  1. So fiancee finally made it last week to the US !!! Yay !!! On a serious note, we will be getting married soon and i have no idea exactly which forms need to be done to send for adjustment of his status. And what's the difference between option 1 and option 2? ALSO, the fees involved, are those paid upfront when i send the package or does USCIS send something and from there i send payment?

  2. Was August the soonest you were able to schedule your interview?

I am still waiting on NVC to receive my packet, and my NOA2 is valid April 7 - Aug. 6.

    Should I worry?[/quote

It actually wasn't the soonest. Ee chise August 3 because i needed to make some money. the soonest Icould've chosen was May going into June but i was in DR and got back to US on May 15 so financially it didnt make sense to go right back to DR or extend my trip. I went to visit the fianncee thinking the nvc will take forever and wouldn't get to DR until early June(thats what rep told me) so we decided for me to go visit him in early May. when i got there we decided to call NVC an d check status, it was already sent to D R a few days before i got there

About the NOA2 letter, i actually go to the consulate appointment the same day as it expires, USCIS said it's not a problem. Obviously if the already or wil soon make appt , i would make sure to get another letter if its after it expires

  3. Hi,

I just did my fiances' while I was visiting him in DR a few weeks ago.Keep in mind I did all this BEFORE I even received the OK from the embassy to start making my apptointments.

Before you do anything, you need to call NVC and check the status of your petition with your receipt number given to you on NOA1. You might get an update, you might not. You are going to ask for your case # which will start with SDO and get your invoice number as well. If you have no luck with NVC, call the US embassy in Sto Domingo at 829 956 5144( this is the number of the department that handles fiancee visas) and ask if they have received the petition. Again make sure you get your case number and invoice number.

Once you get that, call the U.S. Dept of state and set up a profile over the phone. You are going to need your fiancees name, DOB, case number and an email address so the can contact you. This is important to do so they can identify you or your fiancee anytime you call to ask questions, etc.

Once that is done, go to https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/ and "start an application". This is where the case number comes in. It is very important all info is correct and make sure your fiancee can double check it. At the end of all the questions, a picture will need to be uploaded. It can be a pain in the ### but keep trying until it accepts your image. Remember to print the confirmation page and make a few copied just in case you need in the future. Also choose the option to mail the confirmation page to an email. Save and put to the side.

After that step is done go to https://cgifederal.secure.force.com/ and make a new profile as a new user. Once you are in, you will click fee payment ( I think) or schedule appointment and it should ask a few questions to ensure its a fiancee visa in which you are applying for. It will also ask weither you want it mailed to your fiancee house or to be picked up and wat which location. I think it asks for your case number so have that in handy. Once you answer questions it will bring you to page where you choose how to pay your fee. Choose Cash and PRINT the page given. Your fiancee must to to BANCO POPULAR and pay in cash. Make sure fiancee has the printed out sheet because there is a number (CGI) that links the payment to your fiance's account you just made. Once that is paid, copy and save the receipt given to your fiancee.YOU HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL AFTER 11AM THE FOLLOWING DAY FOR THE PAYMENT TO PROCESS BEFORE YOU GO BACK TO SCHEDULE APPOINTMENTS.

So after 11am the next day, go back to https://cgifederal.secure.force.com/ and login to do the same as above until you get to the fee payment page. At this point, I remembered that the receipt number given to me in BANCO POPULAR was already linked to the account you will see a bit towards the bottom. Make sure its the same number and click continue or accept. It will then bring you to a page where you make your appointment for VAC (pics and fingerprints). After that screen, the SCHEDULE APPOINTMENT with Consulate comes up. I would be safe and schedule at least 2 weeks after your VAC Appointment just to make sure. A confirmation page comes up. either you can print of send to email. And THAT"S IT !.

Do Not wait for embassy to send fiancee anything. You will dye waiting. LOL.

I suggest you fill everything out since EVERYTHING IS IN ENGLISH unless your fiancee can understand English.

*** Medical exam is done at 2 locations. You can either call them up and make an appointment or walk-in. I suggest fiancee do this at least 2 weeks before the consul interview.

If you have any other questions, please send a message whenever.

    -sydney

  4. If you're lucky enough things will go faster from now on.

I sent my k1 package second week of Feb, received NOA 2 end of March..and NVC sent the package to the consulate in the Dominican Republic on April 27. I schedule my interview already for next month.

So the whole process for me was quick.

Good luck make sure you have everything for the interview.

Asegurate que tu pareja saque acta inexttensa, conducta de policia, record de vacunas....CUANDO DESDE QUE NVC ENVIE ESO PARA EL CONSULADO.... PORQUE EL RECORD DE POLICIA DURA 15 DIAS PARA ENTREGAR (ALGO ASI).

SI NO TIENE RECORD DE VACUNA Y NO LO PUEDE CONSEGUIR, CUANDO SE VAYA HACER LOS EXAMENES AHI LE PONEN VACUNA SY LE CREAN UNA TARJATA.

