  1. Thanks for the help.

I was finding so much conflicting information out there and the process has changed so many times over the last few years it was hard to be sure about anything. I ended up following the link below exactly, I hope it is up to date. Did anybody elses package follow this blueprint? One area where I was confused was the medical exam. I don't really understand what they were saying but from what I have read border patrol takes the sealed package(wife confirmed this) and sends it to the USCIS so it should be in their hands. That is with a K1/k2 anyway.

  2. Wait. So I have to file a completely different AOS package for her son who came along with her?

I did not seen this anywhere but I do now.

Does that only mean a separate I-485 or do I also need the other documents for the 13 year old boy? (I-131 I know I need now). And a 13 year old boy is so sign his own I485? What about a g-325a?

How can i make sure I am doing everything correctly? What did everybody else do to make sure they filed correctly? This stuff has me so stressed.

  3. Hi,

Do I need to fill out a separate I-131 for K-2? This is all extremely confusing and reminds me why I used a lawyer for the actually K visa process. Blah!

To keep things less complicated I may just avoid the I-131 as we don't actually have any travel plans but I was preparing for any emergency that might come up.

If I do not File the I-131 when would my family be able to travel and re-enter? I can't seem to find this information or my first question anywhere.

  4. ^^ Sorry, thats how she said it. She meant that the US embassy in Peru wants the documents mailed to the fiance.

Yes I think the same thing. As long as my fiancé has the original documents the day of the interview it will be fine. That is what is needed.

My lawyer comes across as a bit of a robot and often doesn't explain reasoning. I am not sure if I was not understanding something or she just can't think outside the box and take into consideration that I am flying down there 3 days before the interview and can hand deliver the documents to my fiancé.

So thats why I asked. To make sure I am not misunderstanding something I need to do. The lawyer sure as hell can't explain anything outside of "the embassy wants that you send the documents to your fiancé now"

  5. Hi, my fiancé has an interview in 2 weeks and I will be attending with her.

I have a lawyer because I am busy and stress over these types of things. The lawyer basically did the paperwork and provided tips here and there.

She(the lawyer) is now saying I need to mail my documents to my fiancé.... affidavit, tax forms, proof of employment etc etc.

She is extremely direct and short and just says "you need to mail them now".

I am flying down for the interview so can I just carry them down and save the 50-100$? "you need to mail them now because the embassy wants that"

I don't really need to mail them right? I just need to have original documents. Is that correct? Why would it matter how they get there? As long as they are original and there with using the interview.

    Thanks for your time.

BTW I will write up a review on the lawyer once this process is done. I should have a lot of info for people on that topic. Who it can hep and who should go at it alone etc etc.

  6. When applying for the CRBA how does the process work for applying for the passport as well. Do I just show up at the CRBA appointment with all the proper documents in hand, along with the other parent and they will just allow us to fill out the passport DS-11 right there? I ask because I would have questions on filling out the DS-11 for a 1 month old baby. It is not as cut and dry as filling out the required CRBA DS-2029.
