  1. The request from the embasy for additional IMBRA documentation from EM caused about a two week delay in getting the visa. Initially I was afraid that if we did not supply the proper documentation that my wife's visa would be denied. But everything turned out well. Upon receiving my wife's frantic message in the middle of the night about the embassy's request, I sent an email to EM's support center. They provided me with the same statement that I recieved when I originally sent in the K1 application (I had read that some people that used EM were getting RFEs saying that EM was a marriage broker and I wanted to be proactive).I also called their office in Miami. No one answered the phone, but I left a detailed message explaining the situation and my phone number and my email address. The Miami office replied with an email. They said they could write a special statement but that they needed to make sure we had both been members first. They said that they found me in their system, but could not find my wife. I found her member ID and sent it to them and then they sent me a better statement than the support center. I ended up sending both statements to the email address the embassy gave my wife. A couple of weeks later the visa was approved, and a week after that my Russian angel was in my arms again. So, if you want to avoid this delay, make sure you are prepared when you go for your interview and take the letter from EM with you. Good luck everyone!

  2. Hello Everyone,

My fiancée had her K1 visa interview at the US embassy in Moscow on September 23rd, and for the most part everything went well, except when the conversation turned to where we met (Elena's Models) the person interviewing her brought up IMBRA. He said that it seemed to him that EM was a marriage broker and that we needed a statement from them explaining whether or not they were a marriage broker. When I initially filled out the I-129f, I did not know how to answer if we had met with the help of a marriage broker. On VJ, I found that some people who had met on EM or similar sites posted that they answered No, and had no problems. I also found that others answered No and received an RFE. So to try to avoid an RFE, I answered no and supplied an email that I had requested from EM. The email from EM said that they were exempt from IMBRA for various reasons. We were approved with no RFE, so I thought we were done with any questions about IMBRA. After the interview my fiancée called me and I could not believe that we still had to deal with this. I called and emailed EM and got a reply the next day. I forwarded the reply, which was very similar to the first one I had sent USCIS. BTW, when she was initially asked about where we met, my fiancée showed the interviewer the first email from EM but he still wanted a new statement, and I was not present at the interview. She left her passport there, which I think is a good sign. My question is this: Has this happened to anyone else? If so how long did it take to get the K1 visa after the requested document was sent? Could her visa be rejected if they determine that EM is a marriage broker? Thanks in advance.