OTRA COSA... ASEGURATE DE CHEQUIAR TODO EN EL CEAC.STATE.GOV DESDE QUE EL NVC ENVIE EL PAQUETE PARA RD...CUANDO EL CASO DIGA "READY" ESO QUIERE DECIR QUE YA PUEDES HACER TU CITA.

A TU PAREJA NO LE VAN A ENVIAR UN "PRE-AVISO" YA ELLOS NO HACEN ESO, PARA QU ENO VAYAS A PERDER TIEMPO ESPERANDO CARTA, EMAIL, O PRE-AVISO DEL CONSULADO....ESO NUNCA PASARA.

YO TE PUEDO GUIAR, A MI ME GUIARON EN ESTE SITE VISA JOURNEY, Y GRACIAS A TODAS LAS PERSONAS DE AQUI HICE TODO SIN PAGAR ABOGADO, Y HASTA AHORA TODO BIEN. EN JUNIO VIAJO A RD PARA LA ENTREVISTA CON DIOS MEDIANTE...

CUALQUIER COSA ME PUEDES ESCRIBIR EN PRIVADO... O POR AQUI.

    SALUDOS,

    BRIAN

    Hi Everyone!,

I Have a question, which Affidavit of Support do i need? there are like 3 to choose from and i want to make sure I bring the correct one to consulate interview. Any info would be great.

Necesito saber cual Affidavit of Support necesito para llevar al consul el dia de la cita. hay muchas disponibles pero no se cual exactamente?

    Gracias!

  5. Hey my friend! hope your fiancee made it!! I have a quick question, Does my fiancee need to go to the embassy to pick up instructions as to what other paperwork/ steps are needed? he hasn't recieved anything and the appt is set to be in August. so far the ds160 is done, appt set. i know he needs a police record as we get closer. i also know an affidavit of support with supporting docs are needed as well as evidence we are still communicating. anything else?? Thanks for all your help!

  6. Yes, everything is good! How are you?

I got back on Saturday, Visa was approved. We just got an email this morning that the passport and visa are ready to be picked up. He's on his way there now to pick it up. I was hoping he could fly back with me, Hopefully he'll be home with me next week! :dancing:

The interview was so easy. They only asked us a few questions.

    Questions they asked him:

Where do I work? How long have I been working there?

Do I have children? How many? What are their names and ages?

Has he ever travel outside DR before?

    Questions they asked me:

    How did we meet?

    How did he propose?

    What are his parents names?

How many brothers and sisters does he have? and their names?

It was just an easy going conversation. The consul was very nice, He then asked to see pictures of us. And then he said :"approved"

We were prepared with all the required documents, but they didn't ask to see mine.

    When is your interview?

My advis, get there early. Our interview was at 7:00 am, my fiance told me the night before we were going to get there at 4am, and I was like "No that's too early" LOL Thank God I listened to him, when we got there there was already a line. They start letting people in at 6:30 am. We were done and outta there by 8:15 am. I couldn't believe the line when we got outside. There must have been at least 500 people on line. It was crazy. But overall, it was an easy experience. We had all our documents in order and it was a simple, easy interview. [/quot

oh wow!! congrats!!!!! I'm super excited I just got my NOA2 last week so hopefully by August we should interview. Did you have to pay anything once you got inside for the interview?

  7. My fiance just went through the process last week. He paid the $265 (pesos) at the bank. The medical was $190 without vaccines. For K-1 visa it is not required to get the vaccines in DR, if you choose to get the vaccines there, its $200 and something dollars. I don't remember the exact amount.

Our interview is next week on the 31st. :dancing: I keep reading the list over and over again to make sure we have everything.

Good luck with your process. You can send me a message if you have any questions. I'm leaving on the 30th to DR. I'll let you know how it goes and what to expect when I return.

Okk thanks soo much for the info. I was so confused. And yes please get back to me when you return. i will greatly appreciate it :) and good luck?

  8. Yes the DS160 sorry.. but is what it says on the us embassy sto domingo website

"PAYMENT: The date of your interview you will need to pay, for each visa applicant, the fee of US$265.00 (or the equivalent in Dominican pesos) at the Cashier in the Consular Section, American Embassy. "http://santodomingo.usembassy.gov/mobile//k1-k2_instructions.html

is that $265 the same exact thing as paying the DS160 at banco popular? Im assuming they havent updated the website OR is it truly is a whole different fee?

  9. okkk.. here is the question.. can i schedule the interview date WHILE documents are being sent to the embassy?? obviously i would be stalking NVC for case number so i can schedule with the embassy and medical exam.... or Sto Domingo automatically give you a date and thats the day you have to stick with?

  10. based on VJ estimates, i should find out something soon about

k-1 status if a NOA2 or RFE will be given ( crossing fingers ). Lets say i do get NOA2, what steps to take after? Don't want any stones unturned !! I've seen the k-1 process timeline on VJ, but i feel it doesn't get into detail as it should.Consulate will be In Dominican Republic. any tips will help

    Thanks :)
