  1. Good luck, for the interview. Mumbai embassy people are much better than they were before. My wife had no problems at all. Try to get there early because even if you have appointment time, it becomes somewhat first come first serve. Man there is nothing better than to see her coming out of embassy with huge smile. Best part is you don't have to wait this long process.. Good luck

  2. In case of my wife following was the process: (around Surat, Gujarat)

    1. Two PC's were needed: Clearence from passport office and clearence from local police

    2. Passport office process I am do not know since agent took care of it.

    3. Local police I went with my wife, following happens

I gave them an application (hand written saying what do you need and why, along with supporting docs such as birth cert, marrige cert, ration card copy, and appointment letter copy. They need two or three days to process, my wife received post card to her village saying go to the police station during some hours. Then she and two witnesses sign the application. She received her clearence next day at the office.

Few tips that I think will help:

    1. Each district has different process so get an agent Rs.2000 is a small amount for assurance.

    2. Also use any people who has contact with gov't agancy because process goes very smooth if someone who knows police officers and municiple workers is along your side.

    3. Be prepare to tip them, in my case Rs.400.

  3. I was actively watching this fourm last year as I was awaiting for my petition.

    Following are my observations:

    1. Some people are "cry babies", I noticed many who would start crying if they don't get NOA in timely matter, the fact is when you are in international relationship you have to bare. No crying....

    2. After while many people feel that they are on top of the world, and many provide very useful information.

e.g. Aussie : read her response, always helps, her tricks works, you can cut time by following her steps

Yordak: don't read his posts, he don't contribute by providing useful info but still want to advise (mostly his belief), don't answers to reader's questions but questions them in return.

    3. Some times lying is helpful. If you are little short on your resources make them up, learn from other people's mistakes and lie effectivly.

    4. Don't spend too much time on this forum as you will only get deppressed.

    5. Some people are very dumb, ask questions that are already answered. Do research "slobbbbbs"

    6. Learn how to spell or use spell checker. ( I have made some spell errors find it)

  4. I agree with the rest, K-1 will be the way, it is legal, risk-free, faster. But also keep the following thing in mind:

    1. Did you saw him before or it is online affair?

    2. You will have to show lots of evidense to support your petition at the time of interview becasue I know my friends from india.

On the good side: k-1 and rest of visa process in India will be very very fast starting 2007, look for info on mumbai embassy website, they are going to cut about 50% wait time so good luck.

  5. Thanks Maxuna, I am always relieved when I see your response to any post which concerns me also.

I was also thinking about how I-864 is processed?

NVC takes 3-4 weeks to review I-864 then they send it to the embassy so should we assume that NVC thoroghly checked it and we shouldn't have problem at the embassy???

Also an officer check I 864 at the interview but he/she barely has 5-6 mins how carefully they check it?

One more thought, even though USCIS and DOS has set rules for reviewing I-864 and supporting documents but oficer at the embassy often does not seem to follow them.

  6. So Mexuna, Does it mean that most of the liquid asset and little or no income would be ok?

What I mean is lets say a family of 4 (req is $25,000). sponsor and a family member togather makes $ 19,000/year and has asset (cash and stocks) of $40,000 would not have problem????

Also sponsor changed job six months ago but makes more than before, I sent my I-864 with everything including 3 years tax transcripts, bank letter and bank statements for six months, employer letter, broker's statement but I did not send pay stub as I don't get them. Will this be ok?? I am always worried as always.:lol::lol:

  7. :D:D

My k-3 was approved on oct 20, 2006.

I do not know how to react to it. I am sending out DS-230 form for I-130 and I am not sure which one I should choose now???

On second thought if I am not going to pursue k-3 then what good is the apporoval? I wish I can trade my k-3 approval with someone who is really waiting for it. I am sad when I think that there are other people who needs it more then I do. I hope that those people get approval soon.

But any news is better than no news so I'll rejoice for the moment on this approval anyway :dance::dance::dance::dance:

  8. Hey Sticks, Hi understand but my 130 took more than 6months, I had no problems with my application but it just took too long, there is no logic.

This process is not a scientific so don't compare yourself with others. Just relax, this happens I know this sucks but some people have to live with it. It is sad that it happens to you and me. Also let me tell you more you think about it or think about doing something it hurts more, just take a break this is a test that people like us has to go through.

Just chill. please I don't want you to suffer.

Remember this process is not fair at all, but there is nothing we can do or sadly it is true for politicians too.

  9. I can't believe how far we have reached in our visa Journey. We are at the NVC now and son sending I-864 to the NVC. As I have learned from VJ this is very important stuff.

Now I have been reading VJ posts everyday. I know that rules for I-864 are changed but sometimes they are not reflected at forign embassy (shamefull it is). And people wind up in unnessesary delays.

I have already filled out I-864(new). And gathered following docs, Please tell me if I am missing anything( specially at Mumbai Embessy). Thanks again for contibuting to help unite two lovers without too much suffering.

    List of Docs:

    1. I-864 (new)

    2. I-864 A (femaily member's income, combining the two makes past PL by few hundred only)

    3. Three years of transcripts for both of us.

    4. Three years of tax returns for both of us.

    5. Three years of W-2's and 1099's.

    6. Bank letter from both banks

    7.Job letters from both employers.

    8. Copy of citizen certificate for both

    9. Bank statements for last three months.

My concerns are as follows, and tell me if I should do something about it:

    1. I can't find paystubs, only have last two

    2. My household income is just enough to reach PL ( few hundred over) and I have included stock and CD's on asset list just in case

    3. I changed job and current emplyment since 4 months, but job letter incicates permenant employemt.

    4. I filled new forms but I'll wait for NVC's packet too verify it.

Fellow VJ's please tell me if i'll be ok or not. Also if someone knows a thread that has current info regarding Mumbai Embassy please direct me to it.

    3.

  10. Case: one's I-130 is approved and being processed at NVC. Now k-3 is approved and makes it to the embassy before I130.

Now, is it possible to go for k-3 interview, get a visa and wait for I-130 and go for I130 interview.?

I am thinking of doing this because I don't my wife to wait if I-130 is delayed beyond reasonable time. So she can have k-3 and wait to see if I-130 is processed soon.

  11. Thanks for advise, fellow VJ's. Althogh that advise was not useful but I appriciate the help.

This is how I got barcode working:

    1. I followed Jame's direction and it worked perfectly.

    2. As far as getting x I can say that might be a problem with Java console that process barcode. You can try different computer or in the internet explore under tools click resore to original.

Now when I got my barcode it was on a separate window. I clicked save file as.. and saved it on desktop.

I now have a bitmap image, right click the file on desktop and choose open with: and then choose Microsoft Office picture manager (only If you have it installed on computer). When the file opens up you can cut and paste into the I-864 bill, then with pic edit function crop the barcode so the bottom writing that says:"powered by ..." is out.

It worked and I sent it today, I also had an envelope from my sister's case because she is going with DCF for her husband.

  12. It is not worth to argue with someone who thinks posting on forums and title of some senior member gives them authority to question someone's hard earned money. May be they should question Bill Gates next year after he lives the workforce how is he able to live on $0/year income. The simple fact is people save money and live happy.

My intention was to ask VJ members if someone could qualify based on their assets as a major resource

  13. Yordak, Thanks for your suspicion, My uncle was working for KPMG ( only if you know the firm) for last 15 years, making significant amout of money and has a house paid for. Yordak, lots of people save money for thier early retirement instead blowing them off. They do not live on the street and depend on social security.

So nxet time before you suspect think of a wise man who is not reqired to work anymore.
