  1. Hi everyone, I am just wondering if anyone here has recently either gotten any response from the e-mail you sent (IV email at the Montreal consulate) or the visa was approved and received your passport in the past month or so?

I've been waiting for a month now, and seems like nothing has been processed... and I have to fly to USA in 3 weeks...

I am extremely frustrated, because the officer who interviewed us said that I should be receiving my visa within 4 weeks.... :clock:

I think "4 weeks" is the common message that all applicants receiving from consulate. But what in reality is that I'm still waiting for six months. Although consulate asked for my passport after 4m AP, they returned it attached with a paper that I need to wait for further AP.

It differs from case to case. As you see in this forum, there are some applicants thst received their visa after one or two weeks.

  2. Okay, just got email from Consulate - medical has expired :(

Question - is there a validity to your entire application? I read in one of the forums that if your application goes on pass one year, it will get cancelled, and you have to start over again. Does anyone have any experience with that?

This waiting game is absolutely outrageous! No one should have this much power over other people's lives. They don't understand that people put their lives on hold while waiting for these visas.

they only tell you something is missing after you have waited for 6 - 8 weeks, and during that time, the application is just sitting there.

As I remember, one year validity is only referred to nonimmigrant visa. The process of immigrant visa application might take more than one year and the consulate just ask candidates to send updated documents.

  3. Are you sure it's only valid for six months? Do you mind sharing the direct link to that information? I thought it was valid for a year, seeing how long it takes to issue these visas

    https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/policy_updates/CDC_Revisions_to_Visa_Medical_Examinations%20(02-2015).pdf

.... Effective March 1, 2015, all components of the medical examination for visa applicants will be valid for either six months or three months, based on the tuberculosis evaluation....

    https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/immigrant-process/interview/after.html

.....You must arrive and apply for admission in the United States no later than the visa expiration date printed on your visa. An immigrant visa is usually valid for up to six months from the date of issuance unless your medical examination expires sooner, which may make your visa valid for less than six months.......

  4. Hi!!!

After 14 months waiting, today we received an email from the consulate requesting new medical, new police report and a new application!! they are not requesting the passport yet, but knowing they are working on the case makes us so happy!!!! :dancing:(L):dancing:

It's good news for you. They return my passport again and inform me to wait for further AP (2nd phase !!!! )

  5. It will change to ready from AP and back to AP etc... Don't let the wording bother you until you see issued.

Medical exams are only valid for six months, according to travel state website. Is there any chance to have visa in hand even after six months validity of medicals?

  6. I sent them an email two weeks ago and received common reply (it takes up to 8 weeks)

I sent another email before expiry date of my medical and days after my status change to READY "Your case is ready for you to schedule an interview at the U.S. Consulate General in Montreal" !!!!! :ranting:

It seems that I have to wait for an email to do medical exams again and then another interview. Has anybody been in this situation before?

  7. Hi!!

send them an email, maybe they will "Issued" this week and but you have to enter before the expiration. otherwise a new medical and more delay! I know how frustrating this is, My husband has been waiting for 13 months under AP. they never asked for any documents or additional info. we believe the only reason is that he was born in Cuba, even though, He is Canadian Citizen for 15 years, his records from both countries ( Cuba and Canada ) are clean and he has been here more than 20 times visiting before this process. this waiting has been the worse time of my life!! The consulate keeps saying that "We need to wait!" :clock::ranting:

I sent them an email two weeks ago and received common reply (it takes up to 8 weeks)

  8. I'm in the same boat. After being in AP since January, I was finally told to send in my passport on May 31st. It's been 3 weeks now, and despite sending them 4 emails, I still have no response. Don't even know if my passport has been forwarded to my reviewer or it's just sitting in the mail room.

The waiting is driving me crazy!!! My guess is that it depends on the type of visa but also your reviewer. When I sent in my additional documents last time, I was told to wait for 8 weeks. My case was not touched until the last two weeks of that wait period, and then I could see it was worked on almost everyday, until May 31st which was when I got the email asking for passport. I think my reviewer is a procrastinator that likes to do things very last minute. So I guess I shouldn't expect to hear anything until second week of August... :crying::crying::crying:

I have only one week until expiry date of my medical. No update since 6 weeks ago when I sent my passports. It's frustrating. I don't know what happen if the process of visa issuance pass expiry date of my medical !!

