  1. Yea, I think it'#######-n-miss at this point.

Another K-1 petitioner that has the same NOA2 date as me has already confirmed that NVC has forwarded his file to his consulate.

I, on the other hand, received an email reply from NVC on Friday, that they haven't even seen my file yet. So much for "batch" mailings from CSC .....?? You'd think that they'd send all "like" approvals in a single batch. Guess not.

  2. You dont need to go with her to the interview. They even say at the Embassy that the fiance or family members are not allowed in the embassy during the interview. If you want to go just for support before and after thats cool. But dont go because you think you have to. Save the vacation time for when she gets here. Unless you have 51 weeks of vacation a year :-)

I dont know about Manilla but I'm sure it's no different than Russia.

I don't know if this response was based on a knowledge of the Manila Consulate, or knowledge of the Russian Consulate .... applied to the Manila Consulate, ...... but not all consulates are equal.

At the consulate in the Dominican Republic, for example, both parties do need to be at the interview. The consular officials separate the couple into different rooms, ask questions about each other and the relationship, and then compare responses for consistency.

So, I would definitely check the website for the Manilla consulate, and/or consult with someone who has first-hand knowledge of that consulate.

  3. Holly,

I am sooooo sorry to be the bearer of bad news ...... but your estimated wait for an interview will be approximately 24 months from the time that your file arrives at the Consulate in the Dominican Republic.

According to your timeline, you received your NOA2 in August .... of this year. So, it's quite likely that you will be on the new waiting list that is scheduled to be posted on October 2nd or 3rd.

This is the link to the waiting list and the appointement list:

    http://www.usemb.gov.do/Consular/iv-e.htm

Both files are in a PDF format, so to find your place on the 500+ page list just use the "search" function (enter your case number that was assigned by NVC).

And if you'd like more information specific to Americans bringing their spouses or fiances to the US from the the Dominican Republic you can check out this Website: dominicanstotheusa.com

    Good luck!!!

    Wendy

  4. Congratulations!!

Yeah!! A fellow vicitm of the Santo Domingo Consulate!!! Take a number enjoy your two year wait!! ;):P

We'll probably have similar rankings on the next waiting list, as I just recevied my NOA2 as well.

Race ya to the finish .........

  5. .... either way, that fact that March, April, and May have anything other 100% next to them is just plain WRONG!!

It's really a shame that CSC hasn't been able to knock-out those files by now!!

And even though I DO have my NOA2, I'm beginning to feel frustrated all over again for those who filed so much longer before me, and haven't been approved yet.

To all of those from March, April and May .... you're in my thoughts and prayers!! ;)

  6. Although the correct answers have already been given, this is a quoted written response that I received from the Embassy/Consulate in the Dominican Republc when I made an inquiry as to the 24-month wait time:

    9 Fam 41.81 N6.2 Validity of a K-1 Petition

"An approved K-1 visa petition is valid for a period of four months from the date of DHS action and may be revalidated by the consular officer any number of times for additional periods of four months from the date of revalidation, provided the officer concludes that the petitioner and the beneficiary remain legally free to marry and continue to intend to marry each other within 90 days after the benficiary's admission to the United States."

This renewal will happen automatically until the Consulate can finally grant an interview.

    Good luck!!!

  7. Please note .... I am NOT planning on doing this .... I just want to confirm a theory that I read about .....

Has anyone ever used to following loop-hole:

Person A (American) and Person B (Dominican), decide to ditch the K-1 process and get married in Jamaica on tourist visas. If the couple then files for a spousal visa to the US, would the interview be at the consulate in Jamaica? And what would the potential hang-ups be???

Thanks in advance to anyone who has enough first-hand knowledge to comment!!

  8. So, we're once again on the merry-go-round where the Post Office decides that I deserve my mail only sporadically. So far this week, I've not received an interview letter for a university position and a cellphone bill, all of which I find out when it's returned to sender and the sender calls me and says 'have you moved?'

LOL!! You must live in Las Vegas too!!

Every month our company send out thousands of account statements, to customers who have been in business at the same location for five or more years, and every month the Post Office just randomly returns various pieces of mail as "undeliverable", "no such address", etc ...... and in one instance, one of the returned items was for a customer that located ACROSS THE STREET from the Post Office!! And then I can't even tell you how many pieces of mail end-up doing a tour of the US and Hawaii before they are finally delivered to our cross-town customers!! It's comical and frustrating at the same time.

Regarding your question, a 3 letter code, followed by 10 digits sounds correct.

    Good luck!!!
