  1. Hey Guys!

I have a question. I had my interview for permanent residency on 25th January. Interview went good and the officer told me and my husband that my medical had expired so i had to get it done again. I got my medical done, submitted it to USCIS on Feb 6 2017. Now the status changed to Correspondence was received, USCIS is reviewing it. It has been like this since 3 weeks. Is there anyone who had to submit additional docs in marriage based permanent residency interview? And how long did it take to hear from them? Thanks!

  2. Hi everyone,

So I got my EAD in the mail two days ago and while filing for it, I had filed for an Advance Parole too. Now the letter says that it is a combo card and can be used as an Advance Parole too. So my question is, how long can I stay out of US for? I am planning to go back to my country and finish my degree which will take roughly 5 months. Will I be allowed to reenter on AP after staying out consecutively for 5-6 months?

  3. Hi friends,

I just randomly checked my USCIS status on the EAD today, and was pleasantly surprised when it said that as of May 10th, 2016 (last Tuesday), they ordered the EAD card and will be mailed to my address.

Approximately how long do you think it'll take for it to be in my hands?

    So happy for you! Congrats!

Do you mind sharing if you're on K1 visa and when did you apply for EAD? I am still waiting for mine... :(

  4. Only if there is something lacking in your original application. That might be an incorrectly filled out form, or a piece of evidence that you've neglected to include for example. The guides on this site should help you avoid an RFE. Having received one ourselves my word of advice is, read the guides, read them again, then once more just to be sure! We missed providing the beneficiay's letter of intent to marry in our original application. That mistake added a few weeks on.

    Thank you! :)

  5. No it doesn't mean that once they send and RFE that status change to Request for Evidence Sent or something like that. I guess you could have your case number handy. But they would still email you back because they would need a consent form that will be signed by you to look into the case. No we didn't talk to the congressman. I believe it was an assistant that answered.

Thank you so much for your patience. I really hope this works out.

  6. We called because they weren't getting back to our email. Then we left our info over the phone and got back to us through email. And it took about a week for them to finally notify us that the EAD wasn't going through because of the pending background check. And RFE is request for evidence. Basically if anything is missing in the initial packet you sent they send you a letter of what they need. I'm assuming that's the reason why we were delayed too.

When I check my status online, it says: "case was received".

However, the notice that I received after my service request was placed said: "Your case is under review".

Does it mean that I could be receiving an RFE too?

And what type of documents should I keep handy when I call the congressman office? Did you talk to the congressman directly?

And have you gotten your Employment authorization card yet or just an approval?

  7. Please click the link below to see the new RFE Master List:

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1bzoWOXOCsvHICvLEZt540eG2CkqEFaPV8MY18Q6E0f0/edit?usp=sharing

I have compiled the data from the 125 page original RFE Master List Post and put it into a google sheets doc. Please keep a few things in mind when viewing this list.

    1. It is easiest to view this new list from a PC but if you want to view it from your mobile phone please make sure to have the Google Docs app downloaded to your phone. It will open the link in a much more easily viewed version for your cell phone.

    2. If you posted in the original thread and do not see your name on the list that is due to a few things: Timeline was not fully updated, information regarding what your RFE was for was not provided, or how you answered your RFE was not clearly provided.

    3. Date Approved on the document corresponds to when members received their NOA2 after responding to their RFE.

    Notes moving forward.

    1. I will continue to update this list with new data as it comes but to be added to the list and to continue making it helpful please make sure your timeline is updated with all the dates, you post exactly what your RFE was for, and exactly what you did to respond to your RFE.

    2. If you have a question about your RFE please continue to post them in this new thread but make sure to actually view the document before asking what you should send. I did try and make what was requested and what was sent in short and simple to not make the document to large, so if you do not understand what I put please PM me with the LINE of the document you are unclear about and I will give you a more detailed answer. (I kept the long answer on a side document only for me to view if needed) ex. Line 61 says "Left various questions blank on form I-129F" what did they leave blank? I would answer your PM with They forgot to check the questions NO for convicted of crime related to IMBRA.

