Hi, I found this article that might help you.

    https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/family/family-preference.html#2

Is Residence in the U.S. Required for the U.S. Sponsor?

Yes. As a U.S. sponsor/petitioner, you must maintain your principal residence (also called domicile) in the United States, which is where you plan to live for the foreseeable future. Living in the U.S. is required for a U.S. sponsor to file the Affidavit of Support, with few exceptions. To learn more, review the Affidavit of Support (I-864 or I-864EZ) Instructions.

I'm not really sure how your residency will change if you're only going to Europe to study, but I'm guessing not. So I don't think it will matter. But to be on the safe side, you can call USCIS to verify. :)

Thank you! Do you know how to contact them the fastest way?

  2. Done. I had my citizenship today in San Diego. I couldn't ask for a better experience. My officer was a young American man, he was very polite and made me feel relaxed. While siting in the waiting area I've seen other officers coming in/out and they were older and Philippino/ Vietnamese/ Mexican race. They looked very angry and people that were leaving their offices looked stressed. I am saying that just because I've got a feeling that these officers in a past probably also immigrated and now acting weird. Back to my experience.

15 minutes interview and I am waiting for my Oath Ceremony, the officer promised me the end of July. He was also very kind helping me with my petition of changing my first name. I know I am almost the last one in this thread getting citizenship, but still wanted to share my excitement with you.

Congratulations! I had my interview in SD and unfortunately I was one of those poor soul who got interviewed by the Filipino officer. I did came out of that interview feeling defeated.

  3. I had my citizenship interview today, but even though I passed the test I still need to submit more documents (N-14), and my experience was extremely unpleasant.

My officer was so rude and I just felt so humiliated all throughout, he was grumbling throughout the interview, and when I asked him to repeat his question he threw a louder grunt and say the words one-by-one.

I have no complains about the additional documents he's asking. Their records showed that I exited the US and came back a year later, which is not true based on the documents I am submitting, but the entire experience was so negative it got me so disappointed and humiliated.

  4. Hello guys!

I called customer service about my issue and this is what I got. On May 23rd I got an update that my interview was scheduled and I should get a notice by mail. According to the automated message before I spoke to the customer service I should call them if I have not received the notice in 30 days, but when I spoke to the customer service rep, he said they will mail it in 30 days. I tried calling them again and got a different rep who told me they will update the online status once they SENT the notice.

Did any of you guys received a notice that the interview letter was sent?

    Best

Also, can anyone update my status? Thank you!

    05/23: Interview was scheduled

    05/03: Scheduling interview

    04/27: Fingerprint

  5. You'll get a letter when you are actually scheduled for an interview... that hasn't happened yet. At this point you're inline for an interview to be eventually scheduled. When you get the update about the interview being scheduled, you should get a letter within about a week.

"On May 23, 2016, we scheduled an interview for your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization , Receipt Number NBC*. We will mail you an interview notice. "

That is what is written on the letter. It's been two weeks and I am worried their letter is lost on the mail again.

  6. Just an update:

I got my fingerprint on 04/27. Apparently my first fingerprint notice was lost in the mail somehow. I tried calling them several times but to no avail. When I got my second fingerprint appointment, the letter mentioned that I did not show up on the first one and they automatically rescheduled me. I got the letter less than a week before the biometric appointments. This really scared me.

Also got a notice that I am inline for the interview on 5/23. How long before you guys received the letter in the mail?
