  1. My wife and I got here NY a couple of days ago. The POE was simple except the very first officer we went to was new and was a bit nervous and after trying for ten minutes or so sent us to the back room where my wife and I set nervously for about 15 minutes before a man handed over our paper work and asked us to go to the final stop where two nice ladies took my finger prints and offered welcome greetings. I went the same afternoon to the Social Security office where they told me that I will get my new SS card in a week or so.

I might have to leave the country and go back to work before even I receive my Green Card in the mail (the immigration officers told me that it should be ok), any comments, suggestions or experiences in that regard, please?

Thanks everyone and Good luck to all of you!

  2. After a very long, painful and a rough journey, my visa was finally issued on last Friday. This site has been extremely helpful and kept us going through some very rough times. I would especially like to thank Marry for being very kind, supportive and helpful. I would also like to thank everyone else who contribute their experience on this website and have given their tips/suggestions to me in the past.

My wife and I are going to New York together on the 28th. We are not sure if are going to stay there for long but we have decided to avail the opportunity for now, particularly after such a tortuous route.

I would welcome your input, suggestions, and experience of POE at the JFK, NY. Please let me know what happens there, what kind of interview (questioning) I should expect there.

    Thank you all again!

    Nair.

  3. Thanks Marry. So, perhaps, anyone who is been waiting for a year or so will have to do these forms again. I hope this is it because, as you can imagine, my wife and I are just so tired of it.
    Hi Folks,

As many of you know that I have been on AP since April of last year. Now they are asking me to resubmit forms DS-230, both Part I and Part II. Has this happened to anybody before? Have you heard of it? Please give me your input.

    Thanks.

Yes this is new and you have to resubmit the forms. They have been revised since you filled them out the year before. PAIN07 CR-1/IR-1 contacted me a few months back since they were asking for this and told me the forms had been revised. I informed him to resubmit them and it asked for more specific facts and to make sure that he addressed all the questions. Sure enough after some time his visa was ajudicated and I updated the list for the forums. Please do what they ask and inshallah you will have your visa shortly.

    Hey Nair1

I can imagine how tired u guys are of it! Me and my husband are in the same boat. We have also been on AP for over a year-its so frustrating

I hope u hear some good news soon!

Send the requested papers asap before somethin else comes up!

    Best wishes

    Saeedeh

Thank you, Saeedeh. I hope your husband gets his visa real soon too.

When I called DOS this morning to see if the embassy has sent me the request yet, the visa officer told me that she only sees a comment on my file that the Islamabad might ask me for another DS-230 but it doesn't mean I will get one for sure. You never know, every time you call, you get a new response. Best wishes for you as well.

  5. Thanks Khurram. DOS tells me that although my case is still pending, they can see that Islamabad has asked me for resubmitting forms DS-230 (I have not received the letter yet). The lady I spoke with at the DOS said that I should send those forms asp and hope for the best.

I haven't seen this happen before, What does the DOS say on the status of your Case

  6. As for me (old timers know about son) we got more bad news and two more surgeries are to be performed end of November. We got confirmation he is totally deaf in his left ear. This will be about his 15th and 16th surgery since 2002 so please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

    Mary

My wife and I hope and pray that your son's next surgery is a success. May you and your husband find strength in these tough times!

  10. Congrats for everything, Dude!

I wish you and your family the very best of luck.

    Nair.

    Hi friends.

Atlast, i had happy reusion on August 15's eve.

I reached Houston after a long journey of 28 hours. I opted the route Karachi-Dubai-London-Houston. Upto London, Emirates was my host and later Continential served me.

Immigration process was smooth. They took 1 hour inorder to complete the paper proceedings. NO question asked except custom point of view and confirmation of my destination address. No fun seen for holding Xray and vaccination record.

And well, after reaching home. My daughter came in this world to say me "welcome home daddy!" as Allah blessed me Baby girl on August 16 (just within 20 hours i have landed houston).

    Cheeeers

And i must, once again, admit the guidence and help provided by this great site.

Thank you VJ. Thank you VJ's.

    -Dude

    any male got approveD?

    or heard anything?

    take care and best wishes!

    :)

    regards

    saeedeh

    hey Saeedah,

the problem over here is that when someone does get approved they don'y update others as they just stop showing up. I think they should at least do the courtesy of updating everyone so we have a little perspective on the timelines.

Anyway, my wife is on AP as well so i am in the same boat with you guyz. :(

Most people do report upon getting the visa. Unfortunately, very few (I'm talking about the men applicants only) on this thread have actually received the visa this year. Quite frankly, when you're waiting for years to be reunited with your family, you don't feel like talking much anyways.

  13. Lol! Shon! I am a living proof! Thats not true men dont get visas! I applied for a visa after your hubby and got it!

They do get visas! But after the AR/AP is done! A president of a country has better things to do than to make sure Pakistani men do not come to this country!

    you came BEFORE 2007.

there was a directive ordered that NO pakistani men will be allowed here.

    unless its K-3 or K-1. .

michigan the ONLY reason why your azz is here. because you decided to play the medical card.

you milked her illness and suddenly like magic she is cured. you have a stack of international visas to prove it.

I would NEVER and COULD never use my medical illness to bring javed here. I rather him come the right way

and not have him here on Pitty. I am not like YOU!

and yes I have a valid medical problem I was dignosed with a brain tummour.

