  1. Hey everyone! I'm freaking out! I got my combo card last Thursday but today I got an email update from USCIS that our AOS interview is scheduled for April 19th... but we will be out of the country on a cruise during this time with my husband's parents. After reading horror stories I'm so scared of rescheduling but we paid a ton of money for this trip

When I get the hard copy in the mail I guess I'll action it to reschedule and let you guys know how it goes!

  2. Hi guys, just wondering if this has happened to anyone else. This past Thursday I received an approval letter in the mail for I-131 (AP) and the notice date says 02/13/2017 and that my card will be mailed out to me in another letter. I didn't receive a letter for the I-765 (EAD). My status has not changed on the USCIS and they still just say case received. Checked the mail today and have not received the card... I feel like I wanna be checking the mailbox 5 times a day! Haha.

Hey I was wondering how long it takes after the biometrics appointment to get the EAD and notifications for the AOS
Mine was on December 14th and still nothing moved, I don't know if it's a normal time for process or not! I'm in Portland Oregon!

Mine's Portland, OR too and I did biometrics on December 21. My status for I-485 changed to "case ready to be scheduled for interview" a week ago... the EAD/AP stayed the same ?

  4. Just the k1 portion in fees

    340 filing fee

    265 embassy fee

    300 medical exam

150 miscellaneous cost, postage, requirements gathering etc

    So 1055 used

Then there is aos and things I have not gotten to

My medical exam in Brisbane was $485 AUD. I think it's around the same in Sydney. Also, front-loading isn't necessary. You don't need to submit any proof of ongoing relationship at the interview.

  5. CEAC website updates were right for me except for the couple of ours difference it took to change from Administrative Processing to Issued. This is the CEAC timeline for me:

Once I got the case number from NVC it changed to 'In Transit'

3 business days later I got an email from the embassy with the interview details, I checked CEAC and later it said 'Ready'

Stayed as ready until the day after my interview when it changed to Administrative Processing

Then 2 days after that I got the shipping email from Toll Priority, and it took about 4 hours to update CEAC then.

For me it was definitely a great guide.

  6. Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anyone can let me know their experience on how long it took for your passport to be delivered with the visa inside after the interview?

Just trying to get an idea of timeframe to close up all my loose ends and check our flight options.

    Many thanks!!

Edit: should have probably mentioned this is for Sydney, not Auckland ?

  7. Hi guys, I just got a weird update through the app. Our NOA2 date is June 27, but I literally just got an update from the app saying "Post Decision Activity". Then it says "For approved petitions, post-decision activity may include USCIS sending notification of the approved application/petition to the National Visa Center or the Department of State". So this reiterates the '3-week-til-NVC-number' - I think I will start calling on Thursday!

  8. 10 of the past 12 months in the US on the VWP? That is not doing it the right way. I think you got extremely lucky with your "bad experience" since what you are doing is by most standards considered abuse of the VWP. There have been people doing less than this that have had their VWP eligibility taken from them.

Well of course I understand I could get denied from re-entry at anytime and it was always a risk we were willing to take. My main reason for posting was to try and relieve some stress from people who are only visiting for a week or two at a time and minimal times.

I feel horrible for people that have been denied entry, but in reality it is not a common occurrence.

  9. My last entry was at the end of May, but I never got around to writing this, I'm sorry! I had a pretty scary (for me at least) experience this last time at LAX so I just wanted to share my experience with you all, because I have been consulting this website for months now! I will start with a timeline.

October 2013: Month long unrelated holiday to the US with my friend.

August 2014: Went to Europe for one month to visit family, ended up meeting my now fiance on a cruise!

November 2014: He visited Australia for one week!

February 2015: We visited South East Asia for a rendezvous holiday!

April 2015: I came to the US for 3 weeks to see how we liked "living" together and to meet more of his family! No issues at POE.

June 2015: After decided we wanted to make this work forever, I quit my job and packed two suitcases and came (with my cat!). No issues at POE.

July 2015: We went to Mexico for a week! No issues at POE and got restamped for another 90 days.

September 2015: Went back to Australia to visit family for one week and "reset the clock. No issues at POE but was asked how I could afford to travel with no job, told him I had saved up and was a full-time student.

November 2015: We went to Hong Kong and Macau for 2 weeks. No issues at POE.

February 2016: We both went to Australia to visit my family and friends for one week. Asked a few more questions then usual, replied that I'm loving travelling and spending time with my boyfriend and have plenty of money, no issues after that.

    April 2016: We filed I-129F!!!

May 2016: I flew back to Australia to see my family for two weeks. This is when the "experience" happened.

I am a habitual worrier - I worry about everything. So after reading some horror stories I made sure I had all information I could find in case something happened at the POE. However, I had moved all my stuff back to my parents after coming here in June 2015, so I had no "lease information". I had no job and was a full-time online student. I do still have my car back in Australia so I had that information and I had a copy of the NOA1. I have a fair amount of money in the bank so I had a statement from the bank.

I got taken through to the line for "permanent residents" because the visitor line was huge, so the officer I saw didn't have a computer. He took my passport and asked why I was here, and I told him to see my boyfriend and then corrected myself to "fiance". He asked how long I was staying for and I said 2 months because in July we are going to Costa Rica and then he asked when the last time I was here and I said two weeks ago. He then looked through my passport for 10 minutes without saying anything while I just stood there scared. He then looks at me and says I'm abusing the system because I have a K-1 processing so I'm not a non-immigrant at all and that the next time I come through I won't be allowed in the country. He told me he was letting me in this time because I was "pretty". The officer next to him was laughing and said "good luck" with a smirk on his face. Then he stamped my passport and wrote something on the paper the passport scanner prints out that you give to the officer you see after you collect your bags.

Once I collected my bag, I waited to see the next officer who asked me how long I was staying and when was the last time I was here (never had that happen at the second officer right before you leave) and when I replied he told me I had to go to secondary processing. This is when I got SCARED!

I went through and saw the officer who asked me to open my suitcase and explain to him the situation. He asked what my fiance did and why I didn't have a ring (we are getting it custom made and had to go to Texas just a week ago to do all of that). He was so nice and explained to me that because I had the K-1 processing I had nothing to worry about and they don't want us to be away from our significant others, especially when we're doing it the right way. I asked him about what would happen at future entries because of what the first officer said and he said "you should have told that guy to mind his own business - he doesn't know what he's talking about!!". Then he told me that I might have to go to secondary processing again but he would continue to let me in as long as I wasn't doing anything wrong and the officer next to him said the same thing. He then said I was free to leave and to have fun and he was sorry I had a bad experience prior to seeing him!!

I was so relieved! But it just goes to show that we really don't have anything to worry about if we are doing it the right way! My advice is don't be scared if you get sent to secondary, just tell the truth and you will be fine! I have no job, no home of my own back in Australia and have been in the US for a total of 10 months in the last 12 and I was let in so please don't worry!
