  1. Hi Everyone,

I can apply for citizenship on Monday and I have a question.

I got a red light ticket last month (came in the mail, signed by an officer) which I paid straight away. I know the application asks about crimes, citations etc, so I'm wondering how any of you guys who went through this process highlighted this?

I understand this shouldn't cause any problems for me, but I want to make sure I flag it the right way.

    Thank you.

P.S j was having a hard time with the search function so many apologies if this has been answered recently. Although I am curious for people who've done this under the current administration in any case

  2. Hi Everyone,

I wanted to get your opinion if I'm on track, should get in contact with USCIS and so on.

    Nebraska Service Center

    Received package: 10/23/2018

    Check cashed: 10/26/2018.

    NOA (18 month extension): 11/08/2018

USCIS check status: On October 26, 2018, we accepted the fingerprint fee for your Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence....

In addition, I'm tryin to to confirm my identify with myUSCIS but when I enter my LINxxxxxxx receipt number number it says

We could not find the A-Number and/or DOS Case ID you entered.

    Any advice?

    Thanks!

The letter extends the validity of the green cad by 18 months. So it's the green card's expiration date + 18 months.

Perfect thank you! Assumed as much but wanted to be sure.

hi. it is 18 months from your actual conditional green card expiration date, means if you already expired in your 12 months extension you only have 6 months more,  that what happen to me because I renew my driver's license when my 12 months extension was expired they only gave me 6 month of my driver's license, but I received my green card IR-1 a month after my 12 months extension was expired, good luck.

Good to know about that in case I get another extension on top! Thank you

  4. Thanks for both of your advice on this one so I guess it's safe to include our current drivers license at a minimum.

My only concern was that I only have a couple insurance bills (the last two) which have us at this address and I would just worry they'd ask for additional bills after? Maybe I am over thinking it?

I know technically we should have gotten our own insurance as soon as we moved out last September, the tricky thing is that the car was/is in both my wife and mother in law's names.

  5. Hi Everyone,

I'm putting together my file and I realized that including our drivers licenses may not be so simple as:

    1. We were still on our mother in law's car insurance until August 2018 at our previous address (we moved here Sept 2017)

    2. I only updated the address on my card when I renewed in March 2018

    3. My wife only renewed in August 2018

    4. The first insurance in our names AND our current address was done in August 2018.

I'm worried our laziness, in part due to if anything came to the old address we could pick up in 10 minutes, will cast doubt on my application.

    Any advice?

    Best,

    Richard

    Hi Richard,

:time:so we can try and help you. We have no details as to when you entered the U.S., when you got married, etc We also don't know if you have anything to report. Either way, you may or may not be able to file jointly with your wife. If you were married in 2016, then yes, you are most likely eligible to file jointly. If you don't want to, your wife can file married filing separately or head of household (if applicable).

Thank you for the response and I have updated my timeline with all my information.

Hopefully, that will be visible now to you.

Based on that, what do you think?

    Thank you

  7. Hi everyone,

I just received my 2 year conditional green card (date on the card being January 12th 2017) having gone through the K1 visa and AOS route.

Do I need to complete a tax return now or would my first one be next year? From what I read I think I may not need to do one this time around

Also, whether or not I need to , will this affect my wife's tax return in anyway?

    Many thanks,

    Richard

  8. Hi everyone,

I have a query about my vacination records for when I apply for my Adjustment of Status.

When I had my medical done in the UK in April, I was all up to date apart from a tetanus shot (as my last one was more than ten years prior). They didn't give me the shot at the time as I was feeling unwell and was on antibiotics. I was then given my vacination sheet where she had ticked off everything I have had had done but told to hold on to this as I would need this for the AOS.

A month later I had the tetanus shot at my and I have a print off as proof of this, so I'm now all up to date.

However, I'm not sure whether I would need to see a civil surgeon or not. Or would I send that vacination record in with my doctors print off showing I've had it done?

Could someone help me out on this?

  9. Hi Everyone,

I will be moving to the USA on a K1 visa on June 23rd and will go on my soon to be wife's health insurance once we get married in July.

I have Crohn's so I don't want to have a period where I'm not covered by any form of paid healthcare.

I understand travel insurance would not apply to this period, so could anyone recommend any providers of relevant temporary insurances and in particular one which may provide cheaper insurance for those with pre-existing conditions?

    Many thanks

  10. Hi Everyone,

I need a bit of help.

I received the letter from the London embassy saying I have my interview (yay!). It tells me I need to register the appointment on the ais.usvisa.info/en-gb/iv site (Immigrant visa site) and then pay the MRV fee of $265.

I follow the instructions on what options to pick and it asks me for my Name, passport number etc. and then my DS 260 number. I don't have that of course because the embassy site told me previously to complete the DS 160 online form which I did.

I'm presuming it's fine to leave that field? Or would I put my DS 160 number in. My guess is I leave it blank.

I go to the next page book the courier and pay for the home delivery. I go to continue and then it just says to print off the page showing that my appointment is registered and the address the passport is to go to.

It doesn't ask, or let me, pay the MRV fee anywhere. I know I can pay by phone but I'm wondering if anyone else had similar problems?

    Many thanks,

    Richard

  11. Hi everyone,

I'm filling out my medical questionnaire before I have my medical on Tuesday and I was wondering how to answer the following question:

Have you been investigated or treated for any major illnesses?

I suffer from Crohn's so I'm wondering if that question is a yes or a no. I'm not 100% if this solely means a serious disease which you can catch or whether it would include asthma, MS, or any other long term health conditions?

I have a letter which goes in to detail about my condition and the medication I'm on, so I'm fully prepared.

I'll probably take a back up copy with that section blank just in case but I would appreciate hearing from anyone who either has the answer, or who has the condition and has been through the medical.

    Thanks,

    Richard

  12. Thanks for the reply. We did include a copy of her birth certificate in the pack we sent off (because of her being born in Peru, we included that and her naturization certificate to save having to respond to any RFE's) so I can't see that being a problem, especially as they told us that they corrected the mistake.

I'm just wondering in terms of whether them having to correct this on their system will delay our application in any way?

  13. Hi Everyone,

My fiancé is an American citizen but was born in Peru, so her birth certificate (like most places in the world) followed the dd/mm/yyyy format as opposed to the American mm/dd/yyyy format.

We got out NOA1 on January 5th but we noticed they had made a mistake with her birth date. They either read her birth certificate the wrong way around so they had the month and took that as the day and vice versa, or it was a general typo.

After she contacted them, we received a notice to say that this had been corrected and it was dated 27 January.

I was wondering if anyone has any experience of when something had to be updated on their file, and whether that affected the their time line?

As it stands, the estimate for NOA2 from the CVC is sometime around 15th February so I just wanted to know if I have to temper my expectations!