  9. Hi,

Five months after interview I was asked to send my passport in mid of May and still waiting. My medical exams expired by the end of month. Do you think that I have to send them an email? Couple of updates since sending documents but still shows AP. Feeling angry

  10. Hello,

I'm actually a bit worried because after five months AP, I was told to send my passport and now after two weeks it's still in AP status. Please share your experience if you are in the same boat. I am not sure how long it takes usually.

    Thanks

  11. Medical and police report are expired but the consulate haven't request anything yet. My congressman sent an inquire and the response was " Still under AP, they need to wait. Nothing is needed at this time".

Now the CEAC status changed to: "EXPIRING SOON"! wanted to died when i saw that because I'been in contact with them every month asking for updates and they always answer the same. already emailed them, waiting for reply now.

Not sure about the car, I remembering seeing some post about it but can't remember what is need it.

I can remember a case similar to your case. He was interviewed after one year and was issued visa two or three months after. Don't worry. "It's slow but sure"

  12. If you are going to bring the car over you will need all the documents from the dealer or brand that there's not any pending recall. But not sure if this is necessary if you are taking the car back.

any ways, here is some info. Hope it might help

    https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/248/~/taking-%2F-bringing-a-car-%2F-vehicle-into-or-out-of-the-u.s.-that-belongs-to-a

Thank your for your quick reply. I have my own car and I don't owe to the dealer. However, I'm not sure if I could drive my own car during crossing the border as new landed immigrant (without filling the application of importing car to US). I cannot find a similar question in the FAQs of above link.

    Hi!!

I'm still waiting too! 1 Year already and nothing!

Did you repeat your medical exams after 6 months and now after one year?!

  13. Hello everyone,

Do you have any idea about crossing the border while driving Canadian plated car especially when you want to land as a new immigrant? I want to land with immigrant visa, stay two weeks, then come back to wind up my works. I appreciate if you know anything about the rules and protocols.

    Thanks

  14. Had my interview on Jan 8th, 2016. Interviewer said I needed two more documents as my birth certificate and passport has different names. Everything else was in order and they won't make this difficult as long as I can gather the documents. Last document was received on 01-Apr-2016.

Kindly note we received your document on April 1st, 2016 and it has been forwarded for review. We ask that applicants allow for 8 weeks of processing time from the day we receive the documents at post. As soon as we have an update on the status of the case we will gladly inform you.

Our CEAC status has been in administrative process since my interview, which was as expected with the missing documents. But now it will be 8 weeks since last document was received. Status showed case was touched on May 16th.

Getting very anxious! How much longer is this going to take?

Anyone else in same boat or had similar experience? What was your wait time?

I'm still in AP since Jan despite having all documents ready. It takes time. Just be patient.

  15. Hi,

I was interviewed by the end of January and now I'm waiting for administrative processing. I gave them my prepared resume during the interview and I was told that it took about 4 weeks. Due to an emergency situation, I asked embassy for sending my passport. Now, I come back to Canada and my status was updated only couple ot times (once I asked for my passsport and also in mid of March). It still shows administrative processeing.

My question is about sending back my passport to embassy. Do I have to it right now or I have to wait until the embassy inform me to do that?

    Thanks

  16. Hi there!!

Every case is different and nobody can predict how long AP will be. they are conducting background checks and it depends a lot where you were born or professional field. I'm the oldest member of this group. so far I've seen a lot of cases in AP. My husband has been waiting for 9 months. even though all his records are clean and he's a Canadian citizen but was born in Cuba. If you read other post about AP you will see some are done in a couple of weeks, others in months, a few in years.
You can request your passport at any time by sending an email to the consulate. They will request it back when they finish with AP.
Wish you a very short time of waiting.
    All the best
    Idy

Thank you so much for your helpful comments.

  17. Hi everybody,

I am a new member in this group. I am holing PR card and had interview on Jan 2xth for Immigrant Visa. They said that there was no problem within my application but I have to wait for AP which takes about three weeks and my passport was collected. Do you have any idea how long it takes in average?

And also, If I need my passport in any emergency situations, how many days it takes until they respond to my email and send my passports back. Please let me know if any of you had the same situation before.

    Thanks
