  1. on April 7th 2021, my interview for N-400 got scheduled for May 13th. i got the mail  for the interview date last week and realized my i sent my original Bangladesh passport for renew and it will take another month for the Bangladesh embassy to renew and send it back to me.

So unfortunately i don't have my original passport(sent the original for renew) and i don't have any photocopy of my old passport. I do have the tracking details and tracking from website that my passport renew in progress.

If anyone had similar situation please let me know what should i do in this situation as in the interview later it mentioned to take passport as one of the documentation.

    thanks in advance.

I can only give my best guess. Firstly, i think that you should not have any problems traveling on the extension letter if need be. You could always get an appointment and a stamp in your passport, which is what I did. Traveled twice with it and had no issues at all. I also feel that there is a good chance of a decision being made quickly and before you travel end of December. If the card arrives in time is another question, but my approval letter arrived within 3 days of approval. Super quick. I just got it yesterday and may have to travel with it in December as well if the card does not arrive by then.

Good luck!! I hope you here from them soon.

Thank you...luckily it got approved next day. So hoping to get the New GC card soon.

If you don't mind can you please share your experience, questions.

    Sure.

Our Interview was at 8.15am. We reached there by 8.10am. We didn't had to wait for long, Immigration officer came out and asked me to come in for the interview and let me wife know, she will take her interview separately.

She(Immigration officer) started my interview asking for my Driver License, passport and expired green card.

She started the interview asking question from i751 form. Here are the list of questions she asked:

My full name, current address, date of birth, phone number, my wife's name, her phone number, date of our marriage, as i moved to 3 different address in last 4 year because of my job she asked all those address, asked if my wife lived with me on those address, asked if we have any attorney(which we don't) and few other questions from the form.

After that she asked if i brought any other documentation to support my case, so i provided updated health insurance, 401k, lease, health insurance, car insurance documents to her.

she asked why we don't have a join account together. My answer was: we had bank account before we knew each other and we preferred to use the same account, so we never felt the importance to have a joint account.

Than she took a piece of paper to ask more questions, which she also asked my wife and validated our answers. some of those questions are:

Where do i work, How much money i make yearly, where do she work, How much she make yearly, if we had any vacation this year and details about those, if we have any future vacation plan(we already have a plan to visit my home country in December). so she asked if i have a ticket yet, as i didn't had a copy of my ticket with me,s he asked if i have a copy on my phone. So i showed both our ticket copy from my phone to her. she also asked details about our plan when we will visit my home country. Also asked what we do for fun together or what we do on weekend. We dont have any kids yet, so she also asked why and when we are planning to have one. As we have a Dog she asked where we take our Dog for walk.

My interview finished with she asking if i have any questions for her.

Than she called my wife for interview, She asked almost all the above questions to her. She also looked at my bank statement and seen that i transferred money to her. so she asked why i transferred those money. My wife replied as she didn't worked for few months, i paid for her school and credit cards. She also asked my wife, what color socks i am wearing today.

After the interview she give me a piece of paper and told me she will review our case and let us know the result. As we both know so much about each other we were never worried about the questions but we were little worried about not having joint account and so many questions she asked.

Hope all this information helps you. Our case got approved with in 24 hrs and case status got update "New card is being produced".

  4. Hi everyone, Need your help.

So i applied for my GC renew on May 2018. Yesterday was my interview with USCIS, not sure how long it will take to get a decision. But me and my wife have a travel planned On December 27th to Jan 16 out of the country.

My current extension letter expires in February 2020.

Can someone provide me some information like:

is it safe to travel after GC renew Interview while waiting for response?

Is it safe to travel when i will have only few weeks left for the extension letter?

what  things i need to do before travelling?

    Thanks in advance.

  5. So after 26 days of RFE received status, got a new update, “case was transferred to schedule an Interview “ on the app but on the website it shows “On September 12, 2019, we transferred your Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence, Receipt Number WAC1*, to another USCIS office. That office now has jurisdiction over your case. Anyone else have same situation?

    Hi All,

Could someone help me with a CHANGE OF ADDRESS question.

I'm i-751 May 2018 filer and i moved from PA to NC last week. The address change instructions in USCIS website says its a 2-step process as I have a petition pending

    1) Submit AR11 online (Filled AR11 under Pending Petitions criteria and specified the Receipt# )

    2) Call 1800 -  number where they would update the address for the existing petition.

I updated AR11 online and When i called the 1800 they mentioned that just Step1# is enough and it would take around 30days for the new address to be updated in my pending Petitions.

This confuses me. Is anyone else in the same situation.

    Thank you.

I updated my address using AR11 online and it got updated around 30 days. You don't need to do anything else.

That's not tooo bad! What center did you send it to?

I had originally sent mine 5/2, VSC returned it on 5/31.

Resent mine 6/1, delivered 6/4, GC expires 6/30, so I'm cutting it a little close. But I just went to the social security office to remove the restrictions from my SS card to avoid any issues with my current employment since my HR lady keeps asking about my I-9. That was my main worry.

sleeoooo : ""social security office to remove the restrictions from my SS card to avoid any issues with my current employment"" -------so did they removed the restrictions? i might have the same issue.

  8. So here is the details of my GC interview.Hopefully it will help someone who have interview soon.

Our interview was on August 1st(2016) at 1pm. We(me & my wife) reached there at 12.53pm. showed our interview notice and got a serial number.

The guy who took our interview was old guy, he came and explained that he is going to take my wife first(as she is the petitioner) and after that he will take me inside for the interview. And he also explained that he is going to ask her question from << form i-130 >> and going to ask me question from << form i-485 >>.

When she was inside (as my wife said).. they guy was very nice, he asked almost all the questions from i-130. After that he took paper and started asking question like << when did you first meet , where you 2 meet second time, Who proposed, how he proposed, where you 2 got married, how many people attended the weeding, what he do now, what he used to do when you meet him, what was the address when you meet him the first time, what car did you drove today, what you did on weeding day, who was with you when you got married and some other basic question >> he wrote down all the answers she said on a paper. We took all the joint documents with us, but he didn't asked for any papers to my wife. Just wanted to see the photo album she had in her bag. he opened the album and showed a picture to my wife and asked who it is. her interview was around 15 min.

she came out and he took me inside on his room for the interview. he started my interview asking questions from i-485. Almost asked all the question from that form. As i filled up my form and its my information so i answered everything perfectly. after that he took the paper where he asked weeding related question to my wife, he asked all those question to me and checked if the answers match. after all the question i answered, he give a paper where it said "can't give the decision now need time for review" and the other option was approve. I was so nervous to see that he selected the review option. but as soon he give me the paper he told me, don't worry i selected the review option because i just got your file 30 mins ago and didn't get a chance to look at the file properly. But your case in approved. i will approve it end of the day. UFFFF what a relief....than he explained i will get my Green card in mail with in 2-3weeks and explained as well what i need to do after 2 year and how can i apply for citizenship later. at the end he told me congratulation.

when i came out i see my wife was so happy, i asked her do you know i got approved? she said yes.i was like how? she told when he took her interview he said your like his real wife and your marriage looks real. I will approve your case but you can't tell your husband before the interview is over.

My case status update 4pm same day as case approved. 5pm got another update "card is in production". yayyyy and yesterday 8/4 got another update " card was mailed to me". everything happened so fast. Thanks everyone here for the support. And good luck whoever waiting for the interview.
