  1. Hi all,

I am trying to decide if I need a co-sponsor for my adjustment of status paperwork. My salary should be enough, but I only started working recently after graduating from college, so I don't have tax info from before. We used a co-sponsor for the K-1 interview, just to be on the safe side. How closely will they look at this second round of support documents? Do I need to submit co-sponsor paperwork again?

    Thanks everyone!

  2. I am so excited, we have been so frustrated recently. I knew it had to be close, but I was beginning to be afraid to hope... But now we've been approved, and I am totally elated! I really hope the next stages will progress quickly!

Thank you so much to everyone who posts and offers advice here. VJ has been invaluable to me, I would be completely lost without it! I know I'll keep needing your help as I prepare all the financial documents, too. :)

Now I'm looking forward to the next part, and the future with Nastya that waits beyond it...

  3. Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone had any insight about whether it's possible for a K-1 petitioner to get a guest visa to visit the U.S. I'd especially appreciate if anyone who's tried this could let me know if it works. We submitted all our paperwork in June, and are pretty bummed about how long it is going to take. We were hoping to meet up during Christmas/New Year, but I think it will be too hard for me to get away from work. Is there any possibility that they will let my fiancee come from Moscow to visit, even though we have already started the K-1 process? Thanks!

  4. Hello all,

I am wondering what to put down for my fiancee's addresses... should it be the places she has actually lived, or the places that she was registered by the Russian government? There are problems with both, as she has had some gaps in her registration in the past five years, and has needed to change apartments many times. If it's actually where she lived, how important is it to list every single address (and if it's important, can we attach additional sheets?)? Does the address have to be complete, or can it be approximate if she can't remember the specifics? Also, I assume I disregard the line that says asks for her address outside of the U.S., since all her addresses are outside?

I am also curious about what to put for my addresses. Should I put down everything, no matter how temporary? For example, I lived in Moscow for 2 months last summer, and I studied there the year before for 5 months. Do those count?

Sorry for so many questions! I am just really afraid of messing anything up. Thank you everyone for all the great advice available here!

  5. Oh, I just realized that I will need to have her sign her letter of intent and G-325a anyway, so I guess it won't particularly help me to get the photo earlier... I am assuming they require that the documents be originals with a real signature? Speaking of the signature, should my fiancee sign with latin letters (she can write in English but doesn't ever use cursive), or should she use her real signature, which is with Cyrillic characters?

  6. My fiancee and I had a lot of trouble finding a place to meet up, including a disastrous attempt to go to Greece (she was refused a visa, much to everyone's surprise). We've finally settled on Croatia, and are meeting there in a few weeks. She arranged everything through a travel agent in Moscow, because she got a pretty good deal on a package, and also because Russian citizens need to show proof that they have a place to stay in Croatia in order to enter the country. At first she was disappointed to be going to a country that she thinks of as ex-communist (it somehow doesn't seem as cool/exotic to her), but now we're both really excited. Croatia looks wonderful. Also, communication will be easy because many people apparently speak English, and Russian and Croatian are supposed to be similar enough that we will be able to make ourselves understood even if someone doesn't speak English.

Best of luck on your travels, wherever you go!

  7. Hi everyone,

I am just starting the whole ordeal, and I have a question about the passport-style pictures needed for the I-129F. I want to start immediately with filing, but I am wondering how best to get my fiancee's picture here quickly. If she sends it to me by regular mail from Moscow, it will take at least 3 weeks to a month, if it comes at all. On the other hand, express mail will be quite expensive. We are actually going on vacation together in late June, so she could give it to me there, but I would rather get the paperwork moving before July. Is there any way that she can send me a digital photo that I can print out, or has anyone else found a way around this problem? Thank you all so much for your advice! I just found VJ last night, and have been devouring the info here.
