    Thanks!!

    Congratulations!

Thanks! Yeah, was really looking around if someone is 'familiar'! Haha

    Congratulations!

Haha it's funny you could have ran into each other :)
    Congratulations!

Hey! Our appointment was at 8:00am and we were the first couple to be called out for the interview. ^^ Did you get Mr. Pruitt???

Hey JAPINATL! Our interview was at 11:45a today in ATL too. I wonder if we crossed paths? How funny..... Our interview was very quick and easy also. Our IO was super pleasant and friendly. We just went in and had a conversation and as we talked he checked things off on the application. He told us we were approved and gave us this form that he and Heem signed saying we were approved. We were SUPER nervous going in because even though I spent days preparing the folder to take we got 45 minutes down the road and I realized WE LEFT HIS PASSPORT! Our IO said he understood and it was no big deal because we provided plenty of copies.

I know we haven't posted much since the early stages of our process but THANK YOU to everyone in this group for your updates, advice and input. With all of your help and the rest of the VJ community we had a problem & lawyer free process of only 6 months. I cannot express my gratitude to everyone enough. Thank You! Congratulations to all that have been approved and with GC in hand and good luck to those still waiting. See everyone in two years for ROC.

  2. Finally got my NOA today. It took over a month.

I see some of you got 3 NOAs, I only got one but it looks like it includes I-485 and I-765. The Biometrics appointment is also on the notice, i didn't receive a separate letter.

Do i need to call to find out about the I-130?

Also the biometrics appointment is 2 days before our wedding!!!! This is not convenient at all, but we would rather go than risk being delayed even further. The fact that we have to travel 2 hours to the nearest centre doesn't help either.

Hi! I think what you have is your Biometrics appointment letter; you should also call and ask about your NOAs because you didn't receive them.

If it helps, the receipt numbers are usually MSCxxxxxxxx1 MSCxxxxxxxx2 MSCxxxxxxxx3 (if processed at the NBC).

So maybe you could find out what the receipt number for your I-130 is (my receipt number for the i-130 is between I-485 and I-765).

*EDIT* As I have seen on your timeline that you are adjusting from K-1, you didn't send in the i-130 because you don't need it and you meant i-131.

You only need to do biometrics for I-485 and I-765.

Welcome to Georgia! I suggest you arrive early for your appointment. The wait to get in could take longer than the biometrics itself. ^_^

  3. Good morning guys. A quick update, I just got back from my biometrics appointment in Atlanta ASC.

We had to go early because Atlanta morning traffic is crazy! We arrived about 7am for my 9am appointment.

I was third in line but had to step aside since 8am appointments were priority.

After the 8am people got in the rest of us were lead inside. I was done before 9am.

    Now to more waiting

  4. Hello everyone,

How much time does it usually take to get a biometrics appointment letter?

    My concurrent I-130/I-485 package was

    - received at USCIS Chicago: April 4th

    - Checks cashed & emails received: April 11th midnight

-Hard copy NOA received by mail : April 15th.

I was expecting my biometrics letter sometime this week - but I didn't. I'm a little worried. Should I be worried?

Hi you'll probably get something by this coming week. Don't worry. It takes a while to get the mail, depends on where you're living. :)

  5. Oh man :(

    Oh no!! :(

    So sorry to hear that!

Did they return your entire package? Do they explain what needs to be corrected??

They returned the whole package. I don't really understand why. It says

This is in reference to the I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, you submitted. Your I-485, fees, and any supporting documentation is being returned to you for the following reason(s):

The application/petition has not been fully completed. One or more of the following field(s) were not completed:

    - Application Type

Which I did. Everything was in order. I have selected option (a) for application type.

I reprinted all forms, signed, checked, and went to USPS. Hopefully everything is ok.

  6. Mailed on 3/15, still nothing. Anddddd the uscis customer service rep couldn't seem to wrap her brain around why I was calling and what for, despite me explaining that I wanted to see if she could find our stuff. Said she can't look anyone up, not even using his A number.

Whatever. I'll keep waiting, it's 10 calendar days today.

Haven't heard anything too. USCIS received the application on the 16th. I hope we get an email today. We're going crazy. Best of luck!

  7. Hello, I have been having a hard time finding correct information about the ITIN filling procedure. I have contacted two H&R Block acceptance agents, a private CPA Firm That has acceptance agents, The IRS both over the phone and in person. So far none of them seems to have a clue;it's shocking. The first one asked for my wife's drivers license and National ID (originals only) and also the marriage certificate (which is not mentioned anywhere in the required documents in the IRS website. The second place said they wouldn't do it because my wife should be here for them to accept her passport. I left in less than 5 minutes, because I wouldn't let someone who has no clue file my taxes. Then, after calling the IRS, the person on the phone stated clearly that she doesn't have that information and that should look at the website. I scheduled an appointment with the IRS tax assistance center, the lady there said that I would have to get a certified copy of the passport (which is, like everyone knows, somewhat a hassle to obtain in many countries). she also said that I can amend the return and include a W7 with it, which doesn't make any sense.

After that I called another H&R Block acceptance agent and she seemed to be helpful, until she said that I wouldn't be able to amend my return from MFS to MFJ.

You Guys are my last hope before I give up on filling jointly. The difference in the refund I will get If I file jointly is significant. Also for USCIS, it better to file jointly.

Does anybody have experience with the possibility of amending the return from MFS to MFJ? Can anybody advice me if I should just give up on it and file MFS? It has become very frustrating to call and meet tax professionals who only contradict each other's and leave us confused at the end. I mean, If I called the IRS themselves and they said that they don't have that information, than who else would know. I have faith in this forum, as I believe that peoples' experience is the best teacher and the best source of information. Please help! it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi Joemilli! My husband and I went through the same thing in regards on trying to obtain an ITIN for me.

First from what we were told at the TAC is that we can't apply for an ITIN because

    1. We got married this year, so my husband can only apply for joint filing for next year.
    2. W-7 should be filed together with the the tax returns.
    3. They need to have the passport(original) either at a certified TAC or you can send by mail and they'll send it back to you in a while.

I think an accountant would know if you can file jointly even if your spouse is not here in the US. I hope I helped in a way. Good luck!

  8. Send my package the 10th... im bored out of my mind and starting to feel homesick simply because im not allowed to work and barely know anyone....

Looking at my email all the time hoping for an update but i know theres about 3 more months of boredom before i can get any job... Since I plan to join the Navy, Ill have to wait for the greencard before i can really start my life
