  1. I'm guessing you have been scheduled towards a date near the 8th since they wanna give you ample time to receive the letter. Maybe you could call and express your concern. I'm sure an officer can pull it up on the system and let you know since it's already been scheduled.

Thanks, kris_hetfield! That's a good idea to give them a call and ask for the date. I'll do that.

  2. Hi everyone, I'm a March filer from New York City and have been tracking my application in the March forum. But I have a question for previous filers that I'm hoping someone can help answer.

I received email notification today that my oath ceremony has been scheduled and the notice mailed out. It says "If you do not receive your notice by July 8, 2016, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request a copy of the notice." Are they citing July 8 because that's exactly one month from the day of the email notification (do they normally give a date one month out for everyone to receive the notice?) or because my oath is likely on or after July 8? I'm curious as to what other oath notifications have said. I was really hoping to have my oath done before the end of June.

    Thanks!

  4. Thanks that super helpful!

Also when did you move, after you got the interview scheduling letter?

I'm curious when you updated your address to USCIS and if the officer saw that as well.

I moved 2 days before the interview, so the interview was the first time I updated my address with USCIS. I was thinking to call them beforehand, but it was Memorial Day weekend and I figured they wouldn't be open until the day of the interview anyway.

  5. Hope you get your letter soon.

What you describe is the situation at most field offices. The norm is for the applicant to be sent an oath letter by mail after the interview.

Some offices (the minority), will give the applicant an oath letter on the same day, shortly after the interview. This can be for a same-day ceremony (like in Newark) or for a later date (like in Houston). The applicant may be asked to wait until a supervisor checks the file.

Thanks JimmyHou. I hope so too.

I asked the officer if I could do the oath the same week (knowing this wasn't likely), and he said I'd have to wait 3-4 weeks. Then I asked if I could do it in another county in New York if that meant I could do it sooner. That didn't work either, haha.. I was exploring all options! He just said to go home and wait.

  6. Congrats Aninyc!

You said you made update to your address, can you elaborate on it? I will be moving just before the interview so curious.

    Thanks!

    Thanks JGD108!

I moved just before the interview as well. As we were going through my application and the immigration officer asked for my address, I let him know that the current address I had written on the application was no longer the case and I had a new address. He crossed out the old address and wrote the new one in pen on the form, and we carried on with the rest of the application. It wasn't an issue at all, and no questions were asked. He also reassured me that the oath letter would go to the new address. Hope this helps!

  7. Congrats, no oath date provided? If not, is it because you're an early filer. I noticed you didn't put ur GC date on the master list.

Thanks kris_hetfield. No oath date was provided. In NY, they don't give it to you on the spot. They send you a letter in the mail after the interview letting you know the oath date. That should arrive in the next week or so hopefully. I'm not an early filer.

  8. Thanks everyone for the good wishes. My interview yesterday went well. The immigration officer was very pleasant and the interview took about 25 minutes. I did the civics/history test first - he asked me six questions and told me to write a sentence. Then we went through the application, and I made a couple of updates - to my address and my international travel since filing. At the end, he told me I passed and that he was recommending me for approval.

  9. hello, congts.

which borough are you in? ( queens , Brooklyn or Manhattan )

i am at corona and i do not know which field office i will be interviewed.

    thanks

Thanks nonanone12. I am in Manhattan and my field office is in Manhattan as well.

It seems the Long Island, Queens and Manhattan field offices all service Corona/Queens County so you may need to wait to find out where you'll be interviewed.
