  1. So I'm not exactly clear yet. Her visa and passport is in the Vietnamese format. Last middle middle first. For the airplane ticket, entering it online, her first name is still first and her middle is still middle on the form correct?

  2. I was there about two weeks ago. When you're approved, they hold onto the your spouse passport. So the first thing to do entering the consulate is they make you fill out this half sheet both side regarding their passport info. When you know you're approved, one of the greeter will ask if you're approve before exiting. The greeter will make you fill out another form. Mostly copying what you had on the half sheet. They'll ask for another contact with their name and telephone number. My wife was able to receive it but I'm assuming if they couldn't contact her, they would have contact the alternative person.

  3. Thanks! I figure it should be the same as her passport. I have couple more questions you maybe able to answer. How did you buy your spouse's airplane ticket? I'm planning to buy it online and a cousin of mine said to enter the way it's suppose to be. Her first name as first. Her middle as her middle. Not according to her visa. I'll be heading back there in December to pick her up and I want to make sure we sit together. It's going to be her first time on a plane. I was planning to book a one way ticket there and book another one way with both of us back. Thanks!

  4. My wife received her visa couple days ago. I'm not sure if I should worry about the format her name is entered. Last middle middle first. It's exactly entered as her passport. Looking at mine it's last first middle. Would this be a problem when she gets her green card and social security card? I'm thinking it's going to be a bit reverse when we get it. Her first name will be her middle and middle being her first. Should i worry and how would I fix it? Thanks.

  5. Is it possible for me to just change status from single to married filing separately and put NRA on the SSN on the form 1040x? I've never amend anything. I was thinking about amending it again(MFJ) once wife is here. On part 3, I would explain why I'm changing it (didn't know I need to file married) then sign/date and mail it off. Is that the easiest way to do it?

  6. Thanks! So if there is no difference between single and MFS per 1040 instruction page ~80. (~33,000) The only thing I would need to do is check MFS and type NRA in the SSN box? This is on the 1040x. I would love to get back more but I'm not confident to do it myself. I have never done my taxes before by myself. I had always paid someone to do my taxes and she said it wasn't possible to do the NRA. She also already filed it electronically before I came across the guide. I trusted her and so I'm in this situation now. Per FAQ I was reading, never file single. Thanks again.

  7. I filed as single when I was suppose to file as married. I'm trying to amend it to MFS because it seems to be the easiest. Per instruction I've been reading. What I need to do is checkbox the MFS and for my spouse's SSN and I would need to put NRA. That's what my plan was until my coworker said if I'm filing MFS I still need to file a 1040 for my spouse. Is that true? Thanks in advance!
