  1. Hello everyone,

I have posted this in another place here but I do not get adequate answer. Please help me with following questions.

I am sponsoring my mom. I file tax jointly with my husband. My income alone is qualified to sponsor my mom so I do not want to use my husband's income. Please correct me if I am wrong in filing.

    - Part 6 question 2: My current individual income: I put $60,000. It is my income shown on my W-2 of 2016. My job is casino dealer so it is not pretty correct if I use the bi-weekly pay multiply by 26. Is it acceptable to use the last year W2 amount? Or my second option is I will submit 4 most recent months pay stubs, then use the total amount of 4 months multiply by 3 to get the total amount. Is it acceptable?

    - Part 6 question 19: Total income: I put line 22 on 1040 which is $170,000. It is our combined income shown on our 1040 of 2016.

I will include our 3 years 1040 (with all the schedules), my 3 years W-2, my pay stubs, and a letter explain the detailed separate income. Is it enough? Are the schedules needed to be submitted or the 1040 alone is fine? We are not self-employed. And since we did e-filing, the copies of 1040 do not have our signatures. Is it ok or we have to sign now?

Is there any cases that the consulate in Saigon requests my spouse to submit I-864A at the interview although I dont need joint sponsor? And can I mail the AOS/IV packages to NVC prior to paying IV fee and filing DS-260?

Thank you so much for your help.

I filled out I-864 today. I understood that you used the '"Adjusted gross Income" number IF you are referring to a 1040 EZ form. If you are using a regular 1040 (as I am) you should use your total income figure ( see line 7 on your form ), not the adjusted gross income figure at the bottom of the form.

Thanks. Do you know if I can mail the packages prior to paying IV fee and filing DS-260?

I will let the people with more knowledge correct me if am wrong.

    The way you have it filled out is correct;

Part 6. Question 2. Is asking for the Sponsors (ONLY) income. In which case you put down your own. And since you are above the Poverty level it is fine.

Part 6 Question 19 You will put the total income shown on your tax transcripts 1040 as you have stated you did.

Just out of curiosity when you file your taxes there is a line on the 1040 that shows your husband's total income and your total income separately. Does it reflect 60,000 for your total income?

    Hi donddon,

Thanks for the answer. I am not sure which line that shows our income separately. Can you show me the line number please? I just see line 22 Total income which shows our combined income. Thanks.

  5. Hello everyone,

My case is IR5. I filled DS-261 on 4/21, and paid AOS fee on 4/24. I read that I can mail the AOS and IV packages to NVC prior to paying IV fee and filling in DS-260. Is that correct? Please advise.

I filed tax jointly with my husband. My income alone is qualified. I know I need to submit my W2 along with 1040 and pay stubs to prove my income. I would like to ask if I fill I-864 correctly. For Part 6, question 2 "My current individual annual income", I will answer my income. Question 19a, Total Income will be our adjusted gross income listed on 1040. Am I right on both?

    Thank you for your help.

  6. Congrats to all who have become citizens and good luck to those awaiting the interview.

We are still waiting for an inline notification, we have been waiting since 3/7 which is now 3 months 15 days. We called at the end of April and were told by the tier 1 rep that we would have to wait until 7/12 because our field office is still under 5 months time. Anyone else still waiting for the inline notification?

I submitted at Dallas Lockbox, had fingerprinted on March 9 and still waiting for In Line. I called them on June 8 but they told me the same, still under normal time frame. I'll try to call on July 12 as well.
