My fiance just picked up his K1 visa and envelope of information to bring with him to the US. On the envelope, there is a paper attached to it that says, in Spanish, to make sure he does hand this envelope over to anyone in the Santo Domingo airport, but to make sure if gives it to an immigration official at his Port of Entry in the United States.
Does that mean he can only depart from the Santo Domingo airport on a K1 visa, or can he depart from the airport in Punta Cana?
Has anyone recently received a K1 visa and flown out of the Punta Cana airport when coming to the United States? Was there a problem?
There are no direct flights from Santo Domingo to Chicago, so Punta Cana would be much easier for him to depart from, but I don't want him to have any problems there with the visa.
As has been my experience in the past in dealing with the Dominican Republic, the embassy doesn't answer the phone and it has been days since I have sent an email inquiry to the visa help desk. The lady on the live chat on the computer today also did not know the answer. One would think this would be pretty standard, direct information that would be posted online, but it is not. Please help!
