Today Gie and I went to see the Civil Surgeon to get our vaccination supplement done. Of course, having read this site extensively, I knew that a full physical was not required for a K-1 visa holder. Well after going around and around with the doc over whether a full physical was required or not, he politely informed me that he was going to charge the same amount ($90) regardless. My first instinct was to walk, but as Gie's interview is next week, I didn't have the time to find another surgeon and schedule an appt.
Well, he took me for the $90. No sleep lost over that. But what bothers me is that USCIS is putting money in the pocket of a scam artist by designating this guy as a civil surgeon. And of course, they provide no means to make reports of un-ethical business practices of their civil surgeons that I'm aware of.
If anyone is in need of a civil surgeon on Oahu, PM me and I will tell you who NOT to go to.

Congrats to Angelmae and Gomez! The feeling of being approved was only eclipsed by the feeling of having my darling here with me finally! Were still both in shock a little bit, but just a wonderful feeling. Here's wishing you will be with your loved one soon!

Well I guess the pink-and-white approved sticker was nothing to worry about after all, Delbros delivered Gizelle's visa to her on Sunday in San Pedro, Laguna. (10 days) Just one more step to go!!! November 4 cant possibly come fast enough, hahaha!
-
I was curious about this also, because according to Gie the consul gave her a pink and white approved sticker. The interview was very easy for her, and the consul was very friendly and gave her a big congratulations when it was over. Hopefully, it just means they need to buy more green and white stickers, hahaha.

Just got off the phone with my beloved, and wanted to share the good news with you all.......APPROVED!!!!
Zelle said the interview was a breeze, just a few basic questions from a very friendly consular officer. I want to thank each and every contributor to this great forum, your help and inspiration has been invaluable. Will give an update when the visa is delivered.

For me, it took 13 weeks before I got a touch, and was approved that same day. I know the wait seems agonizing, but your day will come. Good luck!

I just got the letter from the personnel office, it's more "official" looking and was signed by my commanding officer. Why take half-steps in this process when a 10 minute visit to the personnel office will leave no doubts in your mind if your documentation is sufficient??
-
Congratulations, the hard part is over now that USCIS is done processing, and having a firm interview date makes the waiting process so much easier. As you can see from my timeline, our interview was scheduled 13 weeks after our NOA2, which is about typical as of late according to recent timelines. Hopefully, they can get you in there a bit sooner, October doesnt seem out of the realm of possibility.

I was concerned about putting the amount shown in my W-2 also since half of my base pay last year was non-taxable combat pay. In speaking to other guys in my unit who have gone thru this process before, they assure me that they put their TOTAL entitlements, including all allowances, and had no problems when a few current LES's were attached to the form. Hope this helps.
-
Speaking with people in my squadron that have been through the process before, in their experience the letter from the command along with a few LES's and their last tax return were sufficient in every instance. It's hard to find employment more steady than the military, and the immigrations officers are well aware of that.

Oh by the way, thanks for adding the timeline Patiently, but as of 5 mins ago it needs to be updated again....just got a call from Gizelle and she said she received her packet today! The funny thing is, it falls on her birthday (Oct. 5) so hopefully we will have a double celebration party that night. Ok, I think I'm ready to stop jumping up and down with joy, hahaha.

but at least he could have given someone the opportunity to take it over rather than just quit! Geez...
agreed! seems like in a community that big there would be someone with the time and resources to take over. hopefully someone will step forward and take the reins from Bob. till then, guess i will be found perusing BNN.

The website host made the announcement yesterday on administration section of the forum. Basically, he stated that he no longer had the time to administer the forum, and that he had lost the two major sponsors and the server fees were too expensive to continue financing. I was really sad to hear about this news because that forum was such a wealth of information and a great way to meet other Fil-Am couples.

I was having the same dilemna earlier, but was assured by an immigration atty. that transcripts acquired from the IRS would be sufficient. I received them about a week after calling them.

Thanks to everyone for the encouragement, and the patience has finally paid off.....on the same day I got my first touch, I got approved. What a tremendous relief this has been.
Juliekins: In my letter to the senator (John Cornyn- Texas), I basically stated the facts of the case in my letter, that I was originally told that it would take between 90-120 days for approval, and that 127 days had passed since my NOA-1, and I was concerned that the petition was lost since I have seen others approved at this service center with petition dates much later than my own. Also, I made the argument that the delay was becoming a financial burden, and that the delay would have the effect of shortening the amount of time my fiancee would have to adjust to being here before I was scheduled for a military deployment next year. In retrospect, I should have been a writer!, hahaha. Also, I faxed this letter along with the release to shorten the amount of time involved corresponding. Hope this helps.

I checked the case status one last time last night before bedtime, and to my amazement...approved! My roomates were not amused that I was running thru the house yelling and dancing at 2am, but oh well! Thanks to all for your support during that difficult time. I hope that all who have outstanding petitions will get your good news soon.
-
Well it appears talking to my senator might have lit a fire under CSC's ###, I got my first touch today in 4 and a half months.
-
Sorry I will work to get that timeline put in my sig. Anyways, my receipt date was 16 Feb, and the case has not been updated since 19 Feb. I made the request to my senator last week, and his office will supposedly call me when they receive any information from USCIS. I get the feeling that your petition and my petition are sitting in the same lost bin, maybe when they look into mine they will see yours there too!
-
I am one of those forementioned people in a pre-imbra status with no NOA-2 yet, and I find it hard to believe that I am in AR or security checks seeing as how I havent been touched since it's received date. Well, as of yesterday I have the senator on the case, so I hope I can at least know soon one way or the other.
-
Thanks for the heads-up, though I must say im disappointed to hear that it wasnt anything very informative.
-
According to an ABS-CBN press release, they will be taking a tour of the CSC on this week's show. Although this show is primarily dealing with Filipino immigration issues, the information they present is valid to most situations, and the show is presented in English as well. Might be worth a look for those with TFC.

February 16 and still no touch!

I feel for you, Cali.....its been 4 months and a week since CSC got my petition, and it has been painful to say the least. I got my senator involved this week as well, and hopefully a quick resolution will come from this. I'm really keeping my fingers crossed for you too.

I have been browsing this forum for 2 months now, and it has become an invaluable source of information with regards to immigration issues. Thus far, I have been able to learn many new aspects of this procedure, and have noted that most are extremely courteous and helpful towards others with questions. After reading your initial post and subsequent complaint, I was shocked at your nerve to criticize others. As someone who has been waiting 124 long days for a response to my petition, it really bothers me to hear you complain that you havent received a response within 30 days, and I can fully understand others reactions as well. Bottom line, youre not the only one in agony over being apart from your loved one, and criticizing others here seems akin to biting the hand that feeds you.

I think our interview in Honolulu today might qualify. At promptly 2pm, we went into the office, got sworn in, and then began. The interviewer was very friendly, asked a few absurdly simple questions like "What date was your wedding?" and "What is your address?". She was shuffling through all the documents from the I-485 submission all the while, making jokes, and complimented me on the organization of the paperwork. Before the interview, I was a bit nervous that we didnt have enough evidence, but she never asked for a single piece! Not one photo, one bank statement, not even the vaccination supplement. The whole interview lasted 10 mins, and Gie and I were in disbelief as we walked out at just how simple it was.
I have to give you all alot of credit, I couldnt have done it without ya! Thanks so much for all the help, and looking forward to helping others when I can.
