  1. What is the process for my fiancé to obtain a US credit card in her name? She is living in United States but we aren't getting married for another few weeks. What is the process as she moved from the U.K. She has plenty of money and a good credit history before she moved. Obviously she doesn't have a job in the US yet.

Any help on this subject is much appreciated. Thank you

  2. Thanks to all for replying.

So, the process is once you get married then you apply for adjustment of status. During that we should apply for Advance Parole? How will I know where AOS will be processed? My local office is Chicago, so no clue what the times are for the interview?

The advance parole would be needed for terminally ill family member. So, do you have to apply again for employment authorization once you receive your green card? Or do you only have to do it one time right after you get married?

This is all very confusing. Where is the best place to find information on these topics?? Thank you!!

  3. They will tell you, but it's not for certain, for real, forever until your status changes to issued. They can hold you up on security checks, but that doesn't happen very often.

Ok Thanks. If approved how long does it usually take to get the K1 Visa in your hands?

  4. My fiancé lives in the UK. I was laid off off recently, so I need a co-sponsor who has already filled out the I-134 form. Do I still need to fill out a I-864 form as well? Do both forms need to get filled out/completed? Our interview is next week and I'm rather confused.

Also how long does it take to fill out DS-160?

    Thanks for your help!

  5. I haven't seen a 2016 version of the instruction letter (packet 3) from London, but in the past it always said if you went past your date of petition validity, you should bring a new letter of intent (from the American) to your interview so they can revalidate the petition. It should say he/she is still free to marry and intends to marry you within 90 days of your entry on a K1 visa.

Some bring the letter and they don't even bother to look at it, but since they instruct you to do it, have your fiancé get one in the mail to you. It is really a non-issue and nothing to worry about. Nothing bad will happen. More of a deadline that isn't enforced like you fear.

    Oh ok...thanks again!

  6. I realize you have 6 months from the date of the medical to enter the United States and then 90 days to get married once you enter America on your K1 Visa.

My question for the forum is how long do you anticipate it taking to move to the United States after receiving your K1 visa? 1 week? 1 month? 3 months?

Just curious if majority of people plan to move immediately once receiving the Visa or move closer to the 6 month allowance??
