  1. My husband has an interview there next month--I have a few questions:

    1. Has anybody done only "katib ktaab" and not actual white dress reception yet? Do they ask why? We plan to have one once he gets here.

    2. Do you put your passport in the envelope of info you drop off at the embassy?

    3. My husband is ebn 5alte--do they ask/care about relatedness?

    4. I don't see anything about showing proof of marriage at the interview. Did you take pictures with you?

Please let me know the questions they asked you!! How was your interview?

Do you think I should take the trip to go to the interview with my husband? Does it help?

    1. No they do not ask because they consider kateb ktab is a legal marriage and that is why it is CR1 visa

    2. I do not know yet but you can e-mail the embassy to be sure

    3. They do not and should not care and he does not have to mention it unless they ask. They know the local culture.

    4. He can take any extra proof to the interview for just in case they ask.

From what I read, the interview is usually short ... few minutes .... questions are basic ones like ...

how did you know meet ... who wife does in US ... where will you live ... etc ...

you can read the postings in VJ ......

  2. Question about sending AOS and IV documents via e-mail to NVC (EP) .... NVC website does not seem to require COVER SHEET. It states to place case number in the subject line of the email and keep your attachments below five megabytes (MB).

Does this sound right, just e-mailing the AOS form and documents in an e-mail with case # on subkect line?

    Also under FAQ: "

Create a separate file for each document, including all of its pages and both sides of double-sided documents. Do not include multiple documents in any scan file.

    "

Each scan file must be named as it is created. Choose a file name that includes the following information:

    • Your NVC case number;
    • The full name of the applicant whose document you scanned; and
    • The document name or form number.

    For example:

    • ABC2009123456_John_Doe_DS-3032.pdf
    • ABC2009123456_Jane_Doe_Birth_Certificate.pdf
  3. Hey guys, this is my first time on Visa Journey. I filed I-130 for my spouse who currently resides in India. I sent the package out on Wednesday, Feb 10 and it was signed and picked up from the Chicago lockbox at 3:30 PM on Thursday, Feb 11. I see most people usually get their notification of acceptance and their check cashed usually within a week. I still have not received any notification and the check as not been cashed from my checking account. I know its probably too early to start panicking but I am just concerned. Given that Presidents day was the following Monday, I may experience some delay. Has anyone filed around my date? Anyone else experiencing the same or is it just me? I appreciate all the help.

based on responses from those who have filed to Chicago this month, it is unusual but do not panic yet since the whole process is awaiting game anyway and nothing is consistent with how the USCIS process these. Give it till end of this week then you may call the USCIS early next week.

  4. I have couple of questions regarding the Police Certificate from Jordan (seems there are recent changes from what I read in this thread):

    1) Is it obtained from the Intelligence Department (Mokhabrat) or from Court of Justice (Qadi El-Qudah) or from Civil Department (Ahwal Madaniah) ? or from all the above.

    2) Do we need to submit this document to NVC in the states or take it to the embassy for interview?

    Thank you

  5. sorry to hear about the situation. Please go ahead and send your request for expedite based on "extreme hardship" to USCIS by telling your story with medical reports, birth certificates of your kids and your husband's, and any documents to support the story. You have nothing to loose by doing that. In the case the process is expedited, be prepared to expect reduction by couple of months to 4 months from the average time not immediate processing. You know lower expectation may help in lowering your anxiety I hope. wish you the best!
