    1. write it as on the card (l-f-mi)
    2. phone number is ok (email optional)
    3. (pass)
    4. if you have never been a member of the organisations of concern (such as communist/nazi/fascist organisations/parties, al-qaeda/hamas/hizballah, ...) then you can check off no.

    Thank you.

If anyone else could help with #3 it will be much appreciated!

  1. Hey all,

Almost done putting my application together and I have a few questions that I am not 100% confident with my answers.

    Can you please advise?

    1) Part 1 - B "Name exactly as it appears on the card"

So on the card it shows my name under the name section as FIRST NAME/LAST NAME/MIDDLE INITIAL and at the very bottom it lists my full name, which is too long and it doesn't even fit the card. Are they asking for what it shows next to the "Name" section of the card?

    2) Part 4 - C "Telephone and Email"

Do I need to give USCIS email and phone number? Do you all do that?

    3) Part 5 - D and E

I was born in Brazil and this question always makes me confused. Should I check YES or NO for the "Are you Hispanic or Latino" question?

Also, by marking YES, do I still need to answer the question below ("Race")? I am assuming I should say either yes or no for the Hispanic question and then mark "white" for "E". WTYT?

    4) Part 10 - B "Affiliations - Have you ever been a member of...."?

So how ####### are they with is? I haven't been a member of any organization, association, society, etc... but I have a CVS card, my insurance is AAA, I have an annual pass at the ZOO, I have a gym membership, etc. Do I ignore this stuff or is this the type of thing they are looking for?

Thanks a lot. I am just waiting on this so I can finish my package. Cheers!

  2. Got a little confused here, can you guys please help?

1 - Question A: How many times have you been married (including annulled marriages)?

I am currently married and this is my first and only marriage. Do I mark as "1"? Or is it "0"? I ask because it kinda sounds like this question refers to previous marriages.. not sure.

2 - Question G: How many times has your current spouse been married (including annulled marriages)?

Same question.. She has only been married to me, so do I answer 1 or 0?

    Thank you!!

  3. I have a couple random questions before sending my package in.

1 - I am married to an US citizen and have been a PR for over 3 years now, but living in the US for almost 4. When I fill out the form and provide information for job history and previous residencies, should I include the info from when I wasn't living in the US (which adds up to the 5 years requested) or is it not necessary?

2 - One of the documents required as a proof of our relationship (to apply for citizenship, not for the interview)is a bank statement. I am sending a print out copy of our joint savings account, which has both pour names and the same address. Is this enough or are our individual checking statements required as well?

    Thank you all for helping!

  4. Well!!! Today I received two good things. The first one (in the morning) was an email from USCIS about my service request saying that my request was correct and that my card production should be ordered soon.

Then about two hours after that email... another one and the online status now is showing:

Application Type: CRI89, PETITION TO REMOVE CONDITIONS OF PERMANENT RESIDENT STATUS RECEIVED

    Current Status: Card production ordered

On September 17, 2009, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register.

So my service request was right and that activated the production of my card as I was expecting!

I am so happy to close this chapter of my immigration process and wait with no stress for the next one (citizenship!).

    Good luck guys.

    NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Congratulations!!

  5. Please keep us posted.

i also got the letter but no online updates or email.

it has only been 5 days since my letter, but I fear the same as you.

    Weird.

    Good luck!

    Hi rlt,

Yeah, believe me is 100% better to receive the email of approval or the card production email than the plain paper with the approval on regular mail ... I was reading and most of the timelines show that the green card arrive in just several days when you get the emails and the updates online instead of the letter by mail only, maybe they forget to do it in a quick way like if you have the approval online (?).

In any case I think the better way is to put a little bit of pressure on them to get the updates or the green card. I am 100% sure that without the service request I would wait more than 60 days without any update or green card.

I will let you know any update.

    I bet it is.

But honestly, we (VJ people) are only a few percentage of the total of ppl applying for a GC.

It is hard to rule it out.

Still, we were approved (weren't we?). I think you made the right decision by calling them, but someone posted in a different topic that they got their GC in the mail and their online status still says "pending".

    Go figure...

