  1. Hey everyone,

I am the petitioner. I am filing an 1-864 but it won't count for much as I live abroad with my wife and anyway my job has ended. My parents are the joint sponsors. My question it this. I filed my income with the IRS as Foreign Earned Income. I am on PART 6 of the I-864 where it asks me for "My total income (adjusted gross income for the IRA form 1040EZ) as reported on my federal income tax returns for the most recent three years was-"

I have my tax transcripts for 2015. Let's say my WAGES, TIPS, SALARIES were $30,000 last year in Korea. I paid income tax in Korea and reported everything to the IRS.

    1. Would I write down $30,000 for 2015 because that is what I made? Or would I write down $0 because everything I earned was in Korea? Or is there some line on the tax transcripts that tells me what to write. Everything is either my total income or a 0.

  2. Hey everyone,
My wife and I received packet 3 and are in the process of getting everything together. We aren't able to log in to the DS-260 but we have been told by the consulate site that it is a system error and to just keep moving forward.
The next step in this never ending trek is the I-864. I have a pretty standard situation: I've been living in Korea for 5 years. I filed taxes but all of my income has been made here in Korea so I guess it doesn't count for much. I left my job about a month ago so my regular income is finished.
My parents are my cosponsors (father- I-864, mother- I864A). My wife and I will be living with them until we can afford to live on our own or we start sleeping in a tent in the woods... whichever.

    QUESTIONS:
    1. Would I enter "My current annual income" as $0.00? I assume yes.
    2. This is what is currently throwing me off. The next section is about "Income you are using from any other person who was counted in your household size." My inclination is to just mark this all as zero. However, since we will be moving in with my parents and I am proving domicile at my parents' house, am I supposed to list their incomes here?

    Thanks in advance.

  3. Hey guys,

My wife and I have filed for a CR1 at the Seoul Consulate. We got our Packet 3 with the case number. Excitedly went to the DS260 page and entered the CASE NUMBER and her BIRTHDAY. We got an error message saying that the Case Number and NVC invoice number didn't match. Fine. We didn't go through the NVC so it must be a simple mistake. We called the consulate and reported the problem. They understood. We just got this email saying to enter in her birthday instead of the invoice number. I do not see any obvious place to enter this other than where I already enter her birthday. There are places to enter her case number and birthday but no additional room. Any advice? Consulate is closed for the weekend.

  4. Hello everyone,

New to this whole process and starting paperwork. I will be coming from Korea (I am American) with my new wife (Korean). I have been a teacher here for 5 years. I have money saved but if I am understanding everything correctly my foreign income won't count for much or anything. Also, my job will end when I move back stateside. So, I will need a joint-sponsor,

My joint-sponsors will be my parents who file taxes together. Is this correct:

    I will I-864.

My father will fill out another I-864 and my mother will fill out an I-864a.

    Thanks so much!
