP? I don't want to scramble unnecessarily and then fail to send an important requirement.
Thanks in advance, guys.

Hello everybody,
I'm a little bit panicked. I got married on Dec 10, 2006, and now I'm unsure as to how to count the 30 days that we have to file for AOS...I'm not quite sure if I should include weekends and/or holidays, so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Billy

Hi everybody,
My fiance has arrived a month ago and we're getting married in two weeks! We're kind of getting ready for the next steps, but while I was browsing online for references, I came across a couple of entries where posters claimed that when they filed for their AOS and EAD at the San Diego or Chula Vista offices, that they got their EAD on the same day as well.
Is there anybody here who can confirm or refute that? If it is the case, then the trip to SD might be worth it.
Also, as a side note. I don't know if the US Embassy in the Philippines has grown more lenient, but my fiance's parents and his siblings were granted multiple-entry visas to the US so we're happy that he'll have representation at the wedding
cheers and thanks in advance!
NOA 1 on the VJ Timeline
in Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion
Posted
Ok, so we filed our I-751 on 01-03, and they received it on 01-05. We received the NOA in the mail on 01-23, the postmark was 01-22, but the receipt date on the NOA itself is 01-05.
So on our VJ timeline, which date do I put down under NOA 1?
Thanks.
