  1. I will be filing for my citizenship this year and will probably become a USC by next year. I know that I can petition for my mother and she can come in a year or so. However, my youngest sister is 12, I understand that my mother can petition for her when she becomes LPR and the process would take around 2-3 years. Since my sister is young and we want her to be with my mom while my mom is applying for her LPR status. I am wondering during this time, is it possible to get a student visa for my sister to study in the US and change status? Will she have to return to the home country for an interview or she could finish the whole process here in US together with my mom?

  2. Thanks you all for your valuable opinions. I do agree with most of you that low paid job is better than no job considering I have no working experience in US.

I am also very concerned about the salary history but I can always tell my next employer the reason why I take this low paid job. Since my husband is working in one of the tech company in Seattle with good paid. Money is not the main problem, the experience working in the US then become an important factor. I guess I would make them a reasonable counteroffer just to show that I want this job but I also find it a bit low. If they still want to take me, then take me. If not, I have to pass.

Thank you all. Have a good evening.

  3. yes. same profession, similar job description, i would say it requires a little bit more responsibility and work load than the one I used to have.

Is what you used to make based on the same type job (similar job description and responsibilities)? My experience has been this: When you take a much lower salary, it becomes more difficult to get back to the salary I previously had. A 60% cut is massive. Personally, I would never take that much of a cut for a job. You have to know your worth.

The job that I am applying is not min wage job. So i don't think it's a green card matter.

Depends on how much you were offered. So, how much?

Most jobs start out at minimum wage, having a green card won't have any effect on that

Take it as a matter of fact gran it with both hands. The American job experience will give you a better advantage in the future. You can always hunt for a better one in your free time.

it's true tho. That is exactly why I hesitate. I have these few days to think about it, they are expecting my answer by Monday.

  4. I had an job interview around 3 weeks ago and completed a brunch of assessment tests and I received an offer today. I am wondering If I should just take it or should wait for another opportunity.

I understand that as a new immigrant, we always start with lower salary but I didnt expect be almost 60% lower than what I used to earn. Can anyone share your view with me if you were me.

  5. You will just be patient and check the USCIS site everyday and check both numbers for i-130 and i-485. After the first NOA on our i-130 and i-485 we only received notices on the i-485.

Good luck to you. God bless.

Thank you. I received my approval for I-130 last week and asking NVC to transfer the file to NBC as I filed I-145 soon after the filing of I-130. I am just hoping I won't have any REF and go straight to interview. finger crossed.

  6. Hello everyone, great news.

On June 22, 2016, we scheduled you for your interview and mailed you an interview notice for Receipt Number MSC1690890520. Your interview is on July 25, 2016. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your interview notice by July 22, 2016, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request a copy of the notice.

I was up at 5:30am and was browsing on the bed, decided to refresh the USCIS app. I was like, I guess there wont be anything, closed the app and then wait..... no, I saw something green. I went back to the app and I saw "CASE WAS APPROVED"! REALLY?!??!?! I couldnt believe it and i showed my husband and he said, yes they approved your Form I-130.
