  1. Well the bulletin usually moves anywhere fro 4 to6 weeks each month so yes figure 10 to 12 month wait to be current then you will be assigned an interview.

Nothing can happen until our PD is current. So just sit back and wait. Sorry.

Thank you for your reply @dwheels76. I have the following two questions:

    (1) I received an e-mail which stated that interviews are generally scheduled within 60 days of receipt of all documents at NVC. Would you happen to know why it would say that if I'm expected to wait another 10-11 months?

    (2) The letter (mentioned in question 1) does not say the words "case complete". Is this normal?

  2. Years ago, they used to send welcome letters 6 months till your PD will become current, but since September, when they added the 2nd chart, they contact aproximately 1 year before. Yeah, that notification from NVC is a bit confusing, i already saw some post wondering about that in this forum, but visas will be issued only when PD will become current. Btw, did you get email from NVC stating that your case is complete? Usually they send it 3 months after you submitted your documents.

I just did that last week, called to NVC and provided my email address :-)

You did already a long journey as well, 11 months will fly by fast, i'm counting 13 months for myself :-) and looks like VB started to move faster for F1.

What I got from the NVC was a total of 3 things. First, they sent me an e-mail about three days after they received my AOS and supporting documents stating that my documents were received. The e-mail said it would take about 30 days to have it reviewed. However, I called the NVC and several representatives said that it was closer to 45 days. Next, after about 35 days, I got an e-mail which was a checklist for items that were missing/incomplete. The e-mail clearly stated not to send in the missing information to to the NVC, but rather to take it directly to the interview as the documents that were missing weren't anything major. Third, I got another e-mail like three days after the previously mentioned e-mail which basically said my case was in queue for an interview, and that interviews are usually scheduled within 60 days of documents being received. It's been almost 60 days now and I haven't heard from the NVC about any interviews being scheduled or anything. Now, if I have to wait until my priority date, then I can kiss the 60 day time frame goodbye as it means I still have another 300 days or so to go. The words "case complete" were never used in any of the e-mails I received. According to a particular member of the forums, that is apparently normal. I really hope things work out for both of us sooner than later :)

  3. Hi,

The 2nd chart (Oct 2009) means:

    1.Those who are in U.S. can adjust their status;

2.Those who are outside U.S. gets welcome letters and are able to process their documents till their PD will become current(1st chart).

For instance, i'm F1 as well, PD 10/12/2009, but i haven't received a welcome letter and can't proceed my documents, because they are not working on my case yet, because my PD is the 12th of October and the 2nd chart stating 10/01/2009, but hope, that next month it'll move forward and i'll get a welcome letter and even then, will have to wait till my PD will become current, as you do.

    Hope, that will help.

Thank you so much for the clarification, Lain :) I guess I'm confused because if it's the Sept '08 date we're going by, then my interview is still 11 months away. Since I got contacted by the NVC 2 months ago, that implies that NVC contacted me 13 months before a visa will be available, and that's so far ahead... which leaves me wondering why so far in advance. On top of that, the letter I got from the NVC says that usually they schedule interviews within 60 days from the date that they receive all the supporting documents. I'm approaching the 60 day mark soon. IF it is in fact the Sept '08 date then waiting 11 months would be closer to 330 days. See where my confusion is?

By the way, I'm really happy for you making it this far. I'm sure you'll get your welcome letter very soon as well because your PD seems to be not too far from mine, and we are both F1. Make sure you are set up for e-mail because it will notify you right away and its much faster :)

  4. UPDATE: Okay, so here's something new I discovered that MAY be the source of my confusion. My priority date is July '09. When I click on the current month's visa bulletin, I see two different charts. For F1, the first chart shows a cut-off date of 22SEP08. According to this chart, my priority date is not current. There is another chart right below this one, however, which states the current cut-off date of 01OCT09. Keeping in mind that my priority date is July '09, will my priority date for an interview be based on the 22SEP08, or 01OCT09 ?? I ask because according to the first chart, my PD is not current for an interview, whereas according to the second chart, my PD is current for an interview. Please help... this is stressing me out :(

  6. hi

it all depends on how the visa bulletin moves, your priority date has to be current for them to issue you an interview

check every month the visa bulletin

Seriously? This is not good. If it's according to my priority date then why would they contact me so far in advance?? The NVC made initial contact more than 2 months ago to start the choice of agent, ds-260, AOS, etc. Now they are saying I'm in queue for an interview and it can take another 11 months? That means they contacted me more than a year before the visa would be available?? This is crazy... and I hope that my understanding is wrong here.

  7. I'm over 21, and my father is a US citizen. He petitioned for me and my priority date is July 2009. I submitted all my documentation to the NVC recently and received 2 correspondence e-mails. The first e-mail was a checklist, which essentially told me that they needed some additional information and that I could take it directly to the interview (when scheduled). The second e-mail basically said that I was in queue for an interview. However, when I called the NVC today, the representative said that my priority date is July 2009 and for F1 they are currently issuing visas for August 2008. Does this mean that I have to wait another 11 months for an interview (august '08 until july '09) ?
