Hi Everyone,

I received my 10 year green card today which marks the end of my immigration journey.

Thank you to everyone that participates in this forum for offering support and letting me know I wasn't alone.

I got the I-551 stamp in the L.A. center last week, I did this after being stuck in name check for over 7 months. After receiving my approval notice I went to an Infopass appointment where I had to beg the officer to stamp my passport because it was possible I had to travel for work before I received my green card. At first he said I must show compelling reason to travel before I get my card, I had no letter from employer/death certificate etc. After I expressed that I am too busy to come back and wait another two hours for an Infopass appointment and that my job was on the line, he obliged and stamped my passport.

So does that mean if I am stuck in this for another 1,5 years, they will automatically send me a permanent card without me having to file to remove conditions?

We have been married for 4 years and just got approved, I will let you know if I get the 10 year card.

Current Status: Notice mailed welcoming the new permanent resident.

On February 27, 2007, we mailed you a notice that we had registered this customer's new permanent resident status. Please follow any instructions on the notice. Your new permanent resident card should be mailed within 60 days following this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later. If you move before you get your new card call customer service. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register.

(19) The FBI's processing of the more than 440,000 residuals has delayed the processing of regular submissions from USCIS. As directed by USCIS specifically, the FBI processes name check requests on a first-in, first-out basis unless USCIS directs that a name check be expedited.

Has anyone found any information pertaining to the success or failure of recent WOM cases?

I am very interested to know what is happening now.

Hi all,

I just got back from my 5th infopass since our interview. It is just a ritual that I go through every 30 days to exhaust all avenues but today I told the officer that I will be filing a writ of mandamus because I need to travel for work. He was a nice guy and proceeded to show me an internal USCIS memo dated December 21 2006 stating that the USCIS will no loger be expediting AOS cases on the bases of mandamus actions filed against them. The memo also stated the that only naturalization cases will be expedited by mandamus.

It seems strange that they have decided not to pay attention to mandamus actions regarding AOS applicants, I thought a court decision was legally binding. Based on these attributes, maybe I should write a memo to myself stating that I will no longer be paying tax. Ha!

What a bunch of knobs, I'm still filing WOM in February.

Hi,

I know it sucks, not that it helps but there are a lot of us going through this BS. If you leave the U.S. while pending you automatically forfeit your application. I have thought many times about leaving the U.S. while the FBI ponders my name check and getting my green card sent to me overseas when it's approved. The main reason I haven't is because if anything goes wrong I am not prepared to start from scratch and do it all over again. You can apply for advance parole if there is a pressing need to travel but unfortunately that is the only option.

Thanks for the posting... very considerate of you.

Did the attorney mention how requesting your own background check is benificial, I'm am going to do it but wondering if it will lead to an FBI drone person putting 2 and 2 together and figuring out they need to complete the USCIS name check, or is it more of a symbolic gesture that an applicant has exhausted all resources.

Hi,
for all those "approved pending checks" - did you receive a white paper at the end of the review explaining security checks are still pending and if you don't hear in 90 days you can email them to inquire? The letter also states "we will monitor the status of your case on a weekly basis and immediately notify you when the security checks are completed and an appt can be scheduled regarding your pending application." Does this mean we'll have to interview again? I could of sworn our AO said that we'll just be notified by mail when it's approved... I should have read this more carefully at the end of the interview last week and clarified with the AO....

We received the same letter, our AO said she will contact us once the "administrative checks were completed".

I think you all whine too much at least you are with your spouse. I would give anything to be in the USA with my husband. Soon 2 years married but not togeather!!! so maybe on this thanksgiving you all should count your blessings. at least you get to carve a turkey togeather and enjoy your familys. Screw this USICS dubage, it dont mean nothing when you have your spouse right there. for us all our holidays and precious moments have been kicked from under us.

Thanks for that - I'll count my blessings while talking to my family on the phone because I won't be going

home this year to see them. Not being able to travel home may not sound too bad but it's sure as hell no blessing.
