  1. We received an RFE on my wife's latest immigration step to remove her conditions.  No big deal, we got an RFE last time.  Not worried.

But the pre addressed envelope they sent with our letter to mail back the evidence is way too small.  There is no way everything they are asking will fit.  It's ok if I send my RFE in a larger envelope, right?  I don't HAVE to use the envelope they provided, correct?  Dumb question, I know.

  2. The NOA we received, reminding us to submit form i-751, was sent to our OLD address.  This has me worried.  We changed our address online using form AR-11 in July 2018 (just 5 days after moving).  We received an email notice from USCIS that confirms it was submitted properly - that email has our new address listed plus a unique AR-11 #.  Today, I read that we should have received something in the mail about our address change but we never did.  I thought the email was confirmation confirmed all was good.  So, in our i-751 submission, I included the email we received from USCIS, showing that it was submitted in July with an explanation that our NOA was mistakenly sent to our old address.

Should I be worried?  Is there a chance somehow our address change was never actually confirmed?  I filled out the form online correctly - we moved after my wife received her conditional green card so there was no case pending at the time.  Anyone else ever have this same issue?  Thanks for any help or answers.

  3. My wife's Green Card expires at the end of the April.  The instructions say to submit the paper work 90 days before the GC expires so that would put it at the end of January.  Question:  Do I have to submit the paperwork EXACTLY 90 days before or does it just have to be within those 90 days? If I don't submit it till the end February, will we be OK?  I'm asking because I have to save up the $ for the wonderful filing fee.  Thanks for any answers.

  4. A great day for my wife and I.  Her green card has arrived (and her work authorization too) and we had NO interview.  How normal is it to receive a green card with no interview?  (She arrived here on a fiance visa).

The green card is good for 2 years.  Even though it says "Permanent Resident" on the card, I think the two years means "conditional resident," right?

Also, the work authorization is good for one year only.  I did not realize we would have to apply for another work visa in a year.  Is that normal?

We did this all ourselves.  No help from lawyers.  Visa Journey has been a big help.  If we can do it, so can you.

  5. My wife is here on a K-1 visa still.  We have sent in our forms for adjustment of status and received our first NOA - her biometrics (fingerprinting) appointment is next week.

    Questions:

We may have to move to another state due to the fact I may be getting a great job.  If we move, it seems like it's pretty easy to change your address.  But what happens if they don't receive the change and the interview is scheduled in our old city?  Is it easy to call them up and tell them we now live in a new city/state or can we just fly back to the old city and do the interview there even though we now live in a new state?  I guess I'm just a bit worried about moving while we're still waiting for all of this.  Anyone else move while waiting for the big interview?

Second quick question, does the work visa show up in the mail?  Does the interview have anything to do with the work visa?  If all of my forms are correct and accurate, do they just send her the work visa in the mail?  I'm just not entirely sure how that will show up and if there is anything else we need to do?

I appreciate any answers you can give.

  6. Our Adjustment of Status package was delivered in Chicago two weeks ago on Wednesday, January 11.  In this was also my wife's application for a work visa and travel.  The check still has not been cashed, no email notification, and nothing in the mail.  When we sent in the package for the the K-1 visa to Dallas, the check was cashed in a few days after they received everything.  I know this takes time and I need to be patient but I really thought the check would have been cashed by now.  Should I be worried?  Does Chicago take longer than Dallas?  Everything I sent was perfect and super organized just like our original K-1 application which went perfectly.  Getting nervous.  Should I be?

  7. My fiance is here on a K-1 visa. We are in the process of submitting the I-485 form (Register Permanent Residence).

Since she had her medical exam in Venezuela, it says all we need to submit is a vaccination supplement (which I believe is form DS3025). However, my fiance was given a SEALED envelope after her examination which she gave to the Embassy in Venezuela for her interview. She never got anything back in return regarding her medical report or vaccinations. She was given another sealed envelope from the embassy to give to the immigration officer in Miami at her Point of Entry.

How can we submit the vaccination information if she never received anything? Can we assume they already have this information for her since it was in the sealed envelope? Can we request a completed DS3025? I would hate for her to have to take ANOTHER medical exam and get ANOTHER round of vaccinations - that does not sound healthy to me.

Can anyone provide me with info about this? The DS3025 form says "give copy to applicant" but she was never given a copy.

Any help would be very appreciated. Thank you!

  8. My fiance has her interview (K1) in Venezuela next month. Does her divorcee decree need to have the apostille stamp on it? We already submitted the decree (with a translation) and without an apostille when we sent in our original USCIS application and everything was fine. All I read is that she needs to have it with her for her interview and that it can even be a photocopy. I'm also curious if her medical and/or criminal report need to be translated for the interview? According to the official US website, documents in foreign languages, other than the language of the country in which the application takes place, should be translated. So if her medical and criminal reports are in Spanish, we should be totally fine, right?

    Thanks much.

  9. I am going for a K-1 fiance visa. My fiance has paid her fee and made her interview appointment at the Embassy. So far, things are going well with the process - no bumps in the road yet.

One simple question: Is there anything else I need to do? I thought NVC was going to send me more forms but I never received any and I also read about an Affidavit of Support fee that I may need to pay? I submitted my Affidavit with my original submission to USCIS and my finance will have a copy that she will bring to the interview. Do I need to do anything else before her interview as the petitioner? It seems to me that it's mostly in her hands now. Thanks much.

  10. My fiance is at the step to pay her fees but there is an expiration date of August 22. I don't know if she will have the funds by then pay this. What is this expiration date? What if it can't be paid by then? And why the @@@@ can't I easily pay this for her with a credit card? She is in Venezuela and getting her cash is not easy - even with Western Union. Does anyone have any information as to what this expiration date means?

Thanks. Please see the attached pic. This is for a K-1 finance visa.

  11. My fiancée is filling out the DS-160. We received our new case number from NVC and she is now working on filling out the DS-160 and scheduling her interview. However, she has gotten to the point where they are asking her to pay the VISA fee. But there is an expiration date listed as August 22 to pay it. This sounds insane to me for her to be able to pay this in 4 days. She does not have the funds in Venezuela and it's virtually impossible for me to send her dollars. We have a plan but it will take longer than 4 days.

Does anyone know what this expiration date means? What if she cannot pay this fee by August 22? Why is there no way for me to pay this by giving her a US credit card number? She has to pay in Venezuelan currency and she does not have the funds available.

See attached pic. The expiration date is at the top. What does this mean? Thanks. We are applying for a K-1 Visa.

  12. We received our second form from USCIS 5.2 weeks ago saying our case was approved. Today, we received an email from the Embassy in Venezuela about my fiance making her interview appointment. However, I still have had no correspondence from NVC. I filled out the form on "Ask NVC" on Friday, August 15 but no response yet (I honestly did not an expect a response yet anyway).

Is it normal to hear from the Embassy first before getting anything from NVC? Should I contact NVC? Is this something to worry about? It's been 40 days since our case was approved.

    Thanks for any help.

  13. Question:

On the I-129F form, they ask for my fiancee's address abroad and her mailing address. She is from Venezuela but uses a US service in called Liberty Express for all mailings. I send her stuff to the Miami address and then then she picks it up in Venezuela at their office. This is is how she gets stuff from Amazon too. That address is actually in Miami, FL.

Question: will it look weird if her mailing address is a US address? Will they send her anything directly in the mail or will only I be getting correspondences in the mail? I can try using her Venezuela address but she's never home and says she doesn't have a traditional mail box anyway. I could also use her work address, but it's the longest address in the world and won't even fit in the box.

    Thanks.
