Obviously, leaving behind his wife and daughter helped tremendously, but I was very surprised at how easily he was approved. He received a multi-entry visa good for one year.

I knew my diet was in for big changes when about 3 days after Anna arrived, I came home from work, looked in the fridge and cabinets for food, and all my snacks and junk food were gone. She did the same thing with a lot of my clothes about a week later, but that's a different topic.

Nine months later, I'm lucky if I'm able to get a hamburger once a month (or pizza too). Seems like all our home dinners consist of either salad, borscht or chicken. Luckily, I don't work too close to home so I can still occasionally sneak in a burger or slice of pizza for lunch.

You just call the credit card company and ask for a second card on your account for your spouse (or fiance or whatever, they usually don't care). All they ask for is their name (I gave my wife one while she was still living overseas and before we were married). In a week or so, your spouse will get a card in their name. Both names won't be on the bill, but all you really need is to make a copy of both cards for the interview.

Besides, the credit card companies love doing it because they think the two of you will spend twice as much on the card.

For whatever it's worth, I was able to add my wife to my bank accounts (Bank of America), credit card accounts (incl. AMEX) and health insurance without any problems. Only thing she needed was her SSN.

Looks like all of us January filers are getting approvals and/or interview appts around the same time (despite our various locations). We received our AP approval last Thursday and EAD approval yesterday. Next up for us is interview in 2 weeks.

I've only been in the AOS queue for a couple months, but this is the first time I've seen a case where someone was transfered to CSC and then transfered back to their local office.

Does anyone know if the European Union countries are ever going to move towards a common visa? It's a bear to apply for 5 or 6 visas if you want to visit multiple countries and require a visa for each.

They already do..........it's called the Schengen Visa (started in the mid 1980s). The 15 Schengen countries are: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Greece, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain and Sweden. All these countries except Norway and Iceland are European Union members.

Does the last name on the passport really need to be changed? Can one travel outside the country with the two names being different (maiden name, and married name) on gc and passport? I am confused.

The way I understand it is either you need to have your name changed in your passport or you need to travel with documentation (i.e. your original marriage certificate) which will connect the dots for the immigration officer.

Jello, your lady's interview sounds exactly like my wife's. Probably had the same interviewer.

Comments from Fiancee's interview on 10/24/06.

Three officers conducted interviews (one man and two women).

Anna said that the gentleman who conducted interviews was very friendly and polite to all. Always smiling and would come out from behind the interview window every now and then to stop and say hello to the fiancées as they waited and would offer them encouragement.

Anna was interviewed by one of the women whom Anna described as very serious and business like, but still very polite.

Anna’s interview lasted less than 10 minutes and was conducted in English. She was asked only one question: Tell me some general things about your fiancé. Anna said she spoke for approximately 5 minutes about where I was born, my family, where I live and work, qualities she loves most about me, etc. The woman then told her congratulations.

Anna said the only thing they took as evidence of our relationship was one picture and never looked at or asked for anything else.

Anna also said that they took the visa fee before her interview and she also had the impression (as others have stated) that she was already approved before being called to the window for her interview.

Another Interview Passed!

was wondering when did you find out the interview date... after NVC shipped the stuff...

between NVC shipping and moscow giving u interview date info...

it just doesn't make sense..dhl package arrived in moscow on thur and they r saying , they got nothing...

Our interview was scheduled two weeks after NVC sent it.

For us, the best source for learning the interview date was by emailing the Embassy (consulMo@state.gov). They take about a week to respond, but they will respond.

I don't know if ours was just unique, but my fiance received her invitation letter today and the case number had changed.

We were initially approved back at the end of April and I received the letter from the NVC forwarding our case to the Embassy, but then our petition was recalled due to IMBRA. We were re-approved August 4 and NVC again forwarded it back to the Embassy on August 10. I never received a 2nd letter from the NVC.

For the last several weeks I tried calling the Embassy (waste of time), State Department and emailing the Embassy, but the only way I could get any information was via email. Last week I received an email that our interview was scheduled for October 24. All my communications during this time were with the case number I had received back in May.

Today my fiance received the invitation letter and the case number was different.

John and Anna, does it mean NVC never told you anything positive by the phone? And Embassy didn't tell your date of interview in almost a month after leaving NVC? Please clarify this matter. We're still waiting to know our date too after 4 months of stucking in CSC! THANKS!

For us, the only thing we ever heard from NVC is the date that they sent the petition to Moscow.

I called the Embassy a couple times, but that was a waste of time (as confirmed by others on here).

Based on what others on VJ have told me, the best way to get information is either calling the State Department (202-663-1225) or emailing the Embassy (consulMo@state.gov).

Question for those with interviews scheduled or those that have been through the process.

I emailed the Embassy last week requesting a status update and received a reply two days ago that our interview was scheduled for October 24 which is less than 7 weeks away..........Great!

I called the State Department and Embassy this morning to ask when the invitation letter and package would be sent. The State Department told me that my petition is still with the NVC. I informed them that I received an email from the Embassy saying that the interview has been scheduled. State Department told me to call Moscow.

The Embassy Customer Service told me that my petition still had not been received in Moscow. I told them that I received an email from them saying that the interview has been scheduled. They told me that the Consular Section schedules the interviews and to just wait a week and call them back.

I also replied to the email which listed the interview date and asked about the package and still have not received a response.

How soon before the interview is it typical to receive the package?

After being approved, recalled, waiting for 3 mths for a piece of paper, then re-approved and now waiting for another month, my nerves are getting a little shot. I'm probably just being paranoid, but...........It's the Government!
