  1. My fiancée had her K1 visa interview Monday at the Bangkok embassy. She was given a 221(g) and responded by email to their question later that morning. They had her come back in for the second interview on Tuesday,

    They kept her passport and the interviewer said good luck with your visa and you will receive the packet after 10 business days.

    I emailed the embassy for follow up and I got this info from them:

    "Currently, your visa has progressed to the next stage of our visa approval process. The case status means the consular officer believes your case is documentarily qualified for issuance. We caution you that this is not a guarantee of issuance as all applicants need to clear the final stage of background checks. Applicants must refrain from making any irrevocable travel arrangements until they receive the visa package including their passport with the visa inside. It could take a minimum of 10 working days before background checks and a visa package is prepared. Once the visa package is ready, it will be mailed to the applicant at the mailing address indicated on his/her GSS profile. All the original civil documents will be returned to the applicant in this package. We appreciate your patience as your application is completing the final adjudication step."

    I checked the CEAC website and as of 6/8/2016, it says her visa is listed as "ISSUED".

    Anyone see this before? Is this a new change for everyone? because we got a 221g?

    I thought there was a window for EMS that she had to pay to have the visa shipped to her. My girl said there was no such window.

    Confused..............

  3. After getting the case number for the Thailand Embassy, creating and printing out the D-160 while in Thailand last week, my flight left before I could pay the visa fee locally. I came back to the US on the 5/1 and sent the visa fee in via EFT. But, I sent the $265 in US funds not the local currency in Thai baht. The currency difference is $6.56. Stupid mistake!! The bank mgr. even asked me if I wanted to transfer it into local currency but thinking its US Embassy, they'd want US funds.

    I sent the embassy an email with the information and a copy of the EFT form but is the weekend and haven't heard anything back yet.

    I tried to enter the receipt number on the website but its not showing as registered. Its been 5 days but others have posted that it only takes 48 hours to show up.

    Mr. Geenbaum, have you encountered this before? Any thoughts?

    I'll just have to wait till I hear from the embassy.

    Just a follow up, on May 9th, the incorrect fee was returned to my back stating they do not take US funds.

    I resubmitted the fee in Thai baht. And just put me a week behind in shipping the P3 to Bangkok and getting the interview date.

  5. Go to www.dhl.com click Express then Tracking, then Track by Shipper's Reference, and on this page you add your search information. You change the day and month to what you think your package might have left NVC or call NVC to get the date your package had left NVC in route to Manila then go to the DHL website and enter the following information:

    EXAMPLE:

    * Shipper´s Reference : EXP 24 MAR 2011A

    * Date range for shipment - From: 23 - 03 - 2011

    * Date range for shipment - To: 26 - 03 - 2011

    Account Number - Leave this blank

    Shipment Destination: Your Country

    I also found this info if it helps anyone:

    For the NVC:

    K1's are not tracked through the AVR, EVER. They are processed like an immigrant visa, but they are NOT immigrant visas, so they fall into a completely different class of their own. Therefore you need an operator. To get there:

    1-603-334-0700

    Press 2 for Non-Haiti-Related issue (Please note that this will probably change after some time)

    Press 1 for English

    Press 5 for an operator

    For DOS:

    This is where you will be able to find out if your case was received at the Embassy/Consulate. They will not see your case in their system until the NVC has logged it in and applied a case number to it.

    202-485-7600

    Press 1 then 0 for a live operator.
