  1. Hi Everyone,

My husband and I submitted his AoS paperwork at the beginning of August. We then received a Request for Initial Evidence on 9/9.

    It states that:

    1. The petitioner/sponsor lists their current income on form I-864 as an amount to be considered sufficient, however no evidence has been submitted as proof of current income.

I just graduated college in May and finished student teaching. I was offered a teaching position in May, but didn't begin classes until August. So from January to my first paycheck Sept. 2nd I had no pay. I did submit a letter from my employer stating all the information that was required. Could this have been because I didn't submit paystubs, but just the letter?

    2. Submit all supporting tax documentation submitted to the IRS for most recent tax year.

I have been reading about submitting tax transcripts with this instead of copies of my W2 and tax return. Is this a good idea? Also, which transcripts do I submit since there return, record of account, account, and wage and income transcripts?

    3. Based on the documentation submitted with Form I-864, affidavit of support, for the petitioner/sponsor, the income did not meet 125% of the poverty guideline for the petitioner/sponsor's household size.

My income is above the poverty guideline for a household of 2 people. Was this possibly put on their because I didn't submit paystubs as proof of income? I'm worried about this because I don't know if we'll be able to get a joint sponsor. I didn't think we needed one because my income was enough.

We have a meeting scheduled with InfoPass this Wednesday mainly to see why we require a joint sponsor when my yearly salary is enough. Just seeing if this has happened with anyone else and to get some advice. Thanks!

  2. Hi!

My fiance had his interview May 22nd at the US Embassy in Baghdad. The counselor told him everything looked good on his end, didn't give him a definitive yes or no answer, kept his passport, and said they will be emailing him in two days, or if he doesn't get his passport in two weeks, to contact them. He had every document required. Is it common for them not to give a yes or no at the interview? Also, his status still says "ready", with the last update May 27th. I'm just wondering if this is common? Thanks!

  3. The instructions for the I-134 state As the sponsor, you must show you have sufficient income or financial resources to assure that the alien you are

sponsoring will not become a public charge while in the United States.

Evidence should consist of copies of any of the

documents listed below that apply to your situation.

Failure to provide evidence of sufficient income or

financial resources may result in the denial of the alien's

application for a visa or his or her removal from the United States.

Submit in duplicate evidence of income and resources,

    as appropriate:

    A.1. Date account opened;Supporting Evidence

    2. Total amount deposited for the past year; and

    3. Present balance.

    B. Statement(s) from your employer on business stationery showing:

    1. Date and nature of employment;

    2. Salary paid; and

    3. Whether the position is temporary or permanent.

Is adding proof of citizenship and taxes just an added measure of security?

  4. Thank you :). And just submitting a letter from her employer and paystubs is acceptable?

When filling out the form, for relationship to sponsor, what is accepted in that place? It is my aunt who is my co-sponsor. What would she need to put there. Since we are using her income, am I required to submit bank statements and what not, or is just her information proving her income enough?

  5. Thank you so much! What about the I-864? Is I-864 not needed since the K1 is non-immigrant? Also, do we choose only one of the options, either bank statements or employer and salary information? I planned on just sending my fiance my cosponsor's letter of employment and paystubs.

  6. Hi Everyone,

So we have our interview May 22nd in Baghdad. I am going to be using a co-sponsor. I'm just confused about what paperwork we need to fill out. Do I and my family member both need to fill out the I-134 and I-864, even though it will all be their income we are using? I'm student teaching and have no income. Also, do we just pick one of the options? We are using paystubs and a letter from her employer. Do I need to include anything since it is a based on her income? Thanks so much!

  7. Hi Everyone,

Thanks to the help of this site, my fiance and I filed our K-1 Petition the first week of January 2016. It was received January 7th. On March 10th, our application was approved! We are planning on having him interview at the Baghdad Embassy. My fiance is Kurdish, so he will be traveling from there. I was just wondering if anyone is able to share their experience and what they expected you to have? I'll be using a co-sponsor, so if you used your co-sponsors employed statement and pay-stubs, was this acceptable? Thanks a lot!

  8. Hi Everyone,

Thanks to the help of this site, my fiance and I filed our K-1 Petition the first week of January 2016. It was received January 7th. On March 10th, our application was approved! It went way faster than we expected (not that we are complaining). However, our plan was that I would have a job lined up before it was approved, so I could be the sponsor (I graduate college in May, I'm student teaching now so had to quit my job). I am planning on asking my dad to be the co-sponsor. From what I'm reading, the credit score of the person doesn't matter, as long as he makes the required amount of income? Also, am I required to submit his most current tax return or just bank statements and employee confirmation? Also about taxes, he didn't file his taxes last year, but he did this year. He didn't owe any money last year (they would have told him that this year), but he was just lazy. Is that going to impact using him as a sponsor? Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks again to this site for their help!

    Liz
