Is there a place to check on the status of the AOS like we did for the K-1?
Last time I called the USCIS and got our case number over the phone to check status online before we got the NOA1. Can I do someting simular to check the status for AOS, or do I already have the number to use?
Hi Andy,
below link is for checking case status online (same as you have had)
https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/jsps/login.jsp
there is the option that you can add your case or you can create new user name. Last time, K1, my husband created his name and I used his user name to check it. For AOS, I have created my username as I am the a petitioner for myself. (just my personal idea) I think you should use your wife user name.
you can add your case on portfolio when you get the Receipt (NOA) from the USCIS and after that you have to wait for 2-3 days until the USCIS updates your case on the system.
I have got the email from CHRIS that my case was approved on Oct 18, it takes me almost 10 months before my case approved.
Good luck for both of you.

Thank you very much. Wow! you got Green Card Very Quick. Congratulationsssss.
Just lucky with the process, nothing complicated.
I wish I would be lucky like yours. by the way, you deserved that, cause you have been very helpful.
Wow - this thread is great! Thanks for posting this inquiry....If my hubby doesn't get his GC soon then he'll apply for the AP as well. It's nice to know you can do it on-line...I didn't know.
No problem we both needed help.

1. YES you pay a fee ($305).
From form I-131 directions page 7:
http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...00045f3d6a1RCRDNOTE: If you filed a Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, as of July 30, 2007,no fee is required to also file a request for advance parole on Form I-131. You may file the I-131 concurrently with your I-485, or you may submit the I-131 at a later date. If you file Form I-131 separately, you must also submit a copy of your Form I-797C, Notice of Action, receipt as evidence of the filing of an I-485 as of July 30, 2007.2. YES you can e-file here: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...000d1f1d6a1RCRD

Hello,
I sent my AOS application on December 29, 2006 and my case is still pending. I have read some on this site, but I am still confused about the Fees and Can I file online?
1. Do I have to pay the fee, because my AOS sent before July 30
2. where I can file I131 online?
any advise would be very appreciated.
Thanks

My fiance inteview is coming up and she just got back from picking up her police report. She called me up after she got home after a 10 hours bus ride and said they made a mistake on her mom's D.O.B. with just a few days left till her interview there's no time to get it fix. The place closed down on the weekend and she'll have to travel to Thailand a couple days ahead cuz she'll have to pick up the correct vaccination record from the hospital. OMG we're freaking out right now. I just hope that it's not a big issue. Someone please tell me it's gonna be alright.
If they do have a problem, she could possibly suggest having the correction done back home, picked up by a relative and faxed to Bangkok.
If you are really, really worried about it, then maybe look into flights from Phnom Penh to Bangkok for the 26th or early morning 27th and that gives her one or two days to fix it in Cambodia, and the rest of the 27th to pick up the vaccination record. I don't know where she is in Cambodia, but I think One-Two-Go also has flights from Siam Reap. That may be closer to her.
It probably can be fixed but it may be a cost vs. risk issue? How important is the error really? It's a tough call. I understand your concern.
If there is no time to fix it, you pretty much have to just go with it. It doesn't seem like a major error. They may not even spot it. I imagine they will be looking at the result of the screening as opposed to those details, but keep your fingers crossed.
She called the place up and they said to bring it back to get it fix, but my fiance told them about her upcoming interview date and they said that it wasn't enought time to fix due to the amount of applicants they have and to just go with it and hope for the best.
I have seen friend who went to interview without Police certificate, she was asked by consular officer very easy question like ultimoxo, but she couldn't get visa on the next business day. She also informed the reason why she couldn't get Police certificate and brought that document to the embassy later when she got it, then she got Visa after she submitted.
in my opinion, your fiancee should go to the embassy as appointed date, then bring the Police certificate later.
Hope that helps you little bit.

