  1. My fiancé was approved for his k-1 visa at the Sydney embassy in Australia on August 31. The consular officer said to expect his passport in 1-2 business days. It's been one week since the interview and his status on CEAC still says "ready" for interview... We are really worried about the delay as this isn't typical for the Sydney Embassy. What has been your experience with the Sydney Embassy issuing the visa? And is it unusual for the CEAC website to be infrequently updated?

    Thank you.

  2. I've been on a working holiday visa in Australia for the past year working as a nanny. I haven't filed taxes because my work is cash in hand and I'm a bad person.

Anyways, I know that I will have to have a joint sponsor for my fiancé's affidavit of support. I have two joint sponsors who make well above the 125%.

I have to fill out an affidavit of support, but my question is, would it be wise to say I'm unemployed (there is no evidence that I am working or earning money.) or should I state that I am self employed as a nanny and admit to not filing taxes and use bank statements as evidence rather than tax statements?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

(Filing taxes simply isn't an option because we don't have time to file taxes in Australia and America and get a tax return before the affidavit of support is required)

  3. Via our package tracking number we saw that our i-129f arrived at the Lewisville Lockbox on February 12th. I filled out the G-1145 email and text message form so I expected to get electronic NOA1 pretty quickly its been 21 days and NOTHING! No hardcopy, text or email. Called today and (finally!) was able to talk to a real human person. They said my name wasn't coming up in the system so they haven't even cashed our check... I am getting so worried! Anyone else in the same boat?

  4. UPDATE: it's been 21 days since our package was said to be delivered and we still haven't received a NOA-1. So I called and finally spoke to someone! They checked and told us they didn't see us in the system at all which means they haven't processed our money order... My concern is growing. We are going to get a new I-129f form completed and ready to send for when (if) we hit the 35 day mark without hearing anything and we will just re-file.

  5. Haven't received our NOA1 yet

We sent our I-129F on February 8th via Express Australia Post to this address:

    USCIS

    Attn: I-129F

2501 South State Highway 121 Business

    Suite 400

    Lewisville, TX 75067

Via our package tracking number we saw that it arrived on February 12th. I filled out the G-1145 email and text message form so I expected to get electronic NOA1 pretty quickly... It's been 14 days and we haven't heard anything. I put my mailing address as my address in Melbourne, Australia. And the address my fiancé will be living at upon arrival in the U.S. As my mothers address in the states. Would that make any difference?

We paid the fee via money order so we don't know if they have processed the money yet..

I'm getting really concerned as everything I've read shows people getting NOA1's really quickly.

What should we do? Wait it out a little longer or refile? Am I over anxious and this is normal?

    Thanks in advance!

  6. I am a U.S. Citizen and my boyfriend and I met a year and a half ago while solo traveling Europe. We fell in love and travelled together for 9 months before returning to Australia (where he is from) I am on a working holiday visa but my year down under ends in April.

He wants to be able to attend college and work while in the U.S. And because we plan to get married at some point he obviously wants to immigrate.

Our major concern is, we don't want to be forced to separate durning the processing time.

We have been pondering options and every time we think we figured out a good visa route some road block appears. If he comes in on a F-1 visa and we get married at some point while he's on that visa we can just apply for the K-3 and he can stay in the U.S. While that processes. But wouldn't be suspicious to immigration if he came only a few months prior to our marriage? And couldn't they deny our k-3 visa because of that?

Alternately, if he enters on a K-1 wouldn't he have to leave after the wedding while we apply for the K-3 visa?

Lastly, he could enroll in university in Australia and study by extension and come to the U.S. On a J-1 visa and durning his year in America we could marry and apply for a AOS and K-3 visa.

I guess I'm just looking for input for someone who was in a similar position as we are and what you think our best option is for a GC without being separated.

Thanks so much in advance for all your thoughtful replies!
