I had a quick question about the I-134 affidavit of support. The guide says that at a minimum paystubs should be submitted. The thing is that my pay is direct deposited into my checking account so I don't get any paystubs. However I do have the ability to access the paystubs online through my employer's HR website and print them out but they will not be originals of course!!! Is the official employer letter stating salary, position etc. enough for the INS?

I just think this law is complete baloney! Yahoo Personals and Match.com also charge money to facilitate contact between 2 people, why are they not required to check people's background? I don't get it!

Since the law went into effect March 6th, are couples who met before this date also subject to the provisions of IMBRA? We met through a website that caters to Indian singles worldwide and does charge a fee but they just facilitate contact exactly like match.com...it's just a personals website. Am I still subject to IMBRA?

Thanks for the clarification. I'm not quite sure what "marriage broker" means. Is it the mail order bride websites? Yes, in my case it was just a regular personals website that facilitated the initial contact after which that website was not invovled further of course.

On the 129F q18 states "describe the circumstances under which you met". Is it always recommended to attach a separate sheet to explain this? How brief or lengthy should the explanation be?
I met my fiancee through a personals site back in August '05, will I be subject to the new IMBRA stuff that I'm reading about?
Thanks much

After I petition my fiancee for the K1 can she come on a tourist visa to visit me while the process is going on? Is that legal?
-
I thought only the USC's income mattered, not the fiancee's. How much money do *you* make?
-
I feel for you because I am in the same situation. It crossed my mind too and I asked this very question but I've decided to go the K1 route because i don't want any complications.
Why a K1 visa cannot be issued like a regular tourist visa at the consulate and the fiance(e) allowed to join his/her partner in the US right away while the rest of the process is going on I do not know. It seems really silly to keep 2 people apart who intend to be together anyway, I don't understand it and it frustrates me too but that is just the immigration law for you

I noticed in some people's timeline that they filed I-130 as well as a I-129F. How does that work? If you file a I-129F why do you need a I-130?

Thanks guys.
One question... if she can come on a B-2 tourist visa and I can file for I130/I485 adjustment of status after a few months why is that not preferable?

Hi Guys, I just returned to the US after getting engaged to my girl in UAE. I want to bring her on a K-1, after seeing the application process I must say that I am not only dissappointed that it will take 6 months...ouch! but it also seems really complicated I'm really glad that I found this community though, especially the K-1 guide is immensely helpful.
So yes, I have a few simple questions... do the photographs that we took together need to have a date stamp on it? I took them with my digital camera and it doesn't have the date. I have my boarding passes, hotel reservations, visa stamps etc. to show for evidence...do I need to notarize copies of these?
One more question, my fiancee does have a H1 visa that she can come here on, is that preferable to K1? I was thinking it could just complicate things because they may claim that she entered on the wrong visa with the intention to marry? She has been out of the US for the past 6 months but was previously here for the past 4 yrs.
Thanks again
Intent to marry...

I don't think intent to marry is even reasonable. Many people may want a small civil ceremony with just a few people...how is one to provide proof of that? Should we show that we made reservations at the court house?
