Absolutely take the marriage certificate that you have, if that's all there is. However, visit the Fort Bend County courthouse in Richmond (or the Annex in Missouri City, Texas Pkwy. just off Hwy. 90) and invest in a certified copy. They can probably prepare one for you on the spot.

My wife still has her maiden name on her passport but her expired greencard and i-751 1-year extension reflects her married name. Problem is we're travelling without a certified copy of our marriage certificate. Will that be needed and will we have an issue? We only have a copy of the marriage certificate right now.

So the wife finally received her biometrics appointment yesterday. This was after filing for a service request on April 7. I wonder though if she's gonna be required another biometrics when she applies for naturalization in December.

We're going on 30 days on Friday without getting a biometrics appointment, should we be getting worried?

Feeling left out with all the bio dates getting filled in. Still no mail as of today.

For those that have already gotten their biometric letters, is the receipt# the same as your NOA1? I called USCIS today and they said they can't pull any info on the NOA1 receipt number and was asking me for a receipt# on the biometrics? When I called last week they were able to pull it up by the NOA1 receipt number and tell me it hasn't gone out yet. USCIS is always confusing to talk to on the phone. I really should stop calling them.
Can anyone shed some light into this please. We haven't gotten the biometrics letter yet and am getting really anxious to have it in my hand.

Has CSC slowed down? We have yet to receive the biometrics appointment letter. I called USCIS earlier and I was told nothing has been sent out as of yet. I was told to wait 30 days from the NOA date to call back if still not received.
Any clue why it would be delayed?

Worried. Card expired 03/15, mailed package 03/10 to VSC, per usps tracking, it was delivered 03/14 afternoon. Check has not been processed till now and no news from the Center. At what point should I pick up the phone and call? Are there people who mailed by 03/10 that has checks still not cashed?
Hi Tech! I thought I cut it too close. Wife's anniversary was 3/18 and I sent out the package 3/7 which they got on 3/8. Letter came a week later with a 3/8 NOA Date, same as they received it. I was worried at the time 'cuz I didn't think it was going to make it to the point that I even included a letter explaining and requesting for them to accept the late filing (per USCIS 800 number). I've seen several timelines where VSC issued the NOA the same date it arrive. Hopefully, your NOA shows up soon.

Planing to take my wife on a cruise for our 5 year anniversary. I found cruise from Houston to Cozumel, Mexico and back. I've read of people having gone out of the country and back on similar conditions but was wondering if anyone has done this via cruise. I imagine point of entries at airports see this day in and day out but was a little concerned that the cruise lines may not have dealt with this too much. Can someone with first hand experience chime in please.

Ha ha! Not for us though. My wife is planning to petition her mother once she becomes a citizen. That may be on her at that point but I'm sure as heck the prep work and paperwork is going to land on my lap.

One has to be a green card holder for additional three years after the removal of conditions has been approved to be eligible to file for naturalization.
This is per the USCIS site.
- Have been a permanent resident (green card holder) for at least 3 years
Also found this from a lawyer site but this is what I've always thought...
- Once the adjustment of status application is approved, the clock starts ticking for when naturalization can be sought.
- As a green card holder married to a U.S. citizen, a foreign national must wait three years before being eligible for naturalization. However, a naturalization applicant can apply for naturalization 3 months before becoming eligible for naturalization.

I've got a question that I should probably do a search for...
How does it work for naturalization where my wife qualifies for in a year and these i-751 approvals taking a year to get approved. Is the removal of conditions a pre-requisite to eligibility to get naturalized or can she apply while waiting for this?

WHEW! Finally got our NOA1 today 3/13/16. My wife's green card expires in 5 days. For those that have yet to file, save yourselves the stress and file early. We overlooked it. I heard an immigration commercial on the radio 2 weeks ago and realized we needed to file. Thank God!

How strict are they with the evidence?
This is what I sent in the pack:
Wife's green card and passport
Wedding Cert
Birth Cert of our child together who is now 3 years old
Automobile insurance cards
Medical Insurance where she's the policy holder
Bank statement cover
Credit card statement we have together
My beneficiary declaration from my work
a bunch of photos screenshots from facebook with dates on them and everything (figured its verifiable)
We didn't have any lease or mortgage documents together cuz, we rented from my sister then when we bought our home, I'm the only one on the mortgage.
'hope that's sufficient and no RFE's for us. I'm hoping the fact that we have a child together should be sufficient evidence.
