  1. As your immigration petition has been approved, I would say they would reject your visit visa. I also applied for a visit visa after my petition was approved. The first thing the CO said was dude your immigration process is pending, cant approve this. Didn't even ask me anything else. Visa fee wasted for nothing lol

On a side note, the Islamabad embassy, where your immigration interview will take place, is SO much more hospitable than the Karachi one.

  2. Hey guys,

So I, the applicant, am filing for adjustment of my status from my K1 visa to a permanent resident and have some questions about the affidavit of support form. My fiancee is my sponsor and her income exceeds the required federal limits. However, she only has tax returns of 2015 and 2014 as she was studying before that and not working. So:

    1) Do i check the box at item 18b in part 6 of the form which says to attach copies of 2nd and 3rd most recent tax returns? Im guessing no as my fiancee has only most recent and 2nd most recent tax returns.

    2) Should I also check item 20 in part 6 of the form stating 'not required to file tax return as income was below IRS level and attach evidence'? Is this only relevant if tax return was not filed for the most recent year or does it apply to my case too?

    Thanks,

  3. Hello,

So I recently moved to US on my K1 visa and am looking to file my AOS soon (hopefully by 1st week of September). I had my medical in May 2016 and from what ive looked up, I only need to submit a copy of form DS 3025 (my copy of the vaccination document worksheet I got after the medical exam in Pakistan) as it has been less than an year from my medical exam till i file for AOS.

Further, in the DS 3025, next to vaccination for influenza, the doctor in Pakistan labelled F (not influenza season). I understand that as my medical exam was not done during the influenza season specified by USCIS (October to March), I should neither be requiring a flu shot now and neithera vaccination transcript from a US doctor for my AOS.

    Thanks

  4. Congratulations.

    1) If they ask your intended address when crossing the border, you give it. If not, you'll make them aware during your AOS filing.

    2) No clue.

    3) A small amount for personal use, with the pre-scriptions (preferably also in English) should be fine.

    4) Only a few non-US airports have US pre-clearance, doesn't look like Doha does - so your POE will be the first airport you arrive at in the US.

    Thanks...

So if asked at the POE, my intended address being different to the one printed on my visa should not be a problem.. also doesnt the sealed package i got from the embassy gets mailed to the address on the visa after they process it???

  5. Hey guys,

So ill be leaving Karachi for the US in 4 days and I have a few queries..

    1) In the petition we mentioned my fiancee's US address where she was residing at the time of filing which is mentioned on my K1 visa issued. Back then she was sharing an apartment with her friend. Since my visa got approved, she has rented a new apartment for us and moved in recently. Can you please guide me about the procedure for communicating such address change to USCIS and should it be done before my departure from Pakistan or upon arrival in the US?

    2) Some people have told me here that not having a return ticket raises eyebrows for the Pakistan immigration authorities and they may ask for additional documentation. And the Pakistan authorities may not be aware of that a K1 is a non-immigrant visa and they wont take my word for it. Would like if anyone would share their experience with the Pakistan immigration. Im planning on taking copies of my petition, NOAs and visa interview letter.

    3) Want to take some medicines with me (painkillers, antibiotics for fever, vitamin supplements). My mom and uncle are both doctors and would a prescription my them on their prescription pads should suffice?? Or should I avoid taking medicines and get them there. Im only looking to take a small amount as precaution for the initial adjustment to change in weather and food till my body gets accustomed to it.

    4) Taking Qatar Airways so my layover will be at Doha. Im assuming i wont go through immigration/POE there but rather at IAD.

    Thanks in advance!!!!! :))

P.S. I passed and completed my Chartered Accountancy this past Monday so now i dont have to worry about applying for AP for completing my education...been a good week so far :)

  6. Hey guys,

So just to recap, i had my interview at the US embassy in Islamabad on May 26th, 2016. My status on CEAC remained READY till June 13th, 2016 when it was changed to AP and to ISSUED the next day on June 14th,2016. It said to contact the embassy if I hadn't received the passport in 10 days. I was waiting for the phone call to have my passport picked up and was going to email the embassy tomorrow.

Randomly checked my email today and US travel docs had emailed me on June 17th that my passport is available for pickup. This email is different to the one provided to the embassy on which i got the interview appointment, which i was regularly checking. Glad i wasnt stuck in AP for long.