It's probably gonna be super hot when in mid January I hate the hotness.
Shouldn't be too bad in mid-January. It is still the cold season. As far as hotness, your timing doesn't get much better for Bangkok weather. Relatively cool and no rain.
Anyone have any scoop on the translation of the Birth Certificate for the interview? If they have the K1 submission, then they should have the original translations, but has anyone had any issues with this at the the interview?
I have just passed the interview on Dec 20, due to the Birth Certificate, House registration and ID card I translated them into English by myself as well as made a copy of all. the consular officer will return all original and take copy.
any question, don't hesitate to ask and good luck

Interview at Bangkok, Thailand
I went alone for the interview. the consular officer and I discussed about the past convictions of Robert. The problem is that he has 2 convictions that is what I was informed by the Consular officer, so our case might be pending……when I heard the word of Pending I started to explain everything between I and Robert. I talked alots I couldn’t remember, but all is about I strongly insisted that I have known everything about him and I will accept him anyway.
Finally I got visa. Before we sent RFE to USCIS, Robert sent me his past convictions then I sent them to translate into Thai, after that I sent the translated convictions along with my Letter to confirm that I will still marry Robert, 60 days later our case was approved (Sept 7’ 06)
Thanks to everyone for your help I and Robert appreciate very much.
Best of luck to all and don’t forget to fight for our love

Hey thank you Sam for your input. My fiancée is done with the medical exam and got 3 vaccination done. She's not sure what they were tho. Sadly things didn't go as planned. She didn't get a chance to have those med forms copied before the nurse sealed the envelops. She was saying that all the envelops was sealed and on one envelop they have something written on the outside of it in English. I wonder what it is.
it is called " Vaccination Documentation Worksheet" or DS3025. keep with her because we will have to use for adjustment of status

Hello recently received NOA2 for our K1 visa. I'm a little confused about the next steps.
From my understanding right now we simply wait for her to get the Packet 3. I am going to send her Affadavit of Support. Other than that we are only waiting. Once she gets the packet 3 we are just planning on following the instructions. Can we get a jump on the police report or medical clearance? She is from Chiang Rai. Does she have to go to Bangkok in person to complete these steps.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Chris
your understanding is right. if you want to go ask for police certificate, remember it expires in 3 months and it takes about 7 business days in order to get it from the Royal thai police. she has to come by herself, because the police officer will ask her to do fingerprint and take her picture.
you can prepare everything in advance like packet 3 that you can dowload from U.S. embassy in Thailand. see link at sawasdee you will find lots of info

Is anyone else having problems with the new online DS-156?
Hey, is there an advantage to filling out the online DS-156 as opposed to filling in the barcoded one in packet 3 and taking it to the interview? I don't quite understand the difference.
Anyone buy this PIN and visa appointment service subscription?
Also, quickly, can anyone tell me how to get my timeline as my signature?? Sorry, I been looking all over for it and can't find it!
go to control panel then choose "edit signature"

we are so happy to hear your good news and Congratulations for both of you.
As I am going to the interview on Dec 20, so I want to know how did the embassy find the solution of your case? I want to prepare in case Thai embassy wants to check at Washington like yours
Thanks in advance

Hey you always been helpful, thanx a lot. Already made an appointment with dr. Watcharapong sae-chere, first Doc. on the list. Spoked to a nice thai assistance in Thai for a little bit. "sawadee kap...puut pisah English, dai...mai? She was very helpful and seems like she know exactly what she was talking about. I didn't quite understand what she was refering to about the hospital number??? But at the end I finally know what she was talking about and she told me to use that number everytime my fiancee go there.
I told Robert that I helped to reply Posts, he said " I am impressed Tee Rak"
Dr. Watcharapong is very friendly and popular among Thai fiancees in thaivisaforum, your fiancee won't be disappointed

For the medical exam. do I have to make an appointment to see the doctor or can we just do a walk-in?
In my opinion, you should make an appointment and choose time that you are convenient as well as the Doctor that you prefer ( I recommend Dr. Watcharapong SaeSue).... in my case I made my appointment online at..
http://www.bumrungrad.com/htm/eng/main.asp...ake/appoint.asp
you can call them to confirm again....
You can also do a walk-in.
the processes probably take about 3-4 hours ( I started the first process at 7 a.m. and finished around 10 a.m.)