General FAQ's From the Thread Answered from Completing the Document.

    1. What does RFE mean?

Request For Evidence- This is when USCIS needs more information in order to approve your petition.

    2. How long does it take to receive my RFE hard copy?

According the data it is usually 1 to 2 weeks. If it takes longer, contact USCIS and put in a service request to have a new one sent.

    3. How long after I respond to my RFE will I get an approval?

According to the data it is usually 2 weeks to get an approval. There are plenty of outliers that are shorter and longer but the average is two weeks.

    4. What documents do I need to provide translations for in English?

All legal documents such as birth certificates, divorce decrees, legal name change documents, and if able it helps to translate hotel receipts but these are not required.

I am sorry in advance as it might be a stupid question but I'm still going to ask it, does USCIS send every K1 visa holder an RFE for further proceedings or it's only in some cases?

  8. First by email. Then by phone and then back to email. Just check online for your local congressman and on their website they always have a section for inquiries. They didn't give us a time frame either, but eventually it happened. About meeting them in person, it may or may not help. I guess it depends on the case of heard of people saying that it's no use. But personally it shows that you're doing something right? So it would be up to you.

Why did you have to talk to them on the phone when you emailed? Could you please elaborate? And did it take time to hear back from the congressman? And you mentioned RFE earlier, what's that???

I'm sorry for asking so many questions but I'm actually thankful for this forum as my anxiety has somewhat subsided now. I'm still worried though.

I called the USCIS again today and again they forwarded a request only. Nothing else! I wonder why it's taking so long :(

    Hi,

I am waiting for the EAD card too, I filed the papers in the last week in January, and they mailed the approval notice in March but I missed it because my name was not in the mailbox, so I called them and they sent it to me back, I just done my fingerprint last May 4 and nothing new until now.

    good luck

Was it K1 visa for you too?

  9. This happened to us as well. We contacted our Congressman. They contacted USCiS. And in our house they said that the background check was still pending and that is why it was taking so long. We applied in November for AOS and EAD. Got an RFE in December 2015 and submitted the paperwork in January 2016. We just got notice of the EAD and AP being approved on April 28. So don't worry, you'll get a response soon. Why not try making an appointment with a local USCIS office to inquire about it? Hope you get it soon. Take care!

Hi, thank you for the reply.

How did you contact your congressman? Via email or phone? And I have called the offices twice and all i hear from them is that my case is under review and i will receive a decision or further notice shortly. That's all. No time frame. Do you think meeting them in person will do better?

  10. I don't believe it should take so long. I have had 3 EAD cards and all times have taken just over 2 months but never more than 3 months. When I filed my AOS a month later I had Biometrics in November then in First week of January my EAD arrived I'm sure if there wasn't holidays I would of had it sooner.

Maybe you can get in touch with your local congressman /congresswoman or ombudsman . I have heard that really helps to speed up the process

Thanks so much for replying. I was being told that it's normal for it to take this long. :( I'm worried now.

  11. Hi,

I filed my case for AOS and EAD in December after marrying my fiance. I got a reply for Biometrics and I had been done and over with my fingerprinting since January. All I've been waiting for since then is my EAD which according to the probable timeframe of 90 days should have been here in March. But it's May now and I'm still waiting. I have called the Uscis helpline and also received a notice from them saying "your case is under review". This was in April. I called them again last Friday and they said I have to wait till 30 days to hear back from them. 30 days ending tomorrow so I'll call them again to see why is it taking so much time! My husband and I are freaking out. Is it normal? I was supposed to get a job, start school, start a life here and I'm sitting at home. My honeymoon period has passed too now and i just want to do something. Don't even have a driver's license because theres no evidence of my case which is under process. :( Is it normal for it to take long guys?

Also, if I wanna take admission in a college, do you think I'd get it? I don't even know which category I fall into since I'm still waiting for all my documents.

Please, whoever has gone through this process recently, reply. :)
