    It would depend on how the "continuous residency" was before filing the N-400, not after.  For example if her field office was Seattle, the delay could be almost 2 years.

    That I know, but I remember clearly at my own interview that the officer asked me if there was anything for me to update, such as jobs and addresses. Therefore, why would the officer approve me if I had I’d abandoned my residence in the U.S... I pretty much don’t even qualify to be a Permanent Resident at that point, no?

  2. I saw a video clip of her interview on Kelly & Ryan from about a month ago, and apparently she went back to New York in August from Canada to become a U.S. citizen, so now she has triple citizenship of the U.K., Canada, and the U.S.

    This wouldn't be a big news for anyone except that I know for a fact that she's been openly living on Vancouver Island in Canada since 2014. I know that the article says that she didn't sell her New York residence until recently, but in the infamous 2017 Piers Morgan interview where she blasted Sarah Jessica Parker, she mentioned again that ever since the series was over she spent most of her time outside of New York, and more recently she was in Canada with her family when her brother died, and in the same Kelly & Ryan interview, she also said she was in Canada for the most part of the Pandemic till she had to come back to the U.S. for the citizenship test and ceremony.

    I loved Samatha from Sex and the City, so this not about hating on her; I truly wants to know how can someone in her situation not only can keep her Green Card while living abroad  high profile, but also qualify to naturalize.

    I can't believe this thread is still on top; it must be really frustrating for everyone who hasn't been naturalized yet...

    I just have a quick question: I became a U.S. citizen in May, got my passport, and have since traveled to Canada once... Nevertheless, I still keep receiving automatic e-mails from USCIS that are titled "Your Case Is Still Being Reviewed." They always came around 4:15am every other Tuesday. I received the first one the day of my naturalization ceremony.

    It's probably just another bug of ELIS, but I'm wondering if this has happened to anyone else, and if anyone thinks I should contact USCIS about it. Thanks.

    P.S.

    1. In between these e-mails, I received a status-change notification that says my case has been closed (it has changed back to "interview scheduled" with their latest website update);

    2. For a while, every time I log onto my USCIS account, I receive a status-change e-mail when there's no change;

    3. If I use USCIS home page's case status look-up, it just says "approved..."

    If I _am_ meant to be there, of course they'll have my certificate. My concern is that I simply haven't received the letter in a timely manner because of the short window of time, not that I'm not supposed to be there and I'm trying to get in early or something. I don't want to miss an appointment I'm supposed to be at, which is was wondering about showing up and asking at the door.

    I don't have time to infopass before Wednesday morning. San Francisco books appointments 2 weeks out.

    You're an IOE filer; you should be able to download the first page of the letter online, while the reverse side is generic. Google the number of the form online, find a PDF copy of the reverse side with the same edition date, then combine your first page and the generic reverse side into one PDF file. Finally, print the file on both side of the paper. Problem solved.

  6. Naturalized as a U.S. citizen on May 23; passport application submitted on May 25.

  7. Sorry about the late update, but I had my interview at the San Fernando Valley office in L.A. on May 9, and my oath ceremony is scheduled on May 23 at Los Angeles Convention Center.

    The interview went super smoothly and the officer was very nice and smiled all the way through the process. Two things I was afraid that she'd ask were never an issue. I didn't register with Selective Service, she asked, but once she found out that the failure to register was outside my statutory period, she actually called me smart for applying after the requirement was no longer relevant.

    Before gay marriage was available in late June 2013, I had to apply for asylum to stay with my then boyfriend, now husband. I was actually approved in late May, and then we got married in early July to apply for marriage Green Card. After getting my marriage Green Card, I've returned to China twice. Nevertheless, the officer didn't even mention asylum or question my 2 short China trips even though the files were certainly on her desk.

    Anyway, good luck to everyone that has yet to attend the interview!

  8. PD: August 15, 2016

    Field Office: San Fernando Valley/Chatsworth, CA

    I just got a text/e-mail notification that says my interview has been scheduled!

    Since I wasn't able to submit an e-request online yet, I had Senator Diane Feinstein's office submit a case inquiry for me last month. Her staff member confirmed that they sent the inquiry, but I haven't received the result, so as usual, we don't know if it's the inquiry that's triggered the interview scheduling.

