  1. Yes we Have actually sent in twice before first with a cheque and it was never cashed, and second we got an RFE for a missing form, the RFE got lost in the mail so we only found out a week before and were unable to meet the deadline. But the second he sent cash as well and we did receive a NOA1 And RFE so that's why I'm not sure if the payment is an issue.

We have had the worst luck and it is really starting to put a strain on us :(

I was thinking it was a payment issue too. Do you think they will send the forms and payment back, or an RFE, or we will have to send in a payment, or all of it again? And we sent it to the petition to:

    Po box 660151

    Dallas Texas

    75266

And we will try ringing them on Monday, are they open at the weekends? Will my London US embassy be able to help?

I'm sorry for all the questions but I'm so confused and worried!

    Thank you :)

  2. Hi!

My fiancé sent in our petition on May 20th, and he has still not heard anything back. No email. No text. No NOA1. I'm really worried it has been lost. He stupidly sent cash so we can not track it from the bank. And I have since read that this is also not an acceptable form of payment. Is this normal to wait so long for NOA1? What will happen next if the payment is wrong? What is there phone number to call them please?? I'm freaking out, this happened last time we sent in the I-129f but with a cheque and we never heard back. Why do they ignore us

    Thank you

  3. If you call them they won't tell you anything. Once they get it they will send it back to you because it is not an acceptable form of payment. You will get your whole package back. It has to be personal check or money order drawn in a US bank. It takes a little over a month to get back to you. Good luck in the future!

Hi I appreciate your repose, however our first I-129f which we sent off last year with cash was accepted (it got denied due to other reasons so we are starting again) I told him last time and this not to send cash but he has. So I'm sure cash is acceptable.

  4. Lalalaura, Hi nice meeting you and welcome to the room!

I don't want to sound negative however, cash? That is not a way to pay for the fees, at all... I would tell you to ask him to call. Please adjust the timeline It help to have more accurate stats.

    Paying Immigration Fees

Use the following guidance when paying filing, biometrics, or other fees to USCIS:

    • Bank drafts, cashier's checks, certified checks, personal checks (See Check Instructions below), and money orders must be drawn on U.S. financial institutions and payable in U.S. funds.
    • If you live in the United States or its territories, make the check or money order payable to U.S. Department of Homeland Security (not "USDHS" or "DHS").
    • If you live outside the United States or its territories and you are filing your application or petition where you live:
    • Fees for applications and petitions filed at international offices are listed under the Forms section of this website.
    • Not all forms of payment are accepted abroad. See the website of the USCIS office where you wish to file or contact the appropriate U.S. Embassy or Consulate for information on what forms of payment are accepted andhow to pay at your local U.S. Consulate or Embassy.
    Credit Cards

USCIS accepts credit cards in all domestic Field Offices that accept payments. Accepted cards include Visa®, Mastercard®, American Express®, and Discover® Network.

    USCIS Check Instructions

Customers that require payment for the services they are requesting are advised to follow the instructions below to ensure that their application will be filed correctly.

If you are paying your fees by check, please be aware of the following:

    • Electronic Deposit of Checks If you are paying your fees by check to the cashier, we will convert your check into an electronic fund transfer. When you hand your signed check to the cashier, we will scan your check and retain it. We will then use the account information from your check to make an electronic fund transfer from your checking account for the amount of the check.
    • Insufficient Funds Please note that the electronic fund transfer from your account can occur faster than normal processing of a paper check. If we cannot complete the electronic fund transfer because your account has insufficient funds, we will try to make the transfer up to two more times. If your account still lacks sufficient funds, you will be billed the original check amount and a one-time administrative fee by USCIS.
    • Authorization By presenting your check to the cashier, you authorize USCIS to convert your check into an electronic fund transfer. If the transfer cannot occur for technical reasons, you authorize us to process the copy of your original check through normal paper check procedures.
    Please Note

Personal checks must be pre-printed with the name of the bank and the account holder. Also, the account holders address and phone number must be pre-printed, typed or written in ink on the check. All checks must be typed or written in ink.

    • Write the date you are filling out the check including: month, day and year. Important note: Write the date of the check in the U.S. style of month/day/year. (Example: July 4, 2015 or 7/4/15, but not 4/7/15.)
    • On the "Pay to the Order of" line write: "U.S. Department of Homeland Security."
    • Write in numbers the exact dollar amount of the fee for the service you are requesting. In the example, the amount is "$595.00."
    • Spell out the exact dollar amount of the fee for the service you are requesting. The "cents" portion of the amount should be written as a fraction over 100. In this example, the amount is "Five hundred ninety-five and 00/100."
    • Write a brief description of the purpose of your payment. In this example, it is "N-400 application fee."
    • Sign the check using your legal signature.

    Hi and thank you.

I know it would have been better of course to pay by cheque and I told him but he sent cash. So with that in mind, any help on my original post?

  5. Hello, my fiance (us citizen) recently missed our RFE deadline as he was trying to obtain a new copy of his birth certificate that took forever to arrive. We recieved a letter that our petition has been denied, what is our next step? This was our first time applying for the visa. Can we just apply again from the start? As I have read that we have to send a letter abandoning our last petition?

    Thank you in advance :)

  6. Hi,

Yes all the terms are very confusing but I think you've managed to help me figure it out so thank you all!

We received the NOA1 on Jan 14th, and it was from the California service centre (need to change my timeline) so we will wait for the NOA2. I just used the tracker online and it says it was received, so I hope it will turn to approved soon. He has not been sent an RFE form but we will see what happens. I don't think he missed anything, he sent 2 forms (the petition and the recipt form, sorry I can't remember the form names) and the money. Was there anything else?

I have some friends that I using lawyers but that's only because of previous visas, but we will try to do it ourselves.

I am not aware of my J1 visa having the 2 year residency, is there a way I can find out? But it it's June/July that's fine, as we are hoping to get the K1 for September, do you think that is possible?

Thank you all and sorry for knowing absolutely nothing about this haha. You've been a great help!!

  7. Thank you Nick, that was very helpful. Ok so I need to wait until London get the application and we receive NOA2 and then I will have to do the DS-160 again? I thought I was missing lots of paper work and confused myself. Thank you all so much for your help! I'm glad I found this forum.

Also, has anyone used a lawyer and found it useful? Or was it just a waste of money?

  8. Hi there, I am a UK citizen in the process of applying for a K1 visa to live with my American fiancé. He (my American fiancé has applied for and received recipt of form I-129f) and I have submitted the online form DS-160 but have not received anything back apart from confirmation of submission. I have also recieved a "no trace" police certificate. My question is what are the next steps to the process? I have read lots online and am very confused so a step my step guide would be appreciated. Can I go ahead and book a medical exam now? Also I had a J1 visa in June - sept of 2014 would this affect my chances of getting a K1 visa.

    Thank you for your help.
