You cant. You have to start from scratch unfortunately. Do the written test and an eye test to get the learner permit, do a 5 hour course and then do the road test. I don't know the process for K1. I came on a Cr1 and I used my marriage certificate, passport and ssn (this was before I got my green card).

That is true in terms of actually getting a NYS drivers license, but you are still permitted to drive without restriction during the whole process if you have a drivers license from another country. So in other words, just because you have to start from scratch does not mean that you cannot drive during that period. This is what it says on the DMV website:

Yes. Your valid foreign driver license allows you to drive without a supervising driver. You can drive on any street, road, highway, bridge, or tunnel, except in a DMV road test area.

If your driver license is printed in any language except English, you must bring an International Driving Permit or a certified translation of your driver license to the road test. I think they say it will but some users have reported getting their EAD approval before they even receive an RFE so it may just be down to luck

Anybody got rfe for i485??? Am wondering what they want? I didn't send a i864 cause I need a joint sponsor n my husband didn't work 2013 n 2014 n part so I he didn't file tax for those years I think that's what they want am worried I only got the text message today so am waiting for it

Your husband still need to do the I-864 since he is the main sponsor and then the joint sponsor also do the I-864.

Wait, so if my mom is our sponsor and I am the USC was I supposed to fill out the I-864 as well?

For fun, I re filled out the I-864 EZ form and yep, it carries over the Sponsors name to last page, and I did delete it on my original copy........

Check your copy so you can at least know and have a response ready for the RFE.

I'm assuming we'd get an RFE... I don't know the stats on everybody who has done that and if they indeed got an RFE or not for it.

Super hopeful thinking but maybe if this is a problem that is happening to everyone they might let it slide if everything else is perfect... fingers crossed!

Well, I just found out by reading another post about RFEs for the I-864, that I will most likely be receiving an RFE. Turns out, the I-864 at the last page has a section for additional info and it automatically prints the sponsor's name there. I deleted the name there because it made it look like there was additional info - which there isn't. To my surprise, I should have double check the form again but when you delete the name from the additional info section it automatically deletes the name from anther place in the form where it asks for sponsor's name. Somebody got an RFE for that sooo I'll be expecting an RFE now

And no, doing Bio appointments early I do not think speeds things up, but cant hurt to go in early, that's what we are planning when we received our letter., just to get it done with.

Hi guys, we sent our AOS/ EAD/ AP paperwork on Friday and got the texts and emails yesterday.

I have seen people posting about going to their biometrics appointments earlier than the appointment they are assigned. I am just wondering if doing that will speed up the EAD process or only the AOS process? We are not too concerned about AOS or AP but if it will allow him to get work authorization sooner it is definitely something we will do ASAP.

Any information would be appreciated

Does anyone know if DX group delivers passports on Saturdays? CEAC changed to "issued" first thing yesterday morning but we still have not received tracking information. He is having a home delivery to York. Just want to know if there is any chance of him flying out Sunday or if we will have to wait until next week.

Well thats what they tell you, but I have heard others say that they have gotten an email at night and the passport has been delivered the next day. Praying we get that email tonight although we have pretty much lost hope for him flying out Sunday.

Yes! I think that as long as the embassy sent it over to the courier today Friday seems pretty likely for delivery!

When I woke up this morning CEAC still said "ready" but our case creation date had switched to today and it also switched to say "non-immigrant." Now it has just gone into administrative proceeding.

Feeling really discouraged as it does not seem that he will have the visa in time to fly out this weekend which we were hoping for

It just keeps saying that our case number is not ready

Once CEAC says "in transit" it takes 24 hours before the system will let you book an interview... if your status just switched today, you may need to wait until tomorrow!