    @phunkyvida Thank you very much !

    Does any one know that if "changing jobs" before the Interview, could raise a red flag ? or am I being too paranoid ?

    That's not a big deal, with their processing efficiency, I'm sure a lot of people do change jobs in between, but since you're technically revising the application, definitely bring some of the latest pay stubs with you as proof.

    What about on march? Is there a possibility that they will give us interview notice

    Good news!

    Remember USCIS' time frame update error last week that changed everything to July 28? I told the person I know on Trackitt (whose PD is 7/12) to take advantage of the error and file an e-request/case inquiry, which was successful. It may be a coincidence, but he got an online update yesterday that says his interview was scheduled!

    Therefore, if they can maintain the same speed, we may have our notices in about another month or so. My PD is August 15.

  11. 6 minutes ago, ChristianZane said:

    Perhaps a therapist is a better bet than this forum for your issues with authority, but I'm just telling you what they told me.  You've done a lot of complaining and I've done nothing and we're still both in same boat: no approval as of yet.  But good luck to you we should see some movement in the coming weeks, signing off from this thread....

    Well actually, I was the one that answered the question posed by someone else; I suggest the route via senator's office, but I overall give 3 choices. You're the one that hijacked the discussion by implying my overreaction... I always think people who speak unnecessarily to show their importance need more counseling...

  12. This discussion is getting pointless; we obviously have a personality difference. You're comfortable with following authorities' rules, while I'd like to question them when the rules don't make sense. I called USCIS 3 times, and got told the "as of" date doesn't matter, which is obviously BS.

    If as of December 31, they have been approving people who filed around May 29, then people who filed around July 12 should have received an interview notice by now.

    I've received responses to inquiries twice now when my cases are "within" the 2.5-month-off time frame update: once during Removal of Condition when a Level 1(?) CSR just did it without asking about filing date, and once by accident via congressman's office. Therefore, I'm telling you, you don't have to wait for the update for an inquiry, but if you like to wait, it's fine, just please don't imply that people who question the authority are simply over-reacting.

  13. 21 minutes ago, ChristianZane said:

    Ah ok well I'm a bit confused, you say your PD is August 15, according to the official USCIS processing times the Los Angeles office is processing applications in 6 months and 18 days (the Valley is longer), your application has been in queue for six months and less than a week so I'm not sure how any request of a Senator or congress person would receive any attention, my PD is before yours and I have no intention of taking any such action until my case falls out of the official processing times, but I guess it won't hurt other than taking up your time, since we are some lockbox, same office and almost same PD I'll be curious to see who gets a notification first! :)

    First, we aren't even sure what the processing time frame even means: do they mean they just schedule an interview for someone who filed on that date? Do they mean they've interviewed that person? Or they've approved that person?

    If anything, we can agree that person I know on Trackitt should have gotten an interview notice, right? It's because the "update" is always 2.5 months off the current month. By the time you see our month on that update, our cases have been off track for 2.5 months.

    USCIS is infamously inefficient. Case inquiries are not about what we can get from them; it's more about that as paying customers, we want politicians to know that we're not happy with the services of this federal agency funded largely by immigrants.

  14. 4 minutes ago, ChristianZane said:

    I think a Senator's office has more important things to do then expedite an N400 application a few weeks off reported processing times, I can imagine 2-3 months might be more sympathetic to them but I think any requests will fall on deaf ears unfortunately unless it's a medical issue etc.

    If you look at CA senator Diane Feinstein's website, "Help with CaseWork" is listed 2nd under constituent service; it actually explains that helping constituents with issues regarding federal agencies is one of the most important functions of a senator's office, and they have other staff members that are dedicated to different agencies.

    What you're asking is not an expedite request (most people won't qualify anyway) but a case inquiry that can be as easy as an internal e-mail away for them. I've contacted my congressman's office for an expedite request just to try; I didn't qualify obviously, but they did an inquiry for me and they were very prompt about it.

    Still waiting for the notice of interview.. its been 6 months.. what do we need to do???