I don't really know how long this feud is being going on between you guys but based on this particular argument I can tell that two of you definitely have some sort of history. Here's my two cents on the issue that you guys are currently seem to be locking horns over:

Michigan, you're right, there is no doubt that the President of a country has better things to do than planning day to day visa policies for a specific country. But whenever people blame a president they normally mean his or her administration and there is no denying that the Bush administration can do a thing or two to fix the current mess. The present visa policy for the Muslim males is un-American, to say the least. It defies, or some would even argue, that it blatantly challenges the most important pillars of the American justice system: One being the doctrine of equal opportunity (it take, on average ten days after the interview for a European male to receive his immigrant visa) and the other one is the golden principle that you are innocent till proven guilty (many Muslim men feel that they are being treated as criminals during this painful process). The entire security check system also confronts the common sense. As I'm sure you are aware of the fact that by the time you are cleared from one check there is good chance that your last check is expired—and this can go on and on. Needless to say that none of us want any compromise when it comes to the security of the United States, but many of us believe that there must be a better way to do this whole process.

Asking applicants to resubmit medical and police certificates itself is a conundrum of a sort. In a country where almost 35% of the population makes less than 1$ a day, how reasonable it is to demand a new medical check that could cost over $100. How about going to your local police station for a new police clearance. Most Pakistanis would tell you that going to police for anything is the most uncomfortable experience. It is hard to believe that the American embassy is Pakistan is not aware of the widespread police corruption in the country. When even a hard-core criminal can get a clearance if he/she is willing to pay the right amount then why even put people through this torture repeatedly

Now the question is why nothing is being done so far to alleviate the misery of so many Muslim males? Well, simply because they don't have a strong enough lobby in the Washington yet to fight for them. Have you been reading about the Imus? Well, this famous radio talk show host was fired last week by CBS and MSNBC for saying something awfully racist about black female athletes. The fact that the African-Americans finally have some clout in Washington as well as in business world left no choice for Imus's employers but to fire him. Now here's an interesting twist to this story: in November of 2004 a conversation took place between Imus and his co-host implied that US should get their news reporter out of the the Palestinian refugee camps and then bomb the whole place (not to mention that he has also repeatedly referred to Arabs as "ragheads") as all of them (the Palestinians) are animals. Do you think any action was taken against him than, well think again—nothing was done, he wasn't even suspended for few days?

Bunny, there are thousands of men who have applied for visa at the Islamabad embassy and only a dozen or two have opted to record their experiences on this website—definitely not a big enough sample to draw any inferences about the American visa policy towards the Muslim men. By the way, if you have a genuine medical problem, and by bringing it to the attention of the authorities you can bring your husband home sooner, then what's wrong with it. That's just my personal opinion.

    Take care you guys.

  14. Nair1,

You can update your chart, my wife got her visa last Wednesday :-)

  15. HOW LONG ARE SPECIAL CLEARANCES VALID?

Special clearance validity is defined as the period of time from the date of a clearance response from the Department to the ending date of the validity. During the validity period, you can issue a qualified applicant one or more visas without having to submit another SAO request. Special clearances are valid for the following periods:

    BEAR-3 MONTHS

    CONDOR-3 MONTHS

    DONKEY-3 MONTHS

    EAGLE-12 MONTHS

MANTIS-3 MONTHS( or up to 12 months if returning to the same program)

    MERLIN-12 MONTHS

HOW CAN YOU EXPEDITE A CLEARANCE REQUEST?

The Department has a limited ability to expedite clearance requests and may not be able to comply with requests to expedite processing. If you need expedited process of a name check or SAO request, you must explain the urgency of the case and provide a tentative itinerary. Urgent cases usually involve medical emergencies, humanitarian concern or United States Government (USG) interest in the traveler's early arrival in the United States.

NOTE: The national visa center (NVC) does not have the ability to expedite clearance requests. You must send any request for expeditious handling by cable to the department as a Visa DONKEY (or Visa BEAR or Visas MANTIS, when appropiate) for consideration. You should state EXPEDITED REQUEST in the subject line for such requests and limit your requests to those situations outlined above.

THE FOLLOWING COUNTRIES CURRENTLY HAVE SPECIAL CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:

AFGHANISTAN, ANGOLA, ARMENIA, AZERBAIJAN, BELARUS, BOSNIA, BURMA, CENTRAL AFRICAN REBULIC, CHINA, CROATIA, CUBA, GAZA, GEORGIA, HAITI, HERZEGOVINIA, IRAN, IRAQ, ISRAEL, KAZAKHSTAN, KRGYZSTAN, LAOS, LIBERIA, LIBYA, MACEDONIA, MOLDOVA, MONGOLIA, MONTENEGRO, NORTH KOREA, PAKISTAN, RUSSIA, RWANDA, SERBIA, SIERRA LEONE, SLOVENIA, SOMALIA, SUDAN, SYRIA, TAJIKSTAN, TURKMENISTAN, UKRAINE, VIETNAM, WEST BANK, ZIMBABWE

I am not sure if this is how actually things are being done, but if they are then may the whole thing needs to be revised. I'm not saying at all that the security of the United States should be compromised but there must be a better way to do it. If you clear one security check and the other one is expiring at or around the same time then you don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure out that there is something terribly wrong with the process.

  16. Yesterday I was put on AP for the third time in eleven months. I believe many from the following list are also facing the same predicament. It would be a good idea for others to update their status as to when they were put back on AP so we can get strength from each other's progress.
