  1. I am no expert in the subject, but I know I read something about it here on VJ. The NVC or USCIS will not call the court. They want a written letter from the court explaining that no court records exist, of course with official signatures and seals etc. You should also write a letter explaining what your offense was, and state that you "been a good person since this silly thing so many years ago" and that you are a lawful human being now. If you enter words like "no court record" up in top right corner, you will find links to other discussions in the subject. And, don´t stress out, you have time to fix this.

    Good luck!

    Hi Lillapigany,

    Thank you for your reply.

Yes I still have time, but as far as the court is concerned they will not issue such a letter.

Perhaps I need to ask a higher court... I have been thinking about this already.

  2. Hello,

I'm new here and am looking for help please.

My USC wife and I have decided to mover from Ireland to FL.

I have a record from my teens so decided it better to apply from here rather than travel over and try to AOS, and maybe risk deportation.

I got my police certificate, which DOES show the offenses, so I went to the court to ask for the records as stated on the US embassy site.

After some time the court clerk told me that they have NO records of cases from 25years ago, and the best they can do is tell the embassy to phone them to confirm this.

Has anyone been in this position and what happened???

We're going to mail off the i-130 and g-325a with the fees, to Chicago dropbox in the next few days so will be some time before I get to interview stage yet, but would just like to be prepared.
