  1. At the embassy abroad, they have to test my mom twice, the first time they saw something in her lungs and they were affraid it was something contagious, so they tested again in a month and they realized it was just the remainings of a bad cold. They gave her a Medical examination sheet and ask her to go to a doctor when she arrives USA to "Follow up"

My question is, if this optional or not?? Since the immigration agent at the entrance didnt say absolutely nothing bout it.

    Thank you!

  2. My brother is an american citizen and I am a legal resident, he claimed my mom and dad and they went to their appoinment in Ciudad Juarez the last september. My dad got his legal residence without problem but my mom failed the medical since they detected some "small little white spots" in her X rays (lungs). The doctor at the clinic told her that could be nothing or could be Tuberculosis and they had to run some test during 3 days and they will have the results after 2 months (or so) and she will have to go back to Ciudad Juarez when the results were ready...

Anyway, she came back to town and went to 3 different doctors who ran the most expensive test for tuberculosis. The 3 of them conclude: SHE DOESN'T HAVE TUBERCULOSIS (we knew since the begining) what they saw in her lungs was the remainings of a severe cold or flu (MAKE SURE TO TAKE XRAYS AND CHECK IF YOU DONT HAVE THEM OR THIS COULD HAPPEN TO YOU)...as simple as that and she doesn't even need medicine for that, just excercise, water and I don't remember what else...

The good news is she is healthy the bad news...she has to go back to Ciudad Juarez.

The problem is (as usual) the clinic in ciudad juarez is telling her that she doesn't have to set an appoinment in the Embassy, since they are going to send the results directly to them and all she has to do is show up at the embassy and they will let her get in...and also a guy at the door in the consulate told her the same, that she doesn;t need an appopinment...

Does anybody know if this is true? I will hate to see my mom going all the way up there and get denied entrance or something stupid after all she went through...

Should she make an appoinment or just show up?

    THank you,

Good luck with your cases...mine was a k3 visa and is finally over!! (If you have any questions, please feel free to ask)

  3. Hello,

I came to USA with K3 visa. We went to the USA Embassy in Ciudad Juarez for the visa. The day before I got a medical examination and they just gave a sealed envelope, so I have no idea what it said.

Anyway, I didnt get any shots (They didn't even asked me for my vaccination record which I had on my hand) and as a part of the exam, this doctor woman asked me to get completely naked!! it was humilliating but I accepted it as a part of the horrible experience and I am over it (ha ha).

I got our interview in Cleveland for my I-145 and they send me a checklist of documents, documents that I already submitted with my I145 application, it did said (some of them) "unless already submitted".

SO, that means I don't have to put together a new affidavit to support? I already filled it 3 months ago...

And the medical exam...do I really have to go to a doctor here in USA for another? What type of examination is? Are they going to ask me to get naked again?? Oh no!!

THank you, I really appreciate any comment you have about this.

  8. Hello guys & gals!!

We got married by the law (civil) and church in Mexico and I came to this country with a K3 visa and now I am processing my adjustment fos status (become legal resident). But my question is if my marriage in another country like Mexico will give me all the obligations and rights that a marriage in the United States will give me?

It is plenty recognized like if we got married here in USA? or should I get marry here?

  9. Hello,

I am getting ready to fill my adjustment for status, based on a k3 visa. I already have the authorization for employment and social security number. My question is, since they took my biometrics for the I-765 Authorization for employment, are they going to take them again for the aos process? do I have to pay the 480 dlls again?

And since I am working, do you guys think that I still need an affidavit to support, I rememer I gave 3 affidavits from 3 different people when I applied for the k3 visa, they won't take those? they don't have them on file or something...omg, do we really have to do it again?

Thanks for your attention and have a good day!!

  10. Hello,

I am in USA with a k3 visa, in september I will be filling my adjustment for status, I already got a social security number and authorization fo employment. I moved the last december so, my question is do I have to notify my new adress to the INS and the social security department?

I am thinking about the proofs that I am going to need for the interview for the adjustment fo status.

  11. Hello,

I just have a simple question, I went to Cleveland to give my biometrics as part of my authorization for employment, which is already approved and in my hand, now I have to file the Adjustment for status (I'm a k3 visa holder) and the instructions said that the have to take my biometrics. So, my question is: is not enough one time? do I really have to go again and do the same?

    Thank you

  12. We got married in Mexico, almost 4 years ago. I got the k3 visa (was done faster than the immigrant visa) in Ciudad Juarez on november, 2006. I got into USA on december, 2006, we filed the Application for employment authorization on may 15 and got approved on october 11.

