  1. Hi Guys,

Looking for some advice. I asked for my employment authorisation to be expedited back in October but i've heard nothing since. I know it can take up to 90 days for approval, but surely they would have been in touch by now asking for evidence to proceed with my case? I have phoned the UCIS a number of times now but they cannot give me any more information other than my case being progressed.

  2. Hi All,

I arrived in Florida on a K1 visa back in August. 2 weeks after arrival i filed for my social security number which states the following "Valid for work only with DHS authorisation" My wife and i are now married and have submitted the paperwork for AOS 2 weeks ago along with the I-765 documents for my employment authorisation.

I have been applying for jobs and have been offered 2 positions now. Can i legally work with my SSN and the fact i've submitted the papers or do i have to wait?

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

    John

  3. Since you are on a K1, you may not need the 693, it depends on when you had you K1 physical I.e. Has it been less than a year? You should have a copy of the G3025 vaccination record, and if it is complete, you should be all set. If for some reason the I693 did not make it from the port of entry to your local USCIS office, they will let you know.

    Good Luck!

Thank you for the prompt response.

Yes, it has been less than 6 months and i have a copy of my G3025 from London. So i guess i just make a photo copy of this and include it in my AOS package and then all set? I was under the impression all K1 holders had to visit a surgeon for final approval.

    Cheers

  4. Hello All,

    I'm getting all the documents ready for my AOS package to send and have a question regarding the I-693;

If you are applying for adjustment of status, you may submit Form I-693 in one of the following ways:

    • Submit Form I-693 by mail, together with your Form I-485, Application to Register for Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, to the location specified for your Form I-485 (see “Direct Filing Addresses for Form I-485”).
    • Submit Form I-693 by mail, after filing your Form I-485, to the location specified in your most recent communication with USCIS (for example, a Request for Evidence letter from USCIS).
    • Submit Form I-693 in person, at an interview in a USCIS field office (if an interview is required).

Whats the best and quickest way to submit i-693? Should i see a civil surgeon before i submit my AOS package?

Also, if anyone can reccomend a reliable and affordable one in South West Florida, i will be entirely grateful.

    Cheers

    John

  5. Hi All,

Did anyone have any problems booking their K1 interview online with the DS-160 field? I've put in all the information including case number, passport number etc but when I try and submit I get the error 'DS-160, number already taken'

    Cheers

  6. Hi All,

I'm ready to book my medical for next week now we have the london case number, police certificate and up to date with my jags. How long roughly does the medical take so I can arrange flights?

Also, does it matter if I submit my note of readiness before having the medical or after? Will it quicken the process for my eventual interview at the embassy? We think we now have all the documents required.

    Cheers

    John

  7. I know for sure for a London interview, the OP is correct with the WAC number. There have been many discussions and people who did WAC or LND had zero problems. Win-Win situation even if you put LND.

Case number is not part of UK police certificate.

DS-160 is not seen by the medical folks so no matching there.

NOA 2 is not part of the London interview and hasn't been for at least 8 years If ever. They know you are approved and even mail the beneficiary a copy of the approved petition.

OP is on the right path.

London case number received today :) Police certificate was submitted 12 days ago so should be here shortly.

    Thanks again for you help.

  8. Ah, that is a very good question that I can't answer. You definitely jumped ahead on that one. Maybe you can get away with it but someone else should answer that. It's possible you can do another and then bring it with you to the interview. The problem I think is it matching up with anything that you do with the Police Report and the Medical. I do know you have to bring an original copy of your NOA2 to the interview.

I'm not sure how it managed to process even tho I gave the wrong #. Hopefully it won't make a difference.

  9. Thanks for the help,

In haste, I have submitted the DS-160 with the wrong case number / reference. I used the WAC reference number used for checking the status on the UCIS website.

They have sent me back the DS-160 paperwork with the conformation page and barcode I should bring along for the interview.

Do you think this would be okay or should I have to start over and wait for the London #?

  10. Hello,

We recently received our NOA 2 and patiently waiting for the London case number before we go ahead and book the medical. Question, Do I need to wait for the London Case Number before I can fill out the DS-160?

I've had my shots and my police certificate should arrive this week, too. Happy days.

    Cheers

  11. Hey,

No - As long as she can prove on the AOS that she will support you/ is able to support you when you move the U.S you will be just fine!!

  12. Good Evening all,

I'm new to the forum but finding all the information and advice extremely helpful in our K1 journey, keep up the good work!

Basically, to cut a long story short, I quit my job in November 2015 to travel to Florida and visit my Girlfriend on a tourist esta visa for the full 3 months. I popped the Question and she said YES! Over the moon...

I'm now back in Scotland looking struggling to find a job while we dive into the Visa Process... Does the fact I'm not employed at the moment have any bearing on my application? I have some savings and being frivolous with money in the mean time...

    Cheers
