  1. That's normal , it will then change to card was mailed , then card was delivered to you . Btw , when it changes to card was mailed you manly get a tracking number , I didn't get any until it changed to card was delivered . Congrats!

Servcie request I believe, we put in one on Thursday on USCIS website. We were considering infopass if nothing was done after a week

On another note, card status changed from Card ordered to case approve, is that normal??

  2. Thanks for the info. So can I still claim to a be permanent resident, while I am say applying for jobs, in spite of having a conditional GC?

Yes you can , the conditional greencard is only issued if you have been married for less than two years. The removal of condition is kind of like a follow up to check if you are still married and everything. Yes , you are a permanent resident and are eligible for everything that a person with a 10 year one is eligible for.

  3. Thanks TabeaK and themartinez. I will just try and be patient then. :-)

This news of receiving RFE really sucks. I really hope they don't want 2015 tax returns of my I-864 co-sponsor. My mother-in-law (the co-sponsor) tends to file taxesarrow-10x10.png at the very last moment, and I donno how in the world I can make her file taxes a bit early, if I need to.

From what I have heard and gathered, 2015 tax documents are only required if you file after April 16th,someone correct me if I am wrong . Also I just noticed that they updated the poverty guidline figures on march 1st , have also heard that as long as you filled before march 1st, you are adjudicated under the previous figures. Any one with some knowledge or info on that?

  4. Hi everyone! Good luck on your journey!

I have a question about name changes for tax filing. I applied for an adjustment of status early January. My husband and I got married in October, I am an F1 student and I usually file taxes. This year my husband and I want to file jointly. Only problem is my SSN is in my maiden name. Is it true that I won't be able to file jointly until my maiden name is changed on the SS card? And does changing the name on my SS card require proof of citizenship/ permanent residency? Will I have to wait for a decision on adjustment of status before filing taxes?

    Sydneec,

According to the IRS website , You can elect "married filing jointly" filing status without changing your name with the Social Security Administration. You can find that info on their FAQ page; here is the link https://www.irs.gov/Help-&-Resources/Tools-&-FAQs/FAQs-for-Individuals/Frequently-Asked-Tax-Questions-&-Answers/IRS-Procedures/Name-Changes-&-Social-Security-Number-Matching-Issues/Name-Changes-&-Social-Security-Number-Matching-Issues-1

Also, to change the name on your SS card , you only need to show the marriage license and your ID .

  5. Hi All - I just joined this thread. My wife and I sent our AOS package by FedEx last Wednesday and received in Chicago on Thursday 2/11. Our check cleared the back yesterday and we also received the text and email notification acknowledging receipt by USCIS.

We filed I-485, I-131 and I-765 together. My question is, should we have received a case number for each of the 3 or just one for all 3? We only received one MSCxxxx case number and I was thinking there should be one for each.

Lastly, I've always been confused what the NOA1 date should be. Is it the date that is in the email confirmation that the case was received, in our case it's 2/16. Or, is it the date that is printed on the hardcopy i-797?

Good luck to all and let's hope all of our AOS's go quickly and smoothly.

You should receive 3 case numbers for each filing . In my case the I-485 was MSCxxxxxxxxx5 , the I-131 was MSCxxxxxxxxx6 and the I-765 was MSCxxxxxxxxx7. Also, you should receive 3 separate NOAs in the mail with different case numbers as previously stated. If i'm not wrong NOA1 is when your application was received and entered into the system. Someone correct me if i'm wrong.

  6. I understand that biometrics is next. How does that work... do we wait for an e-mail? Do they send a letter by mail alerting you to your date? Does anyone know how soon after the NOA1 this should be arriving?

Yes, Biometrics are next. You will receive a letter in the mail. You wont receive any e-notification, online status will only state, " we have received your fingerprint fee". So keep an eye on the mail.
