Good luck for a successful interview. Don't forget to post your experience afterwards.
VERY IMPORTANT!!!!
Double check all the forms online for the latest versions. This is important because my fiance did this, but he met some girls at the embassy who relied on the packet that the embassy sent, and the forms were not accepted. Also, make sure you have 4 letters of intent in all, your original included with the first packet, his original included with the first packet, and updated one with a recent date from both you and from he.
If you can not find the forms online, then use what you have.
Good Luck!

Ditto what Gillian said! All correct and excellent advice!
Good luck!
Remember - they are afraid that you are going to try to get around the system. The more ties to the UK that you have at this point, the better. Anything including doctor's appointments, employer letter, etc. is good. I hope you'll be fine. We never tried, I went back to Ireland for him. That is always the safest.

Hi everyone.
I am looking for some advice regarding the I-864 affadavit of support form. My fiancee is a freelance sound engineer and receives payment for work in cash. He also had some financial problems in the past and owes creditors money. As a consequence of these problems, he does not have a bank account. He also has never filed his taxes. He rents property, and does not have any assets.
We spoke to an accountant, who said there is probably a way to file for last year's taxes. However, I am concerned that one year will not be enough, and that the lack of bank account details and cash-in-hand employment will be a problem.
We have a co-sponser, who meets all the requirements.
If someone has any thoughts on whether my fiance's (pretty poor) financial situation will prove a problem for us when it comes to filling out the I-864 form, or later down the road (such as AOS). I would really appreciate it.
We hired a lawyer, but it seems that people on this site are way more helpful.
Thank you!
Who is the US applicant? You or he? If you, and your affairs are in order, good news. If it is he, I would suggest the following. 1) He must begin to pay taxes and create that record. This will be important for more than a K-1 visa, you both with have to apply for your conditional permanent residency once you get married. Then, you will have to re-apply app 2 years later, and then 10 years later. It never stops, so it's never to early to talk to a qualified accountant and get your affairs in order.
2) Focus on your sponser and use his information. This will be sufficient for now.

For the K3 checklist, you are not suppose to send it along with the DS-156. You only mail the checklist in AFTER you have obtain all the required items on it such as your police certificate and medical exam etc. I imagine it's the same as the K1, so I would not worry about that.
As for your interview date, what consulate are you being interviewed at? The time varies from consulate to consulate.
Remember, that because of the holidays they were closed for several days as well as other UK goverment agencies and services. I wouldn't be surprised if the checklist has only arrived to them now. I would allow at least two more weeks of processing before looking for your interview letter.
Good Luck.
It took about a month for us, and we did it over the holiday time. I know it seems like forever to wait, hang in there.

Congratulations!
We had a long distance relationship after I returned to the U.S. so I used the same kind of evidence. I used 2 examples from each type of evidence. 2 cell phone bills, 2 emails, 2 etc. The more you can do AFTER and DURING the time you were together (airplane tickets, photos, etc.) the better.
Good luck!

A suggestion...
You have a very long road of paperwork ahead of you, and the more consistency you can have, the better it will be for everyone (including you). I'm just now getting ready for our Perm. Residency interview. What I have done is give my parent's address as my permanent address. They just passed on the USCIS letters I got. Then, it doesn't matter where you move or for how long you are there.
Just a suggestion,
Good luck!

First thing of all I would go get a driver's license (no offense to the person who suggested to delay that). The reason you get one is for ID purposes. Your passport works, but it is cumbersome to carry around, and it is too valuable to risk being lost or stolen. You will have to get a new license after I-94 expires, but at least you have a form of ID that's accepted everywhere.
Second, you can apply for the SSN without getting married first, my fiance (now husband) did, and got it, and we got him set up with a bank account immediately. Another reason for the driver's license.
Next, depending on your schedule, go ahead and start gather stuff for AOS, don't put it off.
Last, spend lots and lots of time kissing, making out, ... after all - you're finally together!
Congrats, and have a lovely wedding.
I'll be happy to help with any other questions - just drop a note.

When I sent in my initial AOS, I only had tax information for 2005, as it was too early to have my 2006 taxes filed yet. Then, they sent me a RFE, and again, because taxes were still in process, I couldn't send in the 2006.
I have now gotten my 2006 tax return back, should I send it with a cover letter explaining that this is additional evidence of support, and include a copy of the I-485 request as well, or just wait for them to do something? I can send in all the case numbers, etc.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Thank you so much! It worked - and the good news, they got my evidence.
(I made 2 copies of my RFE package as per VJ advice)

We sent off our AOS, Advance Parole, and EAD request at the same time - March 31, 2007. The checks were cashed, but I can't read what is printed on the back because the bank I use has a poor scanner image. We got no NOAs, but he did get an appointment for Biometrics, and did that.
We don't have a case number, because no NOAs.
What's going on? Any ideas? What should I do next? Any clue, anyone?
Thanks a million!

Hi All,
I just wanted to send out a note of encouragement, it's the hardest wait of your life, but it's worth it. Stay strong!
We've done it successfully, so if you want, email me and I can help to the best of my ability.
Hang in there.

First of all, I want to thank God that we actually got married and he's here with me - I haven't forgotten what it was like in the K-1 process.
Second... AOS frustration.
We sent off the application, but never got a NOA1 - we did get a Request for Initial Evidence, sent that off by the end of the month, and don't have a receipt for that either. So... what do I do now? I am thinking of re-sending the package I sent for the RFE, with a letter explaining that because there was no confirmation of reciept (including the request from the post office for signature and notification) we are re-sending the information. This a good idea?
Thanks for the support, I'm on to the K-1 forum to give my advice to those newbies.

How are you? I'm from Ireland and got my Visa in December. I was really blessed and the whole thing took about 4 months for me! File all the paper at once in one packet. One tip i would give you is get the police report done now as that was the one thing that delayed me. Ant questions at all please post it and i'll look out for it. Whatever you do dont stress, it can take time will long waits but it will go through.

I just went through this last week at the Irish embassy, i had mine typed out and the reason for this is all the other forms like the DS-230 and the 156, when you fill them out on line it goes right into the embassy computers so that you go there they just scan the barcode and all your info comes up. When i was there last friday i got my Visa that day, i'm now in the US. You can get it on the Dublin US embassy website but the best thing to do is go to Google and type USCIS and the forms you want and thay will allow you to type and print them.

WooHoo!!!!!
Had my interview... well it was more like a Q for the Cinema. Got into the office with about 15 other people and had to wait for about 40 mintues. Then i was asked to sign a form and had to wait again. They then called us all one by one, but not into an office, just up to the top of the room, everyone could see and hear us. Went through the forms to make sure everything was okay, mine was thank God (Others weren't and were sent away until they got the paperwork right) Then an American Lady came and asked some questions like "When did you meet" etc. She was happy with my answers so i got the Visa about 30 mintues later. All in all it took about two and a half hours, the experiance itself i found them to be kind of cold and not very friendly but i guess we all have our off days, on other reviews i was told they were really nice so i guess i had one of the off days. But i go my Visa so i'm happy.
Thanks to everyone for their help with mine, i'm really greatful!

How long do you know her? Because if you cant trust her what are you doing marring her? Your only 16 days into your journey for the Visa and you've already got stuff you dont trust her with. I'd rethink the situation before you go any further.

Thanks for the replys guys, its put my mind to rest. After waiting this long i didn't want to mess it up.

The last entry is important - I would suggest getting in touch with an accountant to file that American tax return. Also, a sponser will make everything easier.