Hello everyone
I have some questions,My case have been forward from NVC on 17th Nov , till now never received hard copy of NVC case number beside email from them to show BNKXXXXX case number
as i know after received package3 my fiance have to send back some paper to get interveiw date ,What should i do if never received Nvc case number letter, she still can get interveiw date ???
Thank you so much
She can get the interview date, because the embassy doesn't want NVC letter (I have sent NVC as the additional document in order to show that my case was approved). however I think you should send the copy of emil from NVC as your case has been assigned already.
see the link for documents that you will have to send together along with Packet 3
http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...=78&st=1410
1. Checklist
2. DS230 part I
3. Photo (2)
4. copy passport
5. NVC letter (addition)
Good luck

Andy,
we hope to hear good news from you soon. I am going to have the interview on December 20, even if I have known Robert's conviction, but it makes me worried a little bit.
Good luck to both of you

I read something about paying the visa fee at the post office. We just returned the packet 3 forms via EMS on Tuesday - was I supposed to pay a fee at the post office or does she pay the fee at the interview?
Bill
PS, anyone recenlty get an interview date? What is the date and when did the US Embassy get your packet 3 documents?
Bill,
you can see from my timeline.
for the Visa fee, she has to pay at the post office before the interview date, this Receipt will be included in all documents we will have to submit on the interview date

someone mentioned before that it's good to sent in the NVC letter and a copy of NOA2 approval letter along with the above mentioned.
Haha, funny timing you should mention that. I just found out today that I don't have the NOA2 letter. So I am hoping that it is not requested as extra information. It is not on the checklist, so theres not much else I can do but hope they don't need to see it.
After I print out the completed electronic version of DS-156 online I notice an error on my fiancee work address.I would say change it if you have the time. It would all come down to how difficult it is to change it. Sounds like its pretty much a judgement call. Also, sounds like a minor mistake but why put yourself at their mercy if it's not too difficult of a fix.
Also, Matt, why did you sign the DS-230? In the Packet 3 checklist, it says "Please do not sign this form." You had an expedited case, so I don't want to do anything out of the ordinary if that was specific to your expedition.
The hard part isn't about making that change, it's the possibility side of the whole thing. Since it is in their system already and the bar code was already assigned. I was thinking about filling out the downloaded version instead and use that one. Then have it correct at the embassy if they have to.
EVOLUTION,
if you are talking about DS-156. I have heard from friends who went to the interview after Novermber 2. everyone must have barcoded DS-156. many people didn't know the new rule and brought the old forms and then the officer allowed them to use computers at consulate to make their new one again.
I also have made an error on travelling date that is we can do manually, so I decided to make new one instead off. As I haven't seen the case study of mistaken in filling bar coded DS-156 electricially , so I will bring both the mistaken and correct form on the interview date.

Bloodofheroes,
If I understand this correctly, it was your sister that called the police. Unless you have no possible relations with your sister it is likely to come up at some future family gathering. So, you are right about biting the bullet now. If you are honest with her and she truly loves you, she will understand. Tell her about it and see what happens. I think you are going to be pleasantly surprised.
I think consulting an attorney would be a good idea, but maybe you should wait to see what happens first.
Yes, consulting an attorney might be a good idea, but you don't need to ask them to do for you all, some parts you can do by yourself. we paid for immigration attorney for about 200 USD only for IMBRA law as there were some points that we couldn't translate clearly.
you can PM me for more information.
you should disclose even it is sealed.
Good luck

Anyone have a saved pdf copy of form DS2053 that they can email to me? This is one of the forms for the medical. The link on the K3 section of the Embassy page is broken! If so, my email is ultimoxo@yahoo.com
It makes me wonder if they are updating this form.
try this link http://www.ait.org.tw/en/visa/iv/docs/DS2053.pdf
