Hi everyone, I was wondering about something. What are your wedding plans omce you got the visa? We are having a hard time deciding how to deal with it. Ideally we would like a wedding with a ceremony and wedding reception, but it's difficult to do that with this visa and especially since it would be best to apply for AOS as soon as possible after entering the US. We are thinking about doing a civil wedding right after I would arrive and then later a bigger party in November. Being a perfectionist and all, this is a though one because I am scared that when my family comes over for the wedding in November, it won't feel the same because officially we would already be married. What are your thoughts on this and what are your plans?
We're going to go ahead and have a real wedding. A couple things: first, I quickly learned that I hate wedding planning and do noooot want a big one! Second, I also know that if I got married at the courthouse and then had a wedding later the wedding wouldn't feel real. (I know this works for a lot of people - it would just bum me out personally) Luckily though, we found these people in my home state that specialize in small weddings and pretty much do all the wedding planning for you AND can take bookings with only a few months notice (so long as you don't have your heart set on a Saturday wedding) AND it's a beautiful place. So we're going that route and it's ridiculously perfect for what we want and our situation with the visa. We want to give people who have to travel several months notice though so the way we're dealing with that is trying to get this visa process over and done with as soon as possible, set the wedding date as soon as he has the visa in hand, and then wait a few months before he actually moves here. We're planning on him moving here around September and getting married in October if the rest of the process goes smoothly!

Was just thinking about how I've pretty much got NVC's hold music memorized by now but tonight was my night and I got the new case number! Felt like a dummy though because he first asked for the applicant and I said my name (I'm the petitioner in the US), ha. I panicked when he started saying something besides the "35 days" script!
-
Fiance called NVC again today and they told us that they already received our case but its not in their system yet. My fiance asked if they have an idea when it will be ready and the NVC person answered "42 days from now." ?
Is that another one of their auto-response? Also, do you guys advice on emailing them for the #, too? If yes, when is the right time to email them for it?
Thanks guys!!!
I think that's just an auto-response - I got the same answer!

Oh yes!...
How far are people??
Who is waiting for NOA2?
Who is waiting for NVC?
Who is waiting for their embassy to get back?
And who is waiting for the interview?
Seems that there are people waiting for it all, would be nice to hear how far people have gotten so far?
Our case got to the NVC today! No case number yet though.. I'll try again Monday.
I'm so eager to get everything scheduled and done because we want to set our wedding date! Everything is going faster than expected so we should be okay to book now, but I'd rather wait to have the visa in hand than book it now and then have something come up that derails us.

AHHHH We got approved!!!! I was just leisurely checking my search on the app of the cases around ours and it took me by surprise seeing "approved" next to our number!
I'm so excited and also feel so unprepared! I had tried to forget about it so I wouldn't worry and just started checking a couple days ago to see if people around here were getting approved yet.
-
My check was cashed today! Woohoo! Just waiting on that official NOA1 now
-
Heres to make you feel better.
I mailed my 11th and they received the 17th.. i havent got my noa1 as well. Im just thinking that the weekend and the holiday made it slow. Im pretty sure we will get ours within this week or hopefully not later than next week
At least we know they're not lost in the mail!
Maybe Monday will be our day. I just can't stop myself from worrying about everything haha.

I am trying to be patient but everyone getting their NOA1's isn't helping!! haha. I mailed my packet on the 10th, delivered on the 12th... still waitiiiiing... it's not a race, I keep telling myself... it's only been a week... a week with a holiday...

I know that you have submitted your paperwork and so the "horse is out of the barn" so to say, but here is the tips that USCIS ask for when assembling your packets and the mailing of your documents. I submit this to help others who are "in the dark" on this subject. Good luck to the both of you.

Now get the phone app if you have already done so and begin following your case numbers from here to Naturalization. It does the work of checking for you. No need to be checking every 30 min as some have a tendency to do which only causes on due stress.

It's amazing how I can obsess over every detail for nearly a month and feel like I've read everything so thoroughly and somehow miss a detail like that right on the USCIS website! ha!
Thank you

That should be alright, if they shared that it means it worked for them.
I didnt put mine in a folder, i just used a binder clip and paper clipped each docs that belongs together.
Did you have any notification if your cheque is cashed? Or if your mail has been receive?
I downloaded an app of my courier where i can track my packet
Goodluck to us!!!! Now the waiting game!
Yeah, theirs got approved so I'm not too worried about it. I looked around the internet a lot and saw lots of different ways of putting it together so I figured it didn't really matter much. I didn't see that people just used simple binder clips until this thread, haha.
I've already started tracking the package and it's on its way. I live just a few hours from Dallas so it should arrive tomorrow or Friday.
Good luck to you too! May we not lose our sanity as we wait!

I mailed in my petition this morning!
I copied someone on youtube and put everything in a big binder with page protectors... and then I just saw someone in this thread said not to do that! So now I feel bad. Too late now!
Anyway, here's to a smooth process... we're hoping for an October wedding!

I feel really silly asking this, but I've searched around and can't find an answer (which means it's probably a non-issue).
I'm finishing up my petition for the K-1 visa and I've included one handwritten letter from each of us and some facebook messages. I know that it's okay to block out personal info, but what about curse words? The two of us are a bit potty-mouthed. Should I go ahead and block out all those instances too? Do they even read the letters in that much detail?
Thanks!

Passed the interview with flying colors!! Now to set a wedding date and buy that one-way plane ticket. It's finally all starting to feel real.
