  1. I believe the real question is how much do you have in the bank right now? Because if you have anything less than $10,000 saved, and are only making poverty level, you cannot afford this. The costs go far beyond the filing fees and once you file, you have a limited amount of time to get everything done. I am far above the poverty line, had quite a bit of money saved up, and it still damn near ran my bank account dry.

Work your butt off, save the money, and then go for it. I understand that you want to hurry to be with her for life, but be smart about it. Save, save, save. I hope this helps!

So I just looked over the remainder of the K1 flowchart with the AoS details. My SO and I got married a week ago, and I just received my SSN in the mail today.

We plan to go and change my name on my SSN to my married name during the week, as we need to receive some marriage documents.

    I have a few questions...

    - I used my maiden name signature on my marriage license, as per what I read online. Do I start signing the AoS documents with my 'new signature'? (My old signature had my maiden name). Obviously because we only got married recently and I have no ID with my new married name, I don't have any documentation with what my new signature would be.

    - How soon should we start the application process for the AoS? I know I should have a joint bank account set up with my husband and stuff, and we can't do that until i get my SSN adjusted.

    - How long should we expect the process to take until the interview + receiving the green card?

    - Will I receive the EAD and travel document BEFORE the green card, or with the green card? Is it possible to get ahold of the travel document sooner?

    - Is there anything I need to do in regards to name change? Or is just my marriage license/certificate enough?

I am not sure if this will apply to you, but my wife was not able to change her SSN to her married name until after she received her green card. Also, I could not add her to my bank account until after she received the green card. As soon as we were married and received the marriage certificate, she started signing everything with her married name. The marriage cert was good enough proof for that.  I-485, Biometrics was signed with her married name.

  3. It is no worries, it could be for something small. Who knows. Like the others have stated, you will find out what you need to do in the letter. Follow the instructions, take it seriously and turn it in quickly. Just a minor speed bump. The whole process is really quick, from initial filing to interview. You will see. It feels like forever when waiting on that NOA2, but it comes and goes so fast.

I did not receive an RFE during the i-129f filing, but did receive two RFE's on the i-864 form during the AOS filing. One was just a completely boneheaded mistake on my part. I filled out the house hold size wrong. I did not read thoroughly. The second one was because I did not submit the IRS Tax Transcripts with the filing. I did not do this for the i-129f and passed, but failed on the i-485. So now I am waiting on the outcome of submitting these corrections to them. Ordering the transcripts are easy BTW, just log on to the IRS website and search Tax Transcripts, go through a couple of questions and they will mail them to you. I received mine in five business days. Easy.

Again, no worries. If you need help, we are here.

  4. OK just giving everyone an update to help you time things out, and or give someone some hope. I received noa2 approval on 2-05-2016, and received the hardcopy on the 13th. Just called today 2-19-2016 to get the case number and was able to get it. The rep told me that it was just entered in, so good timing! The call took 15 minutes to complete. I hope this helps everyone and good luck to all.

  5. Congrats, we've got the same dates and you're the 2nd approval from the 24th.

    still waiting....(crickets chirping).........................:)

Yeah it caught me off guard honestly. I had written this week off and was putting my hopes on next week. I received the email on scienceteacher15's post stating their noa2 approval and then I noticed that I had a notification from the app. It stated case was approved. So just keep your app running on your phone and it will let you know. That notification put the life back into me. I was feeling exhausted and depressed from working 6-7 days a week, now I feel like I just came back from a vacation. Well on to the next, good luck to you.
  6. This is what I'm talking about, spend money on the delivery, track it, become OCD, be obsessive

    Action from you

You have to drive this, the USCIS has thousands of applications daily, make sure you know yours is there

Absolutely correct. One has to be in command of their own fate and not just assume others care about your life. To them, it's just a job, to us it is an amazing life waiting to happen.

Personally, I have met the most amazing woman ever. I have been searching for over ten years for this type of woman, and now that I have her, no amount of red tape or government bureaucrats is going to stop me. She's well educated (RN), magnetic personality, hard working and looks like a model to me. I felt like I knew her my entire life. I knew she was it the first thirty seconds of meeting her in person.

When I receive noa2, the nvc is going to get really sick of me. Starting at about day five, they are going to receive many phone calls from me :D

I've already memorized most of the information on here, and have directed and coached my fiancé on everything I have learned from this site, and everything that she will need to do. Everyone should be doing the same.

    Focus, tenacity, victory.

  7. 17th December? I'm about to send mine off so don't quote me but Christmas and New Years would have definitely halted Visa processing then when they came back last week they would have had a backlog.

I sent mine out on the 15th, two days before the OP and received my NOA1 hardcopy January 4th. The mail ran slower, but it didn't come to a halt. I tracked my package every day from the time I shipped it out to the time it was delivered. That tracking number is critical and should have been treated like a piece of gold.

I would start making phone calls to the shipper and uscis to see if the package can be located, but the OP might just be SOL. All they can do is wait and hope, if the shipper can't track without the number. Good luck to them.

  8. Hello December filers. I just found this post. I mailed out my I-129f on December 15 2015. Received email confirmation from uscis on December 28. I received the noa1 hardcopy on January 4 with a date of December 24.

Just chilling out waiting for the noa2 :) I already have everything else ready to go, just waiting on you California! Looks like they are moving quick so we will be at the finish line in no time.

    Good luck all!

  9. I can't help you really, but I can give you my dates. I shipped my I-129f on 12-15-2015 through USPS Priority 2day from Southern Indiana. I received confirmation of delivery through USPS on 12-21-15. I received email /text confirmation from USCIS on 12-28-15 and my check was cashed on this same date. The hard copy was delivered to me on 1-04-16, with a notice date of 12-24-15.

Without the tracking number, you're really flying blind. With the package being shipped during the Christmas rush, it could have easily been lost in the mail. My delivery was slowed down because of the holidays. Shipped it on a Tuesday with 2day priority, but didn't deliver until the next Monday. Try really hard to get that tracking number.
