  1. There will definitely be fees associated with the visa, medical, etc, but if his sons name was in his k1 papers and it's within a year from his visa, you guys should follow the guide mentioned above

So that's where I get confused. what is the 1 year for.

I was under the impression that the 1 year meant that I could have him come to the US without having to pay any fees for filling.

From what I saw on that link I would have to file and pay another fee again.

  2. Hey Guys,

I have a few inquiries about a process my husband and I are currently going through.

I applied for a K1 Visa in December for my husband who at the time was still my fiance.

His Interview was on March 22, 2016 in the Embassy in Rio de Janeiro.

On the day of the interview an employee advised him to place his son (5 years old) on the forms.

The employee also said he had 1 year to bring him to the US without having to file and pay a second fee.

The employee also stated that if he had any inquiries to contact the Embassy.

Since then he was approved, came to the US, we got married, and already filled for the AOS.

We are currently waiting for the date of the interview.

Since now we are finally settled we decided to look into bringing his son over.

Now through the USCIS and all the other sources everything points to us applying and paying again.

So I'm asking for some guidance on how to go about this situation.

How do I bring my husband's son to the US to come visit us?

    Thank you for your time!

  3. Hey Guys,

So I'm probably just worrying to much but i do have some doubts!

I applied for my fiance who lives in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

On February 22, 2016 I received the letter from NVC informing me that our case has been sent to the U.S. Consulate in Rio.

It also told us to go on travel.state.gov/k1 and follow the second step.

All we have left to do is the medical exams and the I-134 forms.

Except the medical exam needs the interview date (which we don't have), the Consulate doesn't answer his calls or my e-mails.

Are we suppose to receive a letter in Brazil or here?

Also I'm filling the I-134 for myself and my co-sponsor and sending it to him asap, is their any other financial records I should send.

I just moved back in Dec'15 so all financial statements will have to be my co-sponsors (which is my mother) since I can't declare anything due to not living in the U.S since I was 17.

    Any information is helpful!

    Thanks :)

  4. HI!

I applied for the K1 Visa in December 2015 for my fiancé in Brazil.

I am now on the 2nd Step.

All I need know is to do now is the medical examination and the Evidence of financial support.

The Nonimmigrant Visa for a Fiancé (K-1) on travel.state.gov site says to file the I-134

BUT in the I-134 instruction it states Do not use Form I-134 if the alien whom you are sponsoring is required to have Form I-864 instead.

Someone told me I had to file with the I-864 and now I'm confused, How do I know which one two use??

If I choose to use the I-134 all I have to do is send it to him in Brazil and he'll take them in to the interview

Now if I choose the I-864 Where do I end it through?

    Any insight is welcomed!!