So yeah, going to pick it up tomorrow and thanks for all the VJers for their help and support so far!!!!! This page is a Godsend :no:

  7. After all days passed since interview May 31st - our status changed from Ready to "Administrative Processing" on June 13th.... God Knows what to expect now.. It does test your patience.....

Case Creation Date: 31-May-2016 Status Updated Date: 13-Jun-2016
Your visa case is currently undergoing necessary administrative processing. This processing can take several weeks. Please follow any instructions provided by the Consular Officer at the time of your interview. If further information is needed, you will be contacted. If your visa application is approved, it will be processed and mailed/available within two business days.

Similar case here. My status changed from Ready to AP yesterday, even though interview was on May 26 2016. Case creation date and Status Updated Date: 13 June 2016.

Best of luck and keep us updated on your status!!

  8. Aadi - My Fiancé had her interview on 31st May in Islamabad. Interview went really well and she was told she is approved and should receive visa in 10 days. Since then - almost the same day CASE creation date changed to 5/31/2016 and status update on 5/31/2016. CEC status shows Ready and no update since then.. so I decided to send them an email asking for directional timeline - the response was -

    "

    Dear Sir/Madam,

Our record indicates that this case is in its final processing/review. Please feel free to check back with our office after 2 weeks.

    Sincerely,

    Immigrant Visa Unit

    Consular Section, American Embassy

    Islamabad, Pakistan

    <KM10>

    "

The funny thing is her status does not show AP .. Just ready... Not really sure what is this email means - Final processing or review? Why would they call for interview or tell someone your visa approved and receive it in 10 days - if that is not case?

    Ashif

Yeah.. the 10 days thing seems to be a standard thing told to all applicants. From what I've read on this forum, takes around at least one to two months after the interview to have the visa issued. So wasn't really expecting to have it in 10 days. U say ur case creation date also changed to May 31, 2016. Shouldn't this remain same as the original case creation date?

The thing that did bother me was my status showing 'ready' instead 'AP' after the interview. But my status update dates after the interview on May 26th changed to June 02, 07 and 10, so felt it was moving forward and didn't bother emailing the embassy about it.

Anyway, hopefully you're fiance gets her visa soon, processing of female applicants visas is faster as per comments on the forum :)

  9. Have a blessed day yesterday my interview it's gonna be good the cosular officer told me wait ten days my visa approved but I want to.know.when how many.time later status changed in.issued my.current status is.ADMIN PROCESS MY.VISA.TYPE CR1

    Congratz!!!

Had my interview on 26th May and the consular also said its approved and you will get your passport in ten days...but my CEAC status still says 'ready for interview'... however the date last updated has changed a few times, the last date being of todays....

  10. Oh my, that's terrible!! You should've emailed them earlier man. Kind of same thing happened with me. Islamabad embassy delayed my packet 3.5 with like 1.5 month so my fiancé and I sent then emails and then they sent the packet. I'm sorry that it took so long, it shouldn't have. It normally doesn't take so long. That's what I learnt on this forum and so I sent the email after waiting for 3 weeks. All the best. Hope they respond back to your email and send you packet 3.5 soon.

And you were supposed to receive that packet on the last date updated by ceac web!

    Hi,

So i got a reply from the embassy saying that they emailed the packet 3.5 on my fiancé's email ID back in December and that I need to submit to to their office the documents mentioned in the package to get assigned an interview date. Since she created this ID specifically for this immigration thing so guess she didn't check it after creating it. From what ive read about the process, I was supposed to have the package mailed to my address or is it also routine for them to email the same???

Anyway, ill keep you guys posted and thanks for all the help so far :)

  11. Hello VJ Members,

First of all, congratz to Siddo for successfully getting the K1 visa!!!!!! I joined this forum today and found the information posted by members extremely helpful. Also realized that progress of my own specific fiancée visa status has been exceedingly sluggish.

My fiancée in the US (Baltimore MD) filed the petition for alien fiancé (form I-129F) on October 19, 2015. She got the approval form and letter dated December 04, 2015 that the NVC will forward the approved petition to US Embassy in Islamabad and the Embassy will contact me. My CEAC status says "READY", being created on December 01, 2015 and last updated on December 14, 2015. However, I have not received any package from the Embassy as of yet containing the respective forms and instructions. I have today emailed the Embassy that the status has been pending for long and requested to expedite the process.

Can you guys suggest any recommendations to move the process forward and a bit faster??? Also, may I have the medical examination and vaccinations or wait until I receive the package from the Embassy???