  6. Ok guys, after 34 days since my approval on the mail (in a plain white paper) I decided to call 1-800 for a service request because I am still waiting for any update online, my green card or the card production order email and also the I-797D.

After 3 attemps with the 3 different USCIS operators (the first 2 told that I need to wait more time) I finally get one very friendly that immediately decided to open the service request. I told her that I read in the website that if you have the approval and It has been more than 30 days without receiving the green card or the welcome letter you should call customer service and that is what I did. She agree with that.

I am sure that now I am going to receive my GC or at least the green card production order email very soon.

    Let see what happens

Good luck to all of you.

    Please keep us posted.

  7. Hi,

Just received a letter in the mail yesterday congratulating me for my approval.

I had decided not to check my case online to stop me from going paranoid this time..

This morning I decided to check so I know when my card is on its way and was surprised to see that my status online says my application was received by ....

Last touch was on my biometrics day.

    The letter says:

"Congratulations! your request for removal of the conditional basis of your permanent resident status has been approved. You are deemed to be a lawful permanent resident of the US as the date of your original admission or adjustment of your status.

You should receive a new PR Card, form 1-551 (green card), within 60 days. Your card will include a mailer, Form 1-797D, with important information about your status....."

The letter is nothing like a NOA, just a plain letter.

Has anyone experienced this? Approval by mail and no changes online?

I am just a bit worried because my receipt date is only from 2 months ago. This was surprisingly fast (My service center is CA).

    Please advise.

    Thank you!

  8. Hi all,

In the Part III of the for, question n.9 (if you lived in any other address since you became a permanent resident) is mixed with questions such as "have you ever been arrested, deported, etc". Looks like a big deal so I don't want to screw it up.

I have moved a year after receiving my 2 year conditional card.

Now it is time to lift conditions and I assume I need to attach a sheet to the form and list my previous address (yes, I will also include the AR-11 with my application).

Any tips or templates for this?

Did I get it wrong by any chance?

    I appreciate your advice.

    Cheers

  9. Yes, it does prove living at the same address. Our water bill was in both our names so we sent that, but if you don't have any utility bills in both your names, simply send what you have (I would make sure and match up the dates) and then highlight that they are being sent to the same address.

Not having joint utility bills or having them they way you have them, should not count as a strike against you.

    THANK YOU!

  10. Hey all,

I was browsing through the threads and saw some conflict information when it comes to the utility bills.

My wife and I have many different bills in either mine name or her name, but with the same address (coming to our house).

We don't have bills coming to both our names.

We do have the joint bank savings account as well as taxes filled jointly and some other mail, though.

Now, is it true that bills to our house but not named to both of us count against our case?

Doesn't it prove that we live in the same address??

    Thanks for your help.

  11. that list is suggestions not requirements..

all I would do is include a letter stating that you live with family.. or maybe have her parents write a letter stating that you live with them...

We do not live with her folks.

They own the house, and we rent it from them.

They live in a different house in the same city.

I wonder if other proof of address such as documents, bills, pay stubs, etc will make it up for not having a lease contract.

:) Thank you so much for replying.

    oops....

you could still get them to write a letter saying you rent the house from them..

    Ya...

I was thinking I shouldn't bother, but now I am considering doing this..

  13. Were you asked to show a lease or are you asking because that is listed as suggested evidence?

The truth is always the best answer. And you can only show the evidence that you have.

We lived with family at the time of AOS and did not have a lease. I did include a signed/notarized statement from my mother stating that we were living in her house. It wasn't an issue at our interview.

    Thank you.

    No, I was not asked.

I am planning on applying next month and this is on their list of requirements.

I wonder if I should ignore the lease thing and provide hem with other address proof or if I should get a letter from my in laws stating that we live in a house they own.

  14. USCIS specifically asks for "Leases showing that you and your spouse live in the same place".

My wife and I live in a house we rent from her parents.

Since the house is theirs, we have never signed a contract.

We do, however, have our bills "split" in both our names.

Utilities in mine, cable in hers, etc...

We also have plenty of mail as bank statements in our names coming to our address.

Will this satisfy the USCIS officer or not having a signed contract for lease is known to be an issue?

    Thank you.
