  1. Hi Leney,

I would assume the doctors surgery would do this as in most cases there may be a charge like vaccinations for overseas holidays etc. Maybe the receptionist is new. I would try your surgery again and maybe even ask to speak to a doctor. Have you looked on the NHS website or tried NHS 24? I am also in Glasgow and I know mmr was done at the surgery but that was routine for the kids.

  2. Hi,

To be honest, I am sure they are more people on VJ that can give you better answers to your questions, but I know that I don't need (as a USC) a police certificate and I have been here over 13 years. I am the USC, so my children have automatic citizenhip as I am their parent. I would double check the requirements for the kids, but my understanding is that either one parent has to be USC or may, in the future need to become naturalised in order to apply for the kids. I know alot of people on this site petition for the kids visa's at the same time as their partners, but as this is not your situation, I would check carefully. Have you check the embassy website for information?

  3. Thanks.

I have read your post and I think I will just do the three years tax returns even though I can't get my head around the forms!!. I am just outside of Edinburgh, so at least I know if I am stuck, I can go pay them a visit as I have checked their website and they have dedicated hours for tax returns. I am just thankful I stumbled acroos the fact that I need the tax returns. I would rather gather all the info now rather than have a big hiccup later on.

  4. Hi,

I am just about to start processing as well. i am the USC, so it's only my husband that needs the police certificate.

As far as I know the process will not be affected by bad credit apart from bankruptcy if that has been filed, if not it won't be an issue.

Don't think the kids can be dual citizenship as both parent as British.

    Good Luck with your journey!!

    HI everyone!

I'm an USC and my hubby is a UKC but we both live here in the UK. We have started to gather our papers and documents for the I-130 process and we have hit some questions that I can't seem to find the answers for. (and i've been doing alot of reading on this site, :) )

Hoping someone can assist us, thanks.

    1) Do we both have to get a Police Report? (I've been living here 4 years)

    2) My husband has a bad credit history in the UK from a previous divorce, will this affect us at all? Problems with the I864 maybe? or leaving the country?

    3) His young children are NOT coming with us they are staying with there mum, BUT, can we or they apply to receive Dual Citizenship because we are now married and do we apply for that now then?

THANK YOU all so much - I've been trying to find these answers without having to post but I have hit a dead end and I really hope someone can help us.

    Cheers!

    Lisa

    Hi,

Having trawled through numerous websites, I am finally about to submit my paperwork for DCF in London. I have a few issues though. I have lived in the U.K for most of my life I am the U.S.C. I have never filed a tax return before. I am now downloading every conceivable form and guide from the IRS. Question is do I need one or three years pervious tax returns? I hope it is only one as I am totally lost on how to fill out these forms!! Now, I think I am still witihin time limit to submit 2006 forms so that should be o.k. I am going to have my sister as sponsor for my husband who is in the U.S. How many of her tax returns do I need to sumbit?

Thanks for all your help :help:

  7. Hi,

A bit of backgrond first. I the U.S citizen reside in th U.K with hubby and children who were born here. I am about to start my DCF soon to move us all to the states. If all goes well, should be there roughly this time next year (I hope). Anyway, question is, how have your kids adjusted to their new life in the States? I am worried about bullying etc because of accents and just general adjustment. We are planning on relocating to small town New England . We have had vacations etc there, but you never get a true reflection of day to day life until you settle into a place. This is the one thing that is giving me stress. Anyone care to share their experiences? It would be a great help! :D

    Thanks

  8. Hi,

i'm not sure about professional help on the site. I have not started my visa processing yet. I have found, however that by reading the faq's and guides on this website, has given me immense help and invaluable information on forms, processing etc. I'd say read all the relevant information that's prevalent to the K1 visa and if you are unsure or stuck, post a question. There are alot of people on this forum, myself not included! :P , who are a great source of information!!!

  9. i'm going to be bluntly honest about the original poster.

    Too bad.

you have demonstrated one malicious individual who abuses a system, that individual has not been punished.

tens of thousands of honest people who try to do it the right way are being punished because of one bad apple.

That is what we have fallen to as a society but it's not acceptable, you cannot punish everyone for the acts of an individual and you cannot punish everyone to try to protect one or two random people from doing something stupid. That last part is a direct reference to the high profile case that inspired this law.

The change is immoral, the way this country sometimes over reacts with far reaching consequences to honest citizens trying to make their way in the world and do things the right way is also totally wrong.

bad things sometimes happen to good people for no reason and the government has no business trying to legislate their protection.

It is not punishing everyone for the sake of one individual. Think of how many other people may be doing this also. This is only one story and although it's not ideal for people to have to wait longer to bring their loved-ones to the U.S, hopefully is stop aholes like this from continuing to use and abuse the system.

You may not like it, but if the shoe were on the other foot and your daughter was going to marry a man in a foreign country, wouldn't you like to make sure that there was a sfety net in place so this kind of thing doesn't happen??

  10. Hi,

Not sure if this is relevant to anyone but here in the U.K Tesco are advertising internet phones for £14.99 and you get free calls worldwide to anyone else who has one of these phones. I'm not very technical but though for anyone far away from their loved one may be worth a look. The ad specifically says anywhere in the world. Just in cas this helps

  11. 2. Jesus, not particularly religious but hey, I read the Da Vinci code and have a few questions

Plus you would only need to buy food for one and have enough for everyone and bottled water to have wine. LOL

    :lol::lol::lol:

Good point! never thought of that can also pass out the communion wafers as after dinner mints. Or as hubby calls them, those little flying saucer things the priest gives you ;)

  12. Hi,

Maybe you should contact the local U.S embassy. I know they like to keep updated on their citizens in foreign countries. . I am assuming that by your post there is a complete shutdown and no one can get in or out? Stay safe.

  13. 1. Stephen Fry because I love his wit humour and intelligence.

    2. Jesus, not particularly religious but hey, I read the Da Vinci code and have a few questions

    3. Audrey Hepburn for a bit of glamour

    4. Morgan Freeman, my favourite actor and I could listen to that voice all evening :D

  14. :D someone's broody!! hehe

I already have kids they are a total joy. I think you know when your ready. My first pregnancy was a 'surprise' and shock. The shock of being pregnant soon disappeared and was overridden by the total change in my body :hehe: If your ready for that your ready for anything!! Get ready to throw those skinny clothes out for a good while. By the way get ready to be embarrased like never before at any opportunity kids will say whatever is on their mind whenver they want :innocent:

  15. Wow,

I'm not much help here, but are you sure they still have his passport and haven't sent it back. I would call them now!! That's a long time to not have a passport bearing in mind for alot of people that is their only form of i.d.

    Good Luck

  16. I like BA too but have found in the past some of their staff not so helpful. I highly recommend Aer Lingus. I travelled from LA with them. They are great esp if you are travelling with kids. They have a special check in for anyone with kids so no need to wait in a long line, in saying that, they can be quite pricey but worth a look
