  1. Folks,

Got a quick question. My spouse is planning to visit India in August and wants to take our one year old daughter so that her mother can look after her for couple of months. My spouse will return to the US after a month, leaving our daughter in India with her mother. Her mother (who has a 10 year US visiting visa) will bring our daughter back to the US after couple of months.

My spouse is an Indian with green card and our daughter is a us citizen.

My question is..how do I go about doing it? What options do I have? Any information would be very helpful.

  2. Thanks Jomo!

How many affidavit did you send?

    2. I have known XXXXX since April 1986. We met while working together at Dragonette, Inc.

    3. My husband, XXXXX, and I regularly socialize with Mindy and Vincent. We enjoy meeting them for lunch or dinner in Chicago’s western suburbs. It is always a treat to watch Vincent try new foods and learn about other cultures via some of the ethnic restaurants we’ve visited. I admire Mindy for her efforts to acclimate Vincent to his new life in the United States. She explains foods and customs that are unfamiliar to him, and reminds him to slow down when he speaks. Vincent’s enthusiasm for his life with Mindy is delightful, but the more excited he gets, the faster he speaks.

    4. Vincent enjoys talking about his job experiences. It is obvious when talking to him that he is a proud man and a hard worker. He takes his work seriously and wants to continue to make a good life for himself and his wife.

    5. Mindy told me about her relationship with Vincent four years ago. I’ve know her for a long time and it was apparent that Vincent was very special to her. In 22 years, I’ve socialized with Mindy a lot, but our best time together was at her engagement party. I was thrilled that my good friend had found the love of her life in Vincent. He was just as excited about their pending marriage as she was. The complement each other and together make a great team.

    5. Mindy and Vincent have spent time with me and my husband and our four children while visiting us here in California and while we visited family in Chicago. My husband and my children are all very fond of Vincent. He treats my sister with love and respect. My children think he is funny, entertaining and they love the way he speaks. Vincent has taken my children fishing and played games with them and shared stories of his country with them. He is truly a wonderful addition to our family.

  3. Folks,

Got a quick question. My wife got her CR1 green card last year (nov/2006). The green card has her maiden name; i think it may be b/c her passport has her maiden name.

Her passport does certify that she is married and that her name has changed. But since the passport didn't expire, the passport authority couldn't iisue a new passport with her married name in the front page. As a result the front page of the passport still has her maiden name.

When do you think would be the best time to change the name in the green card to her married name? The CR1 removal of conditions will be done sometime in august (2008) and her passport expires in 2010. Do you think we should wait till we remove the CR1 conditions?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks,

    john

  4. Folks,

My wife, got here on 11/17/2006 with a CR1 visa. However, she has her maiden name in the passport and green card which she got yesterday. Consequently we had to take the Social Security card with the maiden name.

Would it be advisable to change her name to the married name on her green card and ssn before the conditions are removed? please advise us as to what has to be done.

    thank you

    john

  5. Hi Folks,

Got a quick question... my wife came to the US on 11/17/2006 with a CR1 visa. She got her green card today in the mail and we noticed that the expiration date on the card states 11/17/2008. I understand that we need to file I-751 during the last 90 days before the expiration date.

Would it be a problem if we send in the I-751 form before the 90 day starts? Also, what is this Biometric test appointment that is sent after the I-751 form is accepted? What follows after the test?

I would greatly appreciate if someone could give us an ideas about the 'condition removal' procedure.

    thanks

    john

  6. Sure, if you have the tracking number that is on the package.

    Go here: http://www.bluedart.com/htotrack.html

But the consulate does not give out the tracking number! That's the problem.

How long has it been, if you suspect it was lost, perhaps contact the consulate. Looks like blue dart has no way to track by reference just the number on the package.

they said 5 days. we had the interview on oct 26th.

    thanks yuandan

Mine didnt leave NVC until 4 days after the automated system stated it had been sent to consulate, so dont worry too much, it will show up. To check DHL there is various things you can use. As well as 'expedite iv section', also try 'correspondance'. NIV is for nonimmigrant visas.

    Aussie,

Thank you for your help. I checked DHL using 'correspondence' as the tracking reference and i found that there were couple of doucments that were shipped to madras since August 23rd. I'm hoping ours will be among them.

ONce again thank you for your help. You have been a wonderful help for all of us. Sincere thanks!

    john

  8. Folks,

I called up NVC yesterday and they said that my case was sent to Chennai/Madras on Aug 23rd. I tried tracking the shipment using 'expedite iv section' as the tracking reference. I couldn't find anything. But i found one shipment ,to madras/chennai, when i used 'expedite niv section' as the tracking reference.

From what i read from the previous post, the tracking reference 'expedite iv section' should give you all the immigrant visas and 'expedite niv section' should give you all the non immigrant visas. Am i wrong?

Ours is a CR1 visa and since it's an immigrant visa, i was hoping to find it under 'expedite iv section'. Could it be that the shipment i saw under 'expedite niv section' is not actually ours? should i call up nvc ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks

  9. Folks,

Guess what i called up NVC this morning and the automated system said that some documents were missing! Well, since i couldn't control my worry, i decided to call them right away. I'm guessing that i may have been their first caller; i called them exactly at 7:29 am!!!!!!!