    Today USCIS first recovered the time frame update before the error, and then they released the new updates.

    As of December 31, San Fernando Valley officer is processing N-400 cases filed around May 29, so if they can maintain that speed, they should be working on cases filed around July 29 as of end of this month.

    Unfortunately, they probably didn't maintain the speed, because someone on Trackitt who filed July 12 has yet to receive the interview notice.

    I'm not sure if you've read my immediate previous post, but you can file a case inquiry if you want, it's just that USCIS will not willingly help you to send the inquiry at the moment because the time frame update hasn't mention our month yet. You can:

    1) Ask your senator or congressman's office to inquire for you;

    2) Call USCIS customer service and request a Level 2 agent (transfer or call-back);

    3) Set up an Infopass appointment at the field office.

    2 & 3 will take time from your work, while the info you can get from an Infopass appointment can be extremely unpredictable if not mostly useless. That's why I strongly suggest #1.

    Any updates for the august 2016 filers?? Thanks

    The latest time frame update on February 17 was an error: all form types at all offices have been changed to July 28. USCIS has yet to correct the webpage. Let's assume that the correct update should be exactly one month past the previous one, which would be: As of December 31, San Fernando Valley office was processing N-400 cases filed around June 11. That means, they should be processing August cases about now, but apparently, not quite.

    Normally when most cases go beyond 6 months, it can honor a case inquiry, but you wouldn't be able to file an e-request because that portal won't be open for our cases until the official time frame update mentions our month, nor will level 1 customer service help you. Therefore, I chose to ask my senator's office to do an inquiry for me. I sent the request by mail last Friday, and I'm still waiting for a response.

    Just checked the processing times for my FO ( Santa Ana, CA) and they updated the page today, they are now processing July 28th !!! , I'm just hoping they keep advancing fast to get an interview ASAP !

    I got a question in case any one can provide some opinion:

    My wife is currently on a OPT from an F1 ( student visa), we've been married for 4+ years and we have waited to submit her petition until I become a US Citizen. Everything was going according to plan, until this whole IOE fiasco happened.  Her OPT expires in June of this year and making numbers if I were to become a citizen by say April and then right away submit her paperwork, we wouldn't be getting a Green Card before the OPT expires. Would her status be an issue at the time since I would be a USC ? Could I do something now that I'm getting closer to becoming a USC ?

    Thanks in advance (^_^)/

    First, I'm going to tell you the unfortunate news that the latest time frame update is an error: if you check any other offices even including the service centers, you'd see the processing time for all form types have been changed to July 28... Someone called USCIS, and they will correct the webpage early next week.

    for your wife, when will her OPT expire? If you can't be naturalized by April, can she extend her OPT based on the STEM students rule? If it can't be extended, she does have a grace period after OPT's expiration, but it's only 60 days--that I know for sure.

    Nevertheless, extending her legal status shouldn't be too hard, if she's working on OPT right now, she wouldn't be able to work after the expiration, and getting another EAD based on pending AOS takes time, so she might lose her current job.

    My biometric appointment was on Sept 7th 2016.

    Can someone tell me what happened to my case? I haven't received any RFE or interview notice so far.

    Thanks in advance.

    This is actually the "glitch" status change: it happened when you're placed in line for interview. The real status change will indicate the notice has been MAILED. My account has been in this status for months...

    My husband also filed n400 application last august.. and still waiting for the interview schedule.. should we call  to follow up??

    Hi, sorry about the late reply. According to USCIS' Processing Time webpage, as of November 30, they were still processing cases filed around May 11, which means if they have maintained the same speed, they're only processing cases filed around July 11 at the moment. We should probably just wait till end of February before following up.

  20. 5. Remove the "Quote Coding" at the top and bottom of the list.

    Guys, when you edit the timeline, please closely follow the instruction. If you don't remove the "quote" coding, then when the next person attempts to edit the timeline correctly, whatever you've entered will need to be redone on top of the immediate previous correct timeline. Yes, people can always copy and paste from your incorrectly done timeline, but then the font will be messed up, which is even more time-consuming to fix.

    Thanks.
