  1. I am a green card holder and my wife i130 has been approved. I know chances of getting visit visa are slim. I was wondering if anybody in this forum has applied for visit visa in such a scenario (ie i130 approved/inprocess) from Pakistan?

  2. I had my interview on the 9th August 2016 at the US consulate Islamabad, the usual routine and was given 221g form with denied mentioned on it.

    i have created this topic to get to know the usual wait time for AP in 2016, as previously the AP average time was almost 6 months to an year,

    whereas in 2016 its average time is 3 to 6 weeks.

    kindly share your cases. thanks.

    I saw your timeline. Your PD is Jan 2014. Why was your interview this late? Your PD has been current for quite a bit - currently its Nov 2014.

  3. I'm including the following in my cover letter:

    "The following documents accompany and support this petition:

    1. A check for the amount of $420.00 to cover the filing fee;

    2. G-1145, E-Notification of Application/Petition Acceptance

    3. Form I-130 Petition for Alien Relative;

    4. Form G-325A for the petitioner, with one photo attached;

    5. Form G-325A for the beneficiary, with one photo attached;

    6. Copy of petitioner’s permanent resident card

    7. Evidence of bonafide marriage:

    a. Copy of marriage registration certificate;

    b. Copy of Form Nikah Nama (translated in ENGLISH)

    c. Copy of Form Nikah Nama (URDU)

    d. Pictures from the marriage ceremony

    e. Statement showing my spouse as beneficiary for 401K account

    f. Whatsapp chat logs evidence continual relationship"

    In pakistan, there is a Nikah Naama (religious document) and a separate marriage certificate issued by the government. Do you think USCIS would understand that or should i make that somehow clearer in the cover letter?

  6. Hello - I am just about to apply I-130 for my wife (she's pakistani and i have a green card). I have the following documents to prove evidence of marriage:

    1. Attested copy of original nikah naama in Urdu

    2. Attested english translation with a statement on the competence of the translator

    3. Attested copy of Marriage certificate from union council

    4. Pictures of nikah ceremony

    Is there anything I'm missing to prove evidence of marriage?

  7. Hello, I have a question.

    I just recently married and need to sponsor my wife. Is it helpful or necessary (immigration wise) for my wife to change her surname? I'd rather personally would like her to keep her original surname just so that all documents (her passport, degree, Birth cert etc) have a consistent name.