I spoke to a live person and guess what, the RFE message on the automated system was a false one! Just like Pj situation! Completion of the I-864 generated a search for the DS 230 and that resulted in a false RFE message. God...that's a big relief.

Thought i should let you guys know. Also, i didn't use James' Shortcut , but still got that false RFE.

    john

  10. But Pj, you said that your DS 230 was received on 7-10-06 by the NVC. So how come they said that they never received it!

so has your case been completed by the NVC ? gash, if it id, NVC took more than 4 weeks to review it!!

Plz do let us know. Thanks

    john

Finally got through to the real person a while ago, man that 603-334-0700 number has been busy today.

I asked if she could tell me more about the RFE and she asked, "What is an RFE?" :help: Not a very confidence building reply. However, after a brief sound of computer tapping, she said that yes an RFE had been generated on the 11th because we were missing our DS-230, but that as of today, it has arrived so we can ignore the RFE. I asked her to repeat it all and got the information the the I-864 had been reviewed and entered as complete, (not approved that will happen at the embassy?) The action of the I-864 being completed had generated a search for the DS-230 and the RFE is for that document. Then she said that the DS-230 has been entered as being received today. :star:

This is good new, especially regards the completedness of the AOS, but I shall be calling back in a little while and see if I get the same information and again I try tomorrow. Threes the charm. I'll also call back the IVR tomorrow and see if it has update for Tuesday.

This sounds exactly like the situation mentioned in Jame's shortcuts and I am hoping that it is indeed the problem in this case.

Excerpt from James shortcuts: ....it won't hurt to get your I-864 in early. (The early completion of it's review will, however, generate an odd kind of RFE-- you will hear the IVR tell you that "some documents are missing or incomplete" and that a "checklist" has been sent. This just means they haven't received your DS-230.)

The IVR certainly says some documents are missing or incomplete, but says RFE not checklist.

So there ya go. If the RFE explanation changes I'll update. Thanks again for support. Spouse and I really would be at our whits end if it weren't for all the information and kindness shared on VJ. (F)(F)

  11. Hi Folks,

does anyone know how long it will take for the chennai consulate to sent packet 4/3, once they receive the completed CR1 case from the NVC. Also, how long would it be before the chennai consulate call for an interview once they receive the completed packet4/3 from the beneficiary?

Anybody who has had experience with chennai consulate for CR1 visa, please do let us know. would greatly appreciate your help.

  13. Hi All,

I got my IV bill yesterday 7/5 & i'll be sending it today 7/6. As far as the DS230 is concerned, i had my spouse print out the form in india. She signed it and sent it over to me. I've it with me now. What i'm concerned about is that on the IV bill they say that we shouldn't use any downloaded computer forms. That had me thinking!

Also, the paper quality of the DS 230 form that my wife printed out in india is a little different from what we get here. So would that be a concern? I know the question may sound a little wierd. I just want to be extra careful with all this b/c i don't want to delay anything!

    plz help.

    thanks

    john

  14. Hi Mich,

how y'all doing up there! Thanks for that detailed reply. Like you mentioned i'll concentrate on speeding up things on the right hand side; ie, the DS 3032, IV bill etc.

Now, was this the Return address for your AOS Fee Bill:

    National Visa Center

    P.0.Box 790135

    St. Louis, MO 63179-0135

I'll keep you posted about what's happening. So according to what you said, NVC could most probably generate my DS3032 & AOS bill by next week? They assigned the case number on 6/7/06.

    thanks

    john

    Mich,

So you didn't send the AOS Fee Bill as soon as they were generated! Well i guess i'll also wait. Don't want to delay anything b/c of my stupidity! So did you get any info on that zipcode and po box change for the AOS Fee bill ?

    john

yeah, the message was different. it gave me the date that they were generated (which wasn't the date on the AoS Fee Bill). I would wait at least until they've been generated. I'm pretty sure that's what's recommended even in all the timesavers - that you don't send them forms that they haven't generated yet. it's probably way too early for you to send them yet. you'll note in my sig that mine weren't even generated until a week after i got my case number. also, i noticed that the PO box and zip code for my AoS Fee Bill were different than that in the document in the timesavers thread. so they might have changed something. not sure. i'm going to post over there to see if anyone else has seen anything similar. stay on top of things, but don't :clock: ttyl,

    mich

Today (6/8/2006) NVC assigned a case number for my I-130 application. Thank god!

Well, my question is about the automated system response. The system says something like this:

" NVC has assigned a case number: XXXXXXXXXXX. It will take 6 to 7 weeks for the beneficiary to receive the DS3032 form ...."

Will it be safe to send in the signed DS3032 form now? The system doesn't say anything about the AOS Fee Bill. Can i send the AOS Fee bill now or should wait? How can i get some information on the AOS Fee bill?

    Plz help.

    thanks

    john

so mich what you are saying is that once NVC generates DS 3032 & AOS Fee bill, the automated system will actually mention it? So it's going to be a different message from what i heard before.

    thanks

    john