The thing is we went to get the ss for the 2nd time, (we actually went rigth after I came to USA because the immigration agent at the airport told me that was the first step and the ss told me to wait for my authorization fo employment) and he agent said that there was a problem:

My passport is under my maiden name and my k3 visa is under a wierd format and it's like that in my authorization for employment.

    Here is the example:

Maiden name: Mary Devine Tancer (in mexico, the Devine is the father last name and Tancer is the mother last name)

K3 visa name & employment authorization: Mary Devine de Stevens (Stevens is my husband last name, so they changed my name without even asking me)

I understand the doubt of the ss agent, the tradition in USA will be Mary Stevens, erase my parents last name and put my husband last name, so he asked me to make sure that is gonna be my name in USA and I wolud like to be just Mary Stevens.

I believe that since in Mexico, when you get marry the name don't change, you keep you maiden name forever, and thats why they changed like that. So, my question is, sould I get my ss with the name on my visa and ead? do you think is a mistake? can I change my name in the future? the ss cant put me Mary Devine if I don't have any document under that name?

Well, here is the story, I hope somebody could help me or if anybody want to ask me something about my whole immigration experience, I will help with all my pleasure, thats why I made I little resume of my process.

Thank you and good luck to everybody!!

  13. Hello,

My husband and I have been married since almost 3 years ago. We got married in Mexico and I spent most of that time in Mexico and he in USA, he went to visit me like 4 times and we got the k3 visa in Juarez on october 29. I arrived to USA on december 21 and I[ve been here for 1 month. The immigration agent in the airport said the next step is go to the social security office but he didn't say a word about keep processing the immigrant visa which is pending in the National Visa Center.

I was expecting to hear that we should keep processing the I-130 but he said: "Mrs. as son as you want to get a job you should go to the ss office a month after you arrived USA...." :help:

What should we do now? We are planning to go to the social security office anyway, but what about the I-130?

  14. My visa was approved...thanks God!!

We arrived to Juarez on sunday October 29, my husband arrived to El Paso airport and I arrived to Juarez airport. He took a taxi in El Paso to Juarez airport, since Juarez is such a dangerous city, specially for women, he decided to make wait for him in the airport. He paid 60 dollars (!) from El Paso to Juarez and another 20 from Juarez airport to the hotel.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express…nice hotel. 70 dollars per night, breakfast included and close to the consulate…around 4 blocks. There is a Sanborns door to door, Sanborns is a popular Mexican restaurant with a nice shopping area…delicious food and not expensive. Mc Donalds, Burger king, Wendy´s and a lot more fast food restaurants, two malls, “Pockets” which is a Sport bar with pool tables and a lot of restaurants and bars,, we recommend you “Chamucos” (free bar thursday and friday nights for just 15 dollars) and “Cananas”. :luv:

The food is really bad there, you should go to fast food (you know the American franchises) or Sanborns…it´s guarantee of good food.

    Medical examination

We went to the blue one, next door to the consulate at 7 am: blood test, then you go to a private room, get naked (like the day you was born) but with a little blue robe. The a doctor size and measure you and take a look of your body, asking a lot of questions at the same time. I got lucky, my doctor was very nice. Then X-rays and that was all for me. Done at 9 30 am. And picked the results up at 2 pm, in a mysterious black envelope. $155 dollars.

    Consulate Interview

Arrived at 7am and there was a huge line already. Some people told me (before the trip) that doesn´t matter the place in the line but, according to my experience, you should go there as early as you can. We arrived at 7am and I was one of the last person to be interviewed. That sucks!!

You are going to security checkpoint, just like the airports. Girls…don´t bring makeup with mirrors L not mention cellphones L Then you have to give your appointment letter to a lady and wait to be called, first to someone who is going to put in order your documents, second the fingerprints and that´s all in the first building…the worst is the second building…

First of all…DON´T PANIC…you are going to see around 400 people waiting to be call for the interview before you, just be patience. Then you just have to wait to be call for the interview, if you get approved you are gonna have to wait again for the mysterious yellow envelope and your visa. Done at 3:45pm!!! $109 dollars

My interview was good, she was a old american lady, not very friendly, to be honest, she treated me like she didn’t want to approve me, not rude but not warm but it was ok. Anyway, she asked me if went to USA before, how many times and if legal or illegally. When we got married and if I have any proof…I laugh and said “just tell me what do you want to see, documents, letters, phone bills, wester union´s, pictures? Or maybe you want to talk to him, he is outside” She said just the pictures, I handed the church wedding photos with all my husband and my family there, she just pointed some of them and ask “who is this…who is that…” she gave my pictures back and said “Welcome to the United States, your visa is approved”

Then I had to wait until they call me again…those minutes felt like hours…I just wanted to get out of there and tell my husband the good news…so, I advice you to be patience and once you get the visa take your time to check your passport and to make all kind of questions you have, don´t run to talk to your honey!! I did that and I forgot to ask some details and I had to call to the Consulate the next day

We spent 9 days (we took 5 days for vacations) you just need 3 or 4 days. So, if you have any doubt or question…be my guest!!

Good luck to everybody!! and remember it´s not too bad :D just be positive and optimist, all the people likes smiling people :)

  15. Congratulations Malie!!

Wonderful news!! just 2 days of difference betwen our dates...that´s funny!! the only thing I don´t like about my date is, the next day, 2 november is a mexican holiday and according to their page, they don´t work :crying: so, we are gonna have to stay there more time that the estimated  your date is the friday, I reccomend you to make sure that the medical clinics will be working on 2 november, well I´m assuming that you were planning to get the medical interview one day before, it´s just an advice.

My husband is going with me, so we are trying to figure out how we are going to do it...and if you need tips about the hotels and stuff like that, please feel free to ask, I´m a little familiar to that city (never been there but one of my relatives).

Tracy, unfortunately I can´t help about the phone number, since I called from Mexico and I don´t know anything about the marcation in the USA, but I hear some people here in Mexico have problems trying to call 900 numbers and all they have to do is call to the phone company and ask them to enable that system.

My 1-129F were approved on 24 july and not sure the exactly day Ciudad Juarez got the case but I knew it was between 7 - 12 august...pretty fast.

Mike, don´t worry the k3 visa is moving pretty fast, well, in my case just took 5 months since we filed the petition until the interview and yes, Ciudad Juarez is the only one processing the visas based on family in Mexico. And yes, Veracruz is a long way from Juarez, Juarez is rigth on the border to Texas and Veracruz is on the south-central part of the country, but the fligths from Mexico city to Juarez are not expensive and have departures daily.

    Later!!

  16. Thank you zenaelarabi and Malie!!

Malie, here is the whole thing: my husband got the nvc letter with the case number on 2 august (9 days after the I-129F approval). I don´t know exactly when the Cosulate receive it from them but since then I called three times to the 01 900 849 4949. The first time (23 august) they said they already got the case but it was "still loading on the system" and I should call again in ONE MONTH. The second time (1 september) the lady said "the consulate in ciudad juarez didn´t revise your case yet, call in ONE MONTH" well, since they asked me to call in one month twice...I called back in one week!!

This time (8 september) surprise!! the lady said "you have an appoinmet on 1 november". So, I don´t know your timelines but according to my case is going to take you around 42 days to get a interview date since the date of your I-129F approval and another month to finally go there.

You just have to keep calling to the embassy in Mexico city, don´t call very often or they´ll get annoyed. And don´t listen to them if they said "call in one month" just call every week.

When they finally give you the date (they send the packet the same day they schedule your date) ask them what day did they send you the packet. I asked the lady and she said my packet has been sent on 5 september and if don´t get it for 5 october I must call and let them know (the mail service in mexico is not dependable).

Oh! and if you notice the I-129F has a expiration date, so the first time I called I let this know to the guy on the phone, he said it won´t be a problem and I supposed they must set you a date before the I-129F expires. They didn´t explain me this, it´s just my conclusion B) I could be wrong.

If you or anybody else have more questions or if I wasn´t enough clear please let me know, my english is not very good but I do the best I can :D (my husband said I talk funny sometimes)

    Later!!

  17. Hey guys!!

I got my interview date in Ciudad Juarez!! It´s going to be on 1 novemeber and I am very happy but NERVIOUS at the same time!! I just wanted to say thank you to all of you, all the information you share in this forum was very helpful and I would like to express my gratitude (F)

Wish us good luck and I promise I´ll memorize the whole thing up there and even if I get denied :crying: (God forbiden) I´ll share my experience with you as soon as I get back

I just have one more question. When you get married in Mexico the last names (we don´t have middle name, we have paternal last name and maternal last name) don´t change, just if you request it, I didn´t and all my documentation even my passport are with my maiden name. Did anybody get a k3 visa with maiden name in passport? They didn´t mention it in any documentation.

    Thank you all of you!!

  18. No, you ain´t gonna have any problem. Your visa was cancelled but they didn´t deport you, very different circumstances. You need a waiver for a deportation but not for just a cancellation. They could cancel your visa for just a "doubt" a deportation means you broke the law and you didn´t.

    Good luck!!
